Germano Week Day 1: Humanverse/Coffee shop
my multishipper ass had no excuse not to participate so-... this is also on my ao3.
Sure, the night was lively in this odd city. There was nothing wrong with this day, and nothing felt like it could go wrong. The sun was shining in red hues as the sun began to set.
Though, there was one thing.
An entire day had passed, and Lovino just now remembered that he was in an unfamiliar city, fatigued, and without a place to crash for the night.
He'd been all over the town, really. He had this habit of going to cities, checking out their museums, spending a ridiculous amount on food, and forgetting that he had a home to go back to.
Usually he'd be able to snag a hotel room.
However, luck had no intention of giving him that grace.
Every single place he'd call: no available rooms.
"Fuck!" He hung up the phone, probably having just struck fear into the heart of that poor woman.
With a frustrated hiss, Lovino adjusted his jacket and kept walking, muttering under his breath about the stupidity of it all. That is, how he was not immune to consequences, as he so needed to be.
In layman's terms, it pissed him the fuck off.
In terms of his surroundings, he found himself having no choice but to walk. There was no point in having a temper tantrum in public, after all. He was going to find someplace a little more private to be furious at the world.
Furious he would be, stepping into the cafe around the corner. Furious he would remain, witnessing dull, almost industrial decor. His fury only burned brighter when his sights were set on that stupid barista, with the stupid blue eyes and stupid blond hair. His even stupider, dull, almost too practical attire, made him seem like a brick come to life.
"Hey, you. Get me a god damn espresso. Make it a double." The first words he spoke to that stupid brick of a man were laced with the hissing of hot coals.
It didn't phase the barista, who began to prepare his order with no other words spoken. What was the point, after all? His customer had already spoken of his order.
Lovino sat down with a huff, watching the man make his espresso, having nothing else to do. He absentmindedly scrolled on his phone as well, noting another 'star exhibit' soon to be seen in a museum a town over. Maybe later, he mentally remarked.
Though, when his phone screen went dark, Lovino had no choice but to heavily sigh.
Now he was lost, without communication, and tired.
The barista looked over at him, stone cold expression never wavering.
"Is everything okay?" He asked flatly, turning the espresso machine on.
"The hell are you talking to me for?" Lovino bit back.
"You don't seem to have anything else to do." The man answered. "My name is Ludwig."
"...Lovino." The man had a point. Plus, somehow, the way he remained so calm in this moment was soothing. (Not that Lovino would say so. He was too busy being in his own head over it all.)
"Nice to meet you, Lovino." Ludwig answered. "Is there anything you want to talk about?"
"Ehh... I'd rather not rant to you while you're working. It'd be a dick move."
"I can multitask." Something caring shone through in Ludwig. "Do you want anything in your espresso, by the way?"
"Hell no. Anyways, I guess the gist of it is that I'm lost in a city I don't live in! What's worse is that there's not a damn hotel big enough to hold one more fucking guy! It's like God hates me, and loves everyone else today! Fucking shit!" Lovino concluded his rant by screaming into his arms, which now acted as a pillow for his face.
Ludwig took a moment to let Lovino recover, serving his espresso. He felt pity for the customer, who currently was breathing deep sighs of malcontent.
"...do you need a place to stay?"
Lovino's face went red. He wasn't capable of responding verbally in these conditions.
"Nod or shake your head. I promise it's okay." Ludwig found his own face to be warming up a bit. Something about Lovino was extremely cute at the moment.
The customer nodded his head, confirming Ludwig's question.
"Do you mind staying with me for the night? Seeing as you're... Hotel-less."
Lovino nodded again, looking away. "Sure." His pride was hurt, but there wasn't exactly a choice.
Fifteen minutes 'til seven, said the chime of a bell. Outdoors, it was somewhat dark. The gentle breeze wrestled with a tree, playfully stealing a leaf.
Playful. That was a word to describe anything but the scenario Lovino was in. Being forced into the care of a stranger, through a scenario that seems like it would only happen to a man hated by the heavens.
What a weird day.
He downed his espresso with nothing more so say, other than that this was a good espresso. Even if it didn't taste like home.
Somehow, he was reminded of the barista before him through the complex notes of this particular coffee.
Something within Lovino knew that this Ludwig character, despite being a bit of a stick in the mud, was a good man. Kind, even. Good enough to care for a man that God hated. He found himself comparing the guy to a police dog, oddly enough.
Ludwig tidied his counter once more, before grabbing some keys and heading to a door behind the counter. He motioned for Lovino to follow.
"Oh, you live here, don't you? Weirder and weirder." Lovino's remark was considerably less heated with fury. He hardly even remembered what he was angry about. Damn good espresso indeed.
Ludwig led his houseguest up some stairs and into a quaint home. Plainly decorated, besides some pictures, it looked like the owner hadn't lived here for so long.
"Huh... Nice place." Lovino sighed and let himself fall onto the couch. "I'll stay out of your way."
Nodding, Ludwig sat on an armchair and took a few breaths.
Though they sat together in a room in silence for quite some time, there was an unspoken bond between them.
The beginning of something new, perhaps.
Germano Week Day 2: Office Romance/Snowed In
Story will also be posted on my ao3 eventually.
The day was slowly drudging by, and all of time seemed slow. Truly, a nice, relaxing type of day. Even for a workaholic who'd been stuck at his computer, doing nothing but spreadsheets for the last few hours.
He didn't seem aware that outside, it was snowing.
"Hey, you." Someone finally caught his attention with a sharp voice.
A coworker.
"Ja?" Ludwig didn't look up for more than a second, but he recognized the stray curl of brown hair.
"Everyone else is going home. It's supposed to snow so much that it'll freeze the doors shut." Gesturing to the window, he made his point. "Aren't you going to get off that damn computer?"
"There's no time. I can't take this home either, I don't have a flash drive..." Almost disappointed in himself, Ludwig cursed under his breath.
"Your funeral." In spite of his words, and his attempt to leave, Lovino couldn't pull himself out of the room.
Perhaps it was because of his foolish, almost childish, crush on the guy.
"You see him show an emotion other than stoicism once, and-"
"What was that?" Ludwig interrupted, hearing the other speak aloud. He seemed almost concerned.
"Uh- Nothing! Stop eavesdropping already!"
"...why are you still here?" Ludwig saved his work on the computer, just in case. After all, he had reasons for avoiding conversations.
Reasons that made his face appear bright red.
"You know- I, uh, I've been procrastinating on shit. I was gonna go home too, but fuck that!" Lovino confidently confronted his feelings with frustration, as opposed to telling the truth, per usual.
In a moment of confidence, Ludwig gathered his words to more effectively offer his time.
"May I help you?"
Lovino shot him a look, startled, but ultimately flattered.
"Uh... Sure."
Ludwig stepped forward, away from his desk.
Lovino stayed in place until the other was close.
Then they were both set off to find Lovino's computer, faces tinted red and hands trying not to reach so desperately for one another.
All while the snow continued to fall around the building. Though, they'd be alright. Even when the storm passed, connections between them remained strong. Strong enough to warm them both through a thousand winters.
Germano Week Day 3: Hitmen/Rivals to Lovers
guess who's back at their usual writing pace? ME, BITCHES!! work soon to be on ao3 too.
There's no mistake in saying that hitmen could be a little competitive.
None, however, could triumph over two in particular's results. Therefore, it is necessary that the public be informed.
The first, simply known to his clients as Eisen, was known for his efficiency in work. He was also known for tidiness, but seemed to lack in the department of 'making it look like an accident', or even anything social. Nonetheless, he did his job faithfully, and for that he was regarded as one of the best.
Though, to his unofficial rival, he was nothing more than someone to outdo wherever he could.
Far more performative in his tasks, but known for causing trouble in his wake, this one was known simply as Le Rovine. He took his jobs in strides of chaos, scausing ruin in his wake. Sometimes it could be said that he was one who could use his misfortune to his advantage. Nonetheless, as much chaos as he causes, he remains a threat.
In this new report, the two seem to have recently either disappeared, or abandoned prior styles. Citizens in high standings should remain vigilant for plans on their lives, even with the two most prominent hitmen out of the scene. After all, neither have has identities confirmed by the authorities, nor have either been arrested. They could be anywhere.
...
"Hah! Look at this fucking shit, it's hilarious! Dumbass reporters, thinking we disappeared. Haha!" Lovino shoved his tablet in front of Ludwig, cackling to himself.
"Now, hold on, we can't make light of this. Since the public eye is more aware of us, it means that something informational has recently been released..." Ludwig handed the tablet back after scanning the article.
"Ugh, I hate it when you're right."
"You'd be smart to direct that hatred elsewhere."
"Fucking stop!"
"Sorry." Ludwig was not sorry.
"Fuck you." Lovino could tell.
"So we're back to our days of competition?" Ludwig took his time to stand up slowly, stretching his arms.
"Yeah. All because you can't let go for once." Lovino stuck his tongue out at the other.
"Maybe not. I still think you're very cute, though..." Once again, the man was entranced by his partner's theatrics.
As he'd always been.
"Fucking hell, quit flattering me." Lovino averted his eyes, face now tomato red. He was flattered, per usual.
"I don't think I could ever stop, now that you've taught me to." Ludwig took hold of Lovino's shoulders, looking him in the eye.
"Watch it, you fucking giant." It was true, Lovi was short. However, he used this to his advantage, wrapping his arms around his partner's waist. "You're treading on dangerous waters."
"I like danger." Ludwig found himself flustered.
"Whatever." With a sly grin, Lovino pulled the man down and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Now get me a coffee, bello."
At that he walked away, leaving his partner-in crime and life-ever enamored.

“You’re the best thing I never planned.”

Secrets
There would always be many secrets in both of their lives, such was the nature of their very being. It was their fate that there were always going to be people in their lives from whom they would keep secrets and even tell lies to, simply to protect those secrets.
Ludwig and Chiara had accepted that their duty to their people meant that there would be secrets between them, things they could never share with each other or warn the other one about. They could only try to forgive for each other for choices made long after they had been made.
They accepted this because secrets were not the only thing shared between the two of them. There was the love the both felt. The love that was a secret itself, for no one knew of it. Perhaps Gilbert knew because he knew his little brother better than anyone. Maybe Francis had his suspicions, the man seemed to have a sixth sense for people in love. Chiara didn’t think her sister had ever noticed the tension between her sister and her best friend. Fact was, neither one of them had actually told someone about it.
Their love was a secret during meetings, when Chiara would show up at his hotelroom.
This love was a secret during his visits to Feliciana, when Ludwig would knock on the older sisters’ door during the night.
Ludwig didn’t want to hide his love for Chiara anymore.
Chiara loved the younger potato bastard. Now that she had reconciled with that fact, she wanted people to know it.
But they kept their secret.

Day 1 prompt Secrets for @hws-germano-week's 2nd week of 2023.
I made cannoli!
She couldn’t believe she was going through all this trouble just because he was coming over to visit, besides he was really here to hang out with Chiara’s younger brother anyway. There were so many places she could buy this and for some reason she had decided to make it herself. From scratch! She was rarely found in the kitchen because everyone already knows that Feliciano was the better cook between them. He was always better than her at everything.
Instead the woman found herself at the nearest store to get everything she was going to need to prepare this. Just the trip to buy all the ingredients had left her annoyed and nearly out of energy to even get to actually making it.
Chiara placed all the ingredients she would need to make this for him, to show all of them that she was as a good cook as well. All she needed for this was time. Making it was easy enough but simply required time to get it ready.
It took her all day to get this done and Chiara had only just finished the dish when someone was knocking on the front door. She could already hear her little brother running through the house to open the front door for his best friend, but the woman managed to beat him to it.
As she opened the door and looked at the blond man, she nearly pushed the plate with food into his face. “I made cannoli!” She told him loudly while the blush on her face was a bright red shade.
Behind her in the hallway, she could hear Feliciano complain that is was not the right time to eat that and that she was bothering his friend. Ludwig however ignored that and took one of them. Then told her the cannoli she made turned out very nicely and praised Chiara for her skill in the kitchen. As he spoke there was a slight pink colour noticeable on his cheeks and ears.
