Jang Hanseok - Tumblr Posts
Ok so Vincenzo just ended......šš„²
The ending was pretty good but honestly the Jang Brotherās story arc got me pretty bad, it was really sad but also got me thinking about the depth of their relationship.
Ok so, SPOILER ALERT šØ
FOR THE SEASON FINALE(Ep 19-20)
All right, first off, Why why.....WHY DID HANSEO HAVE TO DIE..š„²
Also woah.. Hanseokās death was well really brutal like āSawā level torture but then again canāt expect less from a Vincenzo, a guy who will take a chance to turn his business rivals into fertilizer on a bad day so ya.š³ā ļøš
Ok while Most would talk about Hanseo, Iām going to delve more on his brother Hanseok/Junwoo.š
(Iām gonna call him Hanseok here cause that seems to be his real name)
Ok so personal headcanon: Hanseok secretly cared about Hanseo a bit ( Ok first, probably not the incest thing going letās make that clear here but like a genuine brother/subordinate .)
All right now, before anyone goes about, let me explain :
So There is the whole thing about the Hanseok abusing, not trusting, infantilizing, manipulating, etc. Hanseo (which is not okay andI wonāt make excuses for that) but really I think that was his own twisted way of caring for others.
In Ep 12, when Hanseo asked Hanseok to go hunting, heās genuinely happy like he didnāt doubt an suspicions about the sudden request, yeah maybe itās his pride and confidence of nothing going wrong in the way but then he goes on about how hunting was a way their Father used to get them to become closer, something he has fond memories of. When Hanseok got shot, his face was of pure betrayal and shock like it didnāt cross for a second that would causing his full trust in his brother to become completely broken. I thought Hanseo was pretty much dead at that point but nope he was still alive albeit the strained relationship.
Fast forward, In Ep. 17 when he got arrested, he looked shocked, and somewhat hurt when his brother turned him to the police. In prison, he even asked Myung Hee to watch over him in not blackmail not murder but watch? (Also there is the whole thing about Hanseoās mother asking Hanseok to watch over Hanseo, it could be emotional manipulation or maybe it could be him showing a little care)
In Ep 19, Hanseok finally confronted Hanseo with his own gun against him, it looked like Hanseok was going to kill him for real this time. But when Hanseo began accepting his fate, There was a crack of emotion his Hanseokās face and when the tear began to roll down, there was clear doubt so instead of killing him he just knocked him out. THEN A FEW SCENES LATER HE GAVE THE HOCKEY STICK TO HANSEO AND TOLD HIM TO PICK IT UP. This may be seen as a show of superiority from Hanseok to Hanseo but personally I think this was him giving one last chance to Hanseo despite everything heās done. When Hanseo began attacking him, he only subdued him on the shoulder and arm, not vital points and not killing him.
In Ep 20, after shooting Chayoung, he was about to Vincenzo when Hanseo directed the gun to him. He couldāve shot him at any moment but instead just told him to get away and they stayed that way for about 20 seconds that is until Hanseo begun insulting and saying Hanseok should never have been born. At that point, Hanseok psyche was just gone, he just shot Chayoung, someone he has clear affection for and then heās being degraded to the ground by someone heās as family and a puppet and lower than him ruining his ego and God complex (and we all know how he feels when like sh*t) to which he says screw it and shot him.
But right after that scene, we cut to Hanseok alone in the port pretty much recovering from that adrenaline filled experience then we get a hint of remorse, anger and somewhat regret on his face before throwing the gun to the sea in anger. Now this can be seen him regretting shooting Chayoung and shame from running away from Vincenzo, but this can also be seen as him realizing he just killed his own brother, the only family he has left and was pretty much mentally and emotionally broken at that point. So thatās why he threw away the gun because I think I think at that point he realized he messed up big time and canāt take anything back what heās done but itās too late.
All right, so the points may not be very clear,I could be over analyzing or getting the wrong ideas but I kind find it a touching sentiment that Hanseok cared about Hanseo even just a little bit and makes him a really complex character. Again, Iām not condoning what heās done what he did to Hanseo and other people is horrible. Though with that it does put things into perspective and context should that turn to be true.
Anyway RIP Hanseo, you will forever be in our hearts. š ā„ļø
Han Seo dressing up in his 80's koreatown outfit after another beating:
ooOOHHH I LOVE THIS ANALYSIS SOOO MUCH!!
putting it out further in the (tumblr) universe
Random analysis of Jang Han Seo's clothing! @56707
The high collars - The high collars were essentially there to mimic Han Seok's hands on his throat and presumably to hide bruising. Throughout the day, if Han Seo even turned his head a little his neck would've made contact with the material of the high collars, repeatedly reminding him of his brother so that Han Seok didn't even need to be in the room for Han Seo to be afraid of violence.
His hair - Han Seo's hair is only ever down when his defenses are: at the gym when he is caught off guard, in the waiting room of the hospital and when he's with Vincenzo. His hair is gelled up other times, symbolising his defenses being up and how he was locked into a role he didn't want to have.
The giant safety pin - The giant safety pin served as a constant reminder that Han Seo's life was in his brother's hands. To have a sharp metal object placed around your neck by your abuser would've constantly reminded Han Seo that Han Seok was more than happy to be the cause for his death. For me, it mirrors the scene where Han Seok put a knife to his own throat, manipulating Han Seo into subservience by threatening to end his life.
The glasses - We only see him wear glasses twice in the show. Once, during the scene where Han Seo is waiting outside his fathers hospital room and another time where Han Seo is in his 'disguise'. In the flashback to his fathers death, Han Seo's glasses are clear and round, symbolising how he can see clearly now just how awful his brother could be. The pink glasses he wears in the 80's Korea town outfit showcase how Han Seo was blinded by the exciting possibility of escaping his abuser as seeing the world through pink coloured lenses would make it incredibly difficult to spot any red flags as the red flags would've essentially been barely visible at most.
The 80s Korea town clothes - Han Seo most likely lived most of his life in formal wear after the death of their father so Han Seo's Korea town outfit most likely was there to truly showcase how out of touch Han Seo was with the common person. Han Seo's time was usually spent around people in Babel uniforms or suits themselves and he definitely had no close friends, causing him to not really understand how the average person dressed. His colourful choice shows us this because Han Seo thought it would help him blend in more when in reality it made him stand out because Han Seo doesn't know what normal people who get a choice would choose.
felt. i always had a theory at the back of my head that hanseo will kill hanseok at the end after all the suffering he went through from his childhood, like the anger that he has held in, i honestly would not mind if vincenzo would toss his gun to hanseo and tell him to finish his part. itās hanseo who asked vincenzo to kill his brother but somehow i feel like vincenzo knows there is someone who has a bigger greed to kill hanseok.
So y'all i have been thinking about that scene where Hanseo brings medicines and water for Hanseok. I thought Hanseok wouldn't drink the water or eat the medicines because he didn't trust Hanseo enough, like hanseok knew that he was going on Vincenzo's side. But man, he did drink the water and he did eat the medicines. Hanseok isn't trusting Hanseo, I think, his superiority complex is weighing in again. He doesn't think that someone like Hanseo, weak and dumb, would kill him. He never considered his brother as an equal. That is the reason why I want Hanseo to kill Hanseok. If Vincenzo kills him, he'll be killed by an equal or someone he thinks might be superior to him. But if Hanseo kills him, that would be a disgrace to him. His delusion of being a God will shatter and I need that look of realisation in his eyes that his end has come and he will be killed by his own naive, stupid and dumb brother.
On the contrary, my afflictions have changed because Hanseok killed Vincenzo's mother, an irreparable, monstrous offence, So I want Vincenzo to kill him too. I just really want Hanseo to play a big role in Hanseok's death.
