It Closed In The 80's And Then They Shifted Towards Graphic Design/video Art - Tumblr Posts
Hey @imslimshadey thanks for nominating me!!
I’m Tyler, a writer and textile artist! I also do some drawings, though I’m mostly fixated on fiber.

💗 - fav artists?
Louise Bourgeious- The queen! Textile, sculpture, installation, her poems! Her work is heavily psychology and echoes with the pain of her mind. She one of the first artists I truly connected with at an important time. I cry and weep when I see her work in person, it’s like coming home.
Lenore Tawney- Her free standing hanging textiles. They’re incredibly delicate and sensitive.
Anni Albers- Color master of textiles! Her work is incredibly clean and skilled, I love her use of color and design.
Magdalena Abakanowicz- Her Abakans series and Embryology installation. Her whole body of work is breathtaking. I’ve been able to visit some of her sculpture in person and they radiate with humanity.
Diedrick Brackens- Diedrick’s use of color, texture, and narrative are his strengths. He’s one of the few living textile artists I’m really into and I take inspiration from. I’d like to continue growing and be myself, while learning from people who are affective change makers. It’s really refreshing to see large textile works like his- that command themselves through color and illustration. I strive to be myself and work as I weave away and sow.
🎨 - do u make art?
Yes, I am currently planning some large scale wall hangers on photoshop right now! I’m also making some drawings as well, although they’re for myself. I have my studio set up in my apartment and I work at night/the weekends. I’ve graduated from art school.
✨ - something you’re looking forward to?
Moving to the city! It’s happening in a few months and I’m excited to live in a place that better fits my needs. Also, I’ll be closer to the art scene and have a textile community. I need to get out of my town and freshen up my eyes.
