If You Don't Like It - Tumblr Posts

I am going to say something that might piss people on this site off, and that is that the stabbing at a Taylor Swift themed event in Southport does not exist in a vacuum.

It exists in a world where a joke about bringing a nail gun to the Eras tour to shoot fans gets 400k likes on TikTok, or where a reel about crashing a plane full of Swifties gets 200k likes on Instagram. It exists in a world where, on this very website, the one that promotes itself as rational and reasonable, someone says that "Taylor Swift and her fans should all die violent horrible deaths" and people applauded it. It exists in a world where, during TTPD release week men were in Swifties' comment sections declaring they would beat their daughters and girlfriends if they ever so much as listened to one of her albums. And it exists in a world where this week, fans of a TV show (which I will not name because that is not the point) sent death threats to a girl on Twitter for daring to be a fan of both their beloved show and Taylor Swift.

I don't give a fuck what your opinion of Taylor Swift is. I don't care if you think her music is grating, I don't care if you think she is the worst thing to happen to humanity since Eve ate the god damn apple. This is the dark side of stan culture that no-one talks about; where dislike of an artist becomes so obsessive that it becomes normal, even funny, to joke about killing their fans, because "it's just online, it's just a joke". It isn't. It is rarely ever "just online".

And yes I am going to be That Person and say that you can complain about Swift's brand of feminism and debate her position as a feminist icon all day long, at the end of the day, her name is still synonymous with girls. It doesn't take a genius to work out who this event was geared at.

I am not going to sit and claim that by simply not liking Taylor Swift you directly caused this. I would encourage you to step back, look at the bigger picture of stan culture, including obsessive dislike of an artist, and ask yourself how much this culture has enabled this. If making jokes on tiktok about killing someone over a pop star is normalised, how much of a leap is it to attacking kids with a knife at a fan event?

and of course there is the fact that the british media didn't even wait until those kids were buried before using this event to spread their racist, anti-immigrant agenda despite the race of the attacker not being known. all I can say to that is I am sickened and disappointed but not shocked.

Ok but isn’t your opinion a little hypocritical to buddie fans? You purposely went into a buddie story, where more than likely the tags stated it was anti-ana (because like it or not it is people’s right to write a story however they would like), and went to the comment section and chose to hyper focus on one commenter saying they want to punch that version of ana. I think it sounds more like a you problem then a buddie problem. If you don’t like to see buddie fans block them, filter them out. Don’t call them out and pretend like other ship fans aren’t doing the exact same thing. I have seen more Bucktaylor/madney/etc fans attack buddie fans then the other way around. This fandom has a shit ton of problems, especially with the infighting, but like come on. If you don’t want to see it fucking block it instead of making a long ass post acting like madney shippers are the victims of the fandom.

1. No, I don’t think my opinion is hypocritical to Buddie fans, because no where in my post did I say I hate Buddie as a ship. I said I was 50/50 with them ending up on the show together, like I’m alright if it happens and alright if it doesn’t. I only said Madney is my favorite ship. I do read Buddie fan fictions and have read amazing stories where the writer really did a great job with the two characters. So no I won’t block the Buddie stuff because like you I still enjoy the content people put out. I follow some Buddie shippers on here who are very pleasant and I look forward to hearing from them.

2. Yeah, don’t recall me saying anything about how people should write a story or not.

3. I probably should have clarified some things some more. I didn’t just purposely, as you know now, click on a Buddie story and immediately go straight to the comments. I started reading it and didn’t like where it was going and then after the end of the chapter hopped into the comments. Now, it could be on me, I’m not denying that, but I don’t remember if there was a warning or not for this story because not all of them have it. I summed up the comment, but I also forget if they were talking about the story Ana or the actual character in the show because I have come across comments like that. Either way I didn’t technically call anyone out because I didn’t actually use their name and I didn’t use the exact, word for word, comment. I merely wrote that in to say how I think that is very extreme to be saying about a character in general, when a lot of the hatred I’ve seen so far is stemmed off the fact that people just want Eddie and Buck to be together.

4. Never said that other ships don’t attack, because I’m sure as hell they have and still do, I’m just stating what I’VE personally seen, and if you’ve seen something different that’s okay. I’m not you, and you aren’t me. When I said some Buddie fans, keep in mind SOME, because I’m very aware it isn’t the whole Buddie fandom fighting, I’m talking to the people who are hyped enough to leave not nice messages in people’s inbox and who have actually gone after the actress throwing insults and stuff at her. Now that is not okay, and if you can’t separate an actress from her character it’s a problem. She is just trying to do her job.

5. Lol, when did I ever say us Madney fans were the victims? I said I couldn’t believe people were coming at us leaving disheartening messages because they don’t like our ship, or rather just Maddie. So I think you missed the meaning behind my whole post. I wasn’t coming after anyone, what I said was simply MY opinion, and I wasn’t making anyone victims. I said that in the end people have to wake up and realize we are all going to like and hate certain characters and ships, and that’s okay. But we shouldn’t be attacking people, throwing others down, or for god sakes going to an actresses page and commenting mean things. Believe it or not, there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. My whole point in my previous post is why can’t we all just get along, because in the end we are all connected in the fact we love 911.

To conclude, you clearly read most of my previous post wrong, but if you didn’t like reading MY opinions then maybe you should follow your own advice and block me. I wasn’t trying to start with anyone, and I made that VERY clear in my post when I said I’m literally rooting for all the ships of the show, even if I have my preferred favorites.

I love the idea that Sanji has an accent! I have a love affair with international accents! I love'em all! Especially when the accent fits the character perfectly!

btw fans bitching about sanji having a british accent because in the shitty usamerican dub he speaks american and they cannot contemplate anyone not speaking like they do: i do realize you can't tell because you don't know anything outside of your own borders but sanji speaks a very working class english accent infused with the actor's own actual immigrant spanish islander accent, which suits the character very well actually and perfectly tempers his snobbishness about food and the flowery french names of his signature moves with the knowledge that he's had to work really fucking hard for that knowledge and you are reminded of it every time he opens his mouth. so to all those whining and complaining you are invited to kindly get the fuck off
