Tips for Redeemed! Simon Laurent AU writers
Before starting i just want to clarify this is only an opinion and you can think otherwise if you want anyway here we go!
I still think that a redeemed Simon from infinity train even tho he would be redeemed at some point in your AU he should not loose his character traits i mean he should be showing traces of inmature, logical, controlling, insecure, distrustful, frustrated, short tempered, straight forward, stubborn, (because of his own low emotional intelligence) fun loving and cute child like behavior at times (just let the negative traits show mildly as a remnant of his old self so he dosen´t turn back to villain or if your are going to use them like that make him struggle with that and turn back to rason) besides his hobbies with his novel and miniatures oh.. and also make him extremly edgy and grumpy… because he was a villain remember?… aaaand not a nice one either….
finally our boy would have a lot of emotional walls to keep pepole from getting close, because both he dosent want to get hurt and also because he belives he is unworthy of love (After all the damage he has done and understanding it and with that temper and emotions of his he would want to stay away from pepole.)
Simon could actually come back
the eon ocilator (the evolution thermostat that these guys had) on season 4
said artifact with the right modifications can restore things in a point forward or backwards in their evolution... said artifact dont have any limits tho repairing broken things and stuff
if that´s the case then using the artifact Grace or Samantha could... (GASP)
On why tho...
Samantha could resurrect Simon because of guilt for indirectly causing his own demise (she knows the train better than anyone so probably knows where the artifact is and how to use it)
Grace could resurrect simon too if she had said arftifact from the apex previous raids as for why is because (a) she still apreciates his friend and because of 8 years of friendship (b) she still fells guilty about it deep inside emotionally even tho she admited it was not responsable for it at first she would be hesitant (because he was the most terrible person you could imagine) and probaly would be spending days thinking if she should resurrect him or not...but if she does it.. it could have 2 outcomes
Simon dosen´t change and keeps being a villan in the series
Simon opens a path for redemption (unlikely... possible but unlikely unless he is resurrected in child form (it dosent seems that the artifact can turn back mentality but everything is possible))
however there are one requisite for this to happen: Grace or Samantha must have keeped simon´s remains
This is only an idea and could be wrong... but seems oddly convinient to introdue an artifact that can turn back or forward time itself on certain objects it is placed on like a train car, a giant piglet, a porcelain cow, etc. anyway writers now that infinity train has ended for now... this can be used as ideas for a future AU for your fics...

“Simon would’ve killed Hazel if Grace hadn’t lied to him!” lol no he wouldn’t have and the show literally tells us he wouldn’t
Simon has a lot of issues so lets give more psycholgy understanding about his character in your au in case you want to keep him a villain
This episode, their dynamic in it, and the impact is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO underrated. If you ever had somebody you thought you could trust be right next to you going through something and they have ZERO sympathy, no empathy, then they antagonize you and when you're vulnerable and frustrated they mentally attack you...
This episode was one of the most realistic depictions that I've ever seen of that type of anguish. I had years of that from someone and the way this cartoon that y'all lie to yourselves and say is for kids so accurately showed me images of my own life from 18-early 20s with a toxic, traumatized man that I thought loved me for whatever reason.
I'm still shook by this episode. My skin was crawling. Had he been able to get into my brain and cause more damage...

Something about Simon that I noticed that proves that he is very good written
The way he owns so many gadgets.
He doesn't have only the harpoonpack, he also has the number tracker and the anti gravity boots.
Why?
Couse he is scared that something will happened and he won't be prepared.
He wants to be organized and prepared couse he is constantly overthinking if something will happen.
And you know what overthinking is a symptom of?
Anxiety.
Which without doubt Simon had.
The way he was anxious about being in a new situation that he wasn't prepared for.
As soon as he entered the Jungle Car, he wanted to check if they were prepared for whatever can happen next.
In conclusion,
Simon is not just a bad male character. He is a human being with a personality. He has a personality, he has his interests, opinions.
This is what Book 3 showed us, that even the bad guys. The most horrible people, have personalities.

Simon is having an anxiety attack while Grace is just chilling - Simon and Grace about Change
In just second episode we could see their views on change
Simon is scared of change. It makes him feel anxious, it takes away his safety. When they entered the jungle car, he got scared of sudden change of situation and place. He got calmer about when Grace told him that "it's gonna be like old times", she made him think that they're not really in a new situation, she made this situation remain him of old times, safe times.
Grace was chill about sudden change of place. She was curious, positive about it. She saw the positives, like that she has Simon by her side.
He was scared of change.
She wanted to explore it.
AAAND more character analisis for Grace and simon YAY
Grace and Simon's friendship was the realest thing in the Apex, but they were never able to really help each other or be vulnerable with each other. I think this conversation in Jungle Car exemplifies that on Grace's end:
Simon: Threats seem minimal. Grace, fake-serious: But Simon presence remains aloof and dorky! Grace: Dude, we are the Apex, but also... we're Grace and Simon, remember! Simon: Yeah... Grace, mockingly: Yeah. Grace: Yeah, what? I've seen you lead an army of kids, but I've also seen you play sockball! You can play super serious general guy when we get back. Until then, loooosen uuuup!
Grace: Think of it as us being on leave.
These are the things that really strike me about this conversation:
Grace is giving Simon a hard time, but she's also being truthful and sincere. I don't see any lies or even anything misleading here.
Grace calls his usual persona "play[ing] super serious general guy" but also gives him the "think of it as us being on leave" out. She's using the rhetorical technique of appealing to his personal values, without being dishonest and pretending she shares them.
Notice how indirect Grace is being about her emotional reasoning. We can infer that she really wants to relax and have fun with Simon, because that's clearly what she's trying to achieve here and what we see them doing together after this conversation. But Grace doesn't say "I miss you" or "wouldn't it be fun to hang out?" or anything like that. She says what she has to say to get what she wants, expressing as little of her interior self as possible.
Also interesting how she pivots to talking about just Simon and not both of them in the middle there (while talking about specifics?)... like, she doesn't say "we lead an army but we also goof around together", she says "I've seen you" etc. I wonder if that's also partly because Simon responds better to that kind of approach.
If this is also an attempt to help Simon calm down and feel better (and I think it is), then that's also something Grace isn't explicitly acknowledging. I don't think in this case it's "bad" not to flat out say that, but I do think it's part of a larger pattern of their relationship... like, she didn't need to say that here, but she didn't say that here because this generally isn't a friendship where they acknowledge each other's feelings or caring about each other's feelings, and in a lot of other situations... that's bad! (It's also not something Simon asked for, or that I think he understands he could ask for/knows how to ask for.)
Interesting implicit acknowledgement from Grace here that playing Apex leaders works against their ability to actually be themselves.
It's like, this is a conversation that I could imagine happening between two people who have a healthy relationship, but because this is (as far as I can tell) the most sincere and open and caring conversation they'd had in ages, and as sincere and open and caring as it ever gets between them until Grace opens up in the chalet episode... feels like symptoms of a broader pattern.
Simon might have taken the wrong choices but however lets not forget that Grace played a part on it even if it was unkowingly… if you want to create a reason why Simon is mad at Grace and create something from his perspective this is for you... and remember in this tragedy nobody is to blame.
Should Simon Have Friend-Dumped Grace?
Note: this article does not sufficiently weigh Simon’s bad behaviors in Episode 11, “The New Apex”. This article has been kept unmodified for posterity.
Part 1 of 2: Series Abstract and “Strikes”
(Caveat: there’s a convincing case to be made they’re in a codependent abusive relationship, so treating this as a friendship gone bad may be the incorrect protocol or oversimplified. Still, for the sake of not re-writing the whole thing, it will be presented with the thesis they were originally close friends. Due to the difficulty of researching causes to friend-dump someone who isn’t toxic, some references come from toxic-friend protocol, so there would be some overlap.)
Abstract
The protagonists of Infinity Train’s third season, Grace Monroe and Simon Laurent, start off very close. However, as the season progresses, their friendship deteriorates, as clear through dialogue, but also facial expressions, body language, and vocal details. And yet, Simon chose to stay with her and obey her, if with increasing reluctance, and cared deeply about her (to him) inexplicable behavior changes. And it’s because he cared so much about Grace that he had to find out what was causing everything, leading to that shocking moment: “We….just won’t tell Simon, okay?” Later on, he shoves her off a train bridge to certain death, and briefly looks shocked and sad before he descends into maniacal laughter, and is then killed by a Ghom.
Perhaps if Simon had friend-dumped Grace earlier on, he could have avoided much of his turmoil.

Should Simon Have Friend-Dumped Grace?
Part 2 of 2: Conclusions
Note: this article does not sufficiently weigh Simon’s bad behaviors in Episode 11, “The New Apex”. This article has been kept unmodified for posterity.
(For the purpose of this article, “friend-dumping” will mean leaving Grace behind before The Origami Car and cutting her out of his life, whether by exiling her from The Apex or Simon leaving The Apex.)
So what happens next?
There are strong arguments for and against Simon friend-dumping Grace, which can be sorted into both moral and practical reasoning.

Turtle Princess Hazel I made for this thread that was too cute to leave on main
Infinity Train Swap AU but the roles are random
I got bored so hare’s me using a wheel to make an IT swap au
So for Tulip we have GRACE! Hell yeah,
For Jesse we have HAZEL! Oh.. oh ouch
For Grace we have- TULIP! Huh okay
For Simon we have- BLAKE! Y’know, with how little we know on Blake and the popular headcanon that he’s Tulip’s cousin- i could see it
For Amelia we have- SIMON! Ooo, that’d be interesting with Grace being in Tulip’s role.
For Hazel we have- Min-Gi?? Okay
For Ryan we have- Lake!
For Min-Gi we have- Mikayla! ( @nevermore-was-here the universe chose Mikaylake)
Headcanons:
- For Grace, I feel like this is less about her parents being divorced but them being absent. Not like neglectful absent, but her parents are so caught up in their own lives that its hard for them to make time for their daughter in terms of bonding and communication. Such as them missing Grace’s recitals because of work and stuff.
- Instead of losing a significant other (because other then Grace, i can’t see Simon being romantically involved with anybody else) I feel this will be more him reconstructing his life as a whole. Remaking his life as a way to have some semblance of control over it . Like instead of a death, its just things that pile up over time. Like his life was shitty and he’s using The Train as a 2nd chance.
- For Mirror!Grace and Hazel, Hazel was a little kid they found wandering The Train and Hazel just followed them around after that. Mirror!Grace loves Hazel to death and will do anything her. Now they have even more motivation to escape the Flecs.
- Hazel was a kid thrown around the foster system, so her and Mirror!Grace relate on struggling with identity.
I don’t really have many ideas, im just bored
Apex! Tulip AU
Okay so, Grace and Simon found Tulip during a raid when she was contemplating giving One-One too the Cat. Tulip, so desperate for any answers, decides too join the apex which makes her number skyrocket too the thousands. But now she's an engineer and inventor for the Apex.
Currently she has been apart of the Apex for seven months, her number is up too her wrist making her third highest number in the apex. She usually repairs their grappling packs or a busted machine of some sort from a car they want repair. She uses her freetime too code videogames on computers she's found around the mall.
Grace and Simon constantly tease her and pick on her as if she were their own little sister. They also gave her so many nicknames, almost too many nicknames. Ponytail #2, Tutu, Four-eyes, Carrot-top, Nerd, Glasses, Redhead - I could go on, really. But they also get her tools and parts from raids and stick up for her when nesscery. Sometimes when they act too nice and that's when they want something from her.
Tulip usually let's the Apex-kids play or test her videogames unless she knows they're going mess up stuff. She's also the one who handles and takes care of the Apex kids when Simon and Grace dont feel like it.
It's rare if Tulip ever goes on a raid or wheels a null. Destroying stuff isnt really her think but Simon and Grace urge her too come because "Tulip, you haven't seen the sun in days I swear you look like and act like a vampire-" . She doesn't wheel nulls that often unless they're just really pissing her off that day or they're not animallike and/or humanlike.
What happened too One-One? Nobody knows~...At the moment.
Not really a prompt but more a question about one of ur aus: in steward!tulip, how did she become the steward? Was she a cyborg built by the train, or a regular passenger who revamped the steward to give her those spindles out of her back?
Okay so basically-
Steward Tulip is basically about if Tulip wasn’t able to get her exit back after Amelia sent it away. So she stays on The Train for what she thinks is just only a bit longer. She kinda just chills in The Engine for a while until she becomes kinda restless and bored.
OneOne then sets her up with this new job; Since Amelia kinda ruined the Steward’s image with attacking whatever passengers and denizens that came too close. He has Tulip take on the role herself! Giving her a pack that houses the Steward arms and helps her get around (she didn’t get them implanted in her spine like Doc Ock XD), got her her own mask, and gets her own car that’s a copy of her bedroom from back home which also has luxuries such as being to travel anywhere at her own command (by inputing coordinates) and can manually lock from the inside!
(since she’ll be traveling around The Train a lot and OneOne wants his friend to be comfortable during her stay!)
Her job is to basically to help passengers by giving them rations and other essentials, helping them through more dangerous cars and answering any questions they may have. (She also helps denizens, but that wasn’t enforced by OneOne) She also helps repair cars from Amelia’s reign.
Mind you, she’s still Tulip. So she’s not like John Wick or anything. But she can get a little bit of badassery, as a treat.
There’s also a little twist that changes a few things, but i’ll reveal it once I actually work on the fic
