Internet Etiquette - Tumblr Posts
I’ve said this a million times on main but I should probably be obnoxious and post abt it here too..no offense but if anyone calls one of my characters any variation of “trash man” (stinky/garbage boy…piss man???¿ etc) I would block them? Point blank. You don’t know me, we aren’t friends and you don’t have my permission to talk or make jokes abt my characters like that. ?
Like yeah. I can’t stop you and I won’t do anything aside frm blocking if you do smth like this,,but I feel like it’s a really reductive thing to say and it’s really unnecessary. I don’t enjoy people belittling my creations even jokingly bc I’ve genuinely gotten enough of people being seriously mean about them and it just gets tiring to hear! Other people may be okay with things like this, and may even do it to their own characters, but I’m not and it would be awesome if people could respect that.

The Do’s & Don'ts of interacting w/ content creators, & other people you don’t know well mutually I slapped together for Twitter.
This ended up being more Don'ts than Dos but I feel like people need more help learning what NOT to say once they stray away from simple compliments and questions.
THIS PLS LISTEN TO THIS
ORATORICAL SPEECH WHO??
people will be like "UGH it really grates my cheese when i go into the reader tag on ao3 and find oc fics 😡😡" but literally ignore that it also goes for reader fics that get tagged as character/oc. now THAT is not a reason to complain at all for some reason.
a brain cell of mine dies every time i see this visceral dislike for oc fics when it's time to acknowledge reader fics are just oc fics that have y/n as the placeholder with the "character" descriptions taken away for better immersion
all reader fics are oc fics but oc fics are not reader fics, i'm aware. but oc writers dont deserve to be shit on just because they dared to sully your 828392 paged reader tag on ao3 with a single fic of theirs. they just want more engagement and appreciation. just fucking scroll and don't talk to me about the imaginary ao3 etiquette or whatever, the world doesn't revolve around you and your preferences
Poll: Drive-by Fic Recs
So I'm still pretty new on Tumblr and have a question. Since this site has an algorithm and shows you posts by strangers and friends of friends that you might never have interacted with, is it considered rude to leave a fic rec (by yourself or another author) on a stranger's post even if the subject is relevant? Obviously only if it's in the same fandom and pairing, although not if it's someone else's actual fic post. Like it's a meta discussion or a headcanon post or something.
I often come across posts where I think, "Ohh, I've read a fic just like that!" And I love giving and receiving recs, but I've been tending not to share because I'm not sure if it will be welcome. Especially if it's a self-rec.
Hence, poll.
All input welcome, and if you could reblog for a larger sample size, that would be super!
ETA: I'm definitely not talking about reccing fics on other fics' posts. I may be new but I'm not that new, don't worry. 😂 Fair point, though, for sure.
I don't understand why people think it's so "chronically online" to have boundaries while playing online games. It's basic etiquette to leave people alone. You don't just join people's online lobby groups in Roblox do you? Not everyone can afford monthly robux private servers.
Remember kids! it’s not “chronically online” to have boundaries! Yes, even in videogames!
