CMB Power Hour with Dr. Gordon Freeman(2014-2015) was the first original programming for the Combine’s animated propaganda block and the first cartoon entirely animated by Stalkers. Following in the footsteps of shows like Captain Combine and Sailor Combine, which were redubs and edits of pre-war programs, CMB Power Hour was meant to normalize the military occupation of Earth and instill young citizens with a respect for their “Benefactors”, as well as provide helpful tips to dealing with day to day problems in Cities. Notably, it coopted the imagery of Dr. Gordon Freeman in an attempt to undercut Resistance propaganda and folklore.
Each episode followed a basic plot synopsis: Dr. Freeman, MC-1719, Elite-70D and Soldier-325 would come across an issue in their City (Ration shortages, Xen wildlife infestations, etc.) and would be contacted by The Administrator (played by the real Wallace Breen) to investigate it. In the course of their attempts to solve the problem, they would invariably find it was caused by one of the Enemies of the Empire. Common foes included Earth Supremacists (led by Alyx Anticitizen, Isaac Insidious, and Vance Villainous), the Vortigaunts (potrayed as ecoterrorists intent on terraforming Earth to be more like the Borderworld), and the Citizen Syndicate (an exaggeration of the real world black market). Once the villain of the week was defeated, Dr. Freeman and his entourage would deliver a moral about trusting the government and reporting suspicious behavior, as well as a brief segment on day to day living tips.
