not so bad - eddie munson

Not So Bad - Eddie Munson

not so bad - eddie munson x fem!byers!reader

summary; will asks his sister how she feels about his new friend eddie munson

warnings; none! Italics = flashbacks, lowercase intended

will came out of the school with a huge smile on his face. only one you normally saw when he was with you, jonathan, and your mom. you and your brothers had begged your mom joyce to stay in hawkins for the kids. especially after the shared trauma, you all endured together as a group. you being their co-babysitter with steve and all. she decided that you could stay hoping there would be no more issues with the upside-down and superficial activity.

will walked up to you and jonathan. he was wearing the infamous hellfire club t-shirt. he was introduced to the club after their leader eddie munson saw him, mike, and dustin, sitting in the cafeteria by themselves on the first day of school that year. needless to say, Jonathan wasn't okay with his baby brother being associated with eddie. after hearing all the bad rumors about him.

on the other hand, will was obsessed with his newest idol. and he loved the fact that he could play dnd with him, after all, that's what the club was about. you loved seeing will have new friends and loved hearing about all the stories from hellfire nights. but there were times when will would talk about them and jonathan no matter how supportive he was would say something about not liking eddie.

tonight was about the same, after watching tv with your mom, you had to go back to the school to pick up jonathan who was working on the school paper with nancy, and will was at hellfire. typically hellfire runs slightly later due to the small celebrations of the win or the slight moping of the losses, which wasn't a big deal to you, you had all the time to spare on waiting for your brothers.

will got in the car and immediately started talking about the newest hellfire campaign. you and jonathan making comments here and there about the campaign. you had only known small bits and pieces about the game but loved hearing about it.

"i think the next campaign will be so much fun, eddie's like a pro at being the dungeon master" will smiled

"i don't really like you hanging out with him bud, it's just the things i've heard i don't like" jonathan but-in

"eddie's not like that jonathan, why don't you try and talk to him he's so cool" will said defending eddie with his life.

"i don't know man i just don't like the stuff i've heard." jonathan said back.

"well he's my friend, you like him don't you y/n?" will looked you dead in the eyes through the rearview mirror. you smiled softly.

you looked around, your anxiety starting to slightly rise. it was one of the first times you had lied to your mom and older brother. you told them you were going to hang out with your best friend robin, with her covering for you even giving your mom a call saying that you were going to have a sleepover until monday and that you would be home monday night after your extracurricular activities. but in reality, you were going to see a special someone for those 2 nights.

"guess who?"

out of nowhere ringed hands covered your eyes slightly startling you. but you knew who it was by the voice that followed the action. knowing who it was you smiled and chuckled. the hands moved to your waist and swiftly spun you around.

"hey sweetheart sorry i was late, had a thing to deal with for the band" he smiled at you.

"eds you were only like 5 minutes late it's okay," you sheepishly mumbled.

"i know but you seemed fidgety and you get fidgety when your anxious, and when your anxious i get anxious, and-"

"eddie, baby it's okay i'm not anxious about you being late i was anxious about lying to my mom and jonathan" you fumbled with your fingers looking at your feet guilt washing over you.

eddie put his hand on your chin moving your face upwards and smirked slyly. he leaned down to give you a small peck on your lips and then your nose. you smiled once again not knowing what to do with yourself.

"i think we'll be just fine princess, robin has you covered."

you shook your head, knowing how robin was when she was anxious. a complete and total blabbering mess. but you knew your mom she trusted you with her life, and with that, she didn't give a second thought to you going to robin's for the weekend. only you weren't, you were going to be staying the weekend with eddie. jonathan was the issue, he had questions about where you were going and why you had been hanging out with robin and steve a lot more often than just work. but eddie was here, and that's all that mattered.

"now, let's go get a pizza and watch a movie, what did you get for us this time?" he smiled grabbing your hand and intertwining your fingers together.

"it's a surprise" you chirped.

he gasped dramatically and walked you to his van. this time it was silent. but it was a comfortable silence. you loved hanging out with eddie. he never failed to make you comfortable. no relationship you had ever had felt like this.

you two had been in a secret relationship for about 7 months ever since you had ran into him at the grocery store in the middle of the night when you were home alone. he was there to get some snacks and a new lighter. you were there to get snacks and some feminine products because it just so happened to be that time of the month and neither you nor your mom had any. you had accidentally bumped into eddie and he walked you home. you two then meeting up in the woods after school or during lunch. then it went to hanging out at his place and watching movies or listening to music or sometimes just chatting. you had also helped eddie with his homework a few times. after a few weeks, eddie expressed his feelings and you two began your relationship.

eddie opened the door for you and helped you hop into the passenger seat of his van. he then raced around to his side and got in. turning on the van and leaving the park you were at. he drove all the way to the pizza shop, you two going in to get a pepperoni pizza and some hot wings and then leaving.

eddie grabbed your hand and held it the whole drive to his trailer. when he parked in his usual spot he raced around to your side of the van and helped you out. he then led you to the front door where he let you in first.

when you got in you immediately walked over to the couch. eddie following suit after he locked the front door. you had the pizza and wings in hand along with the movie that you had decided on, or should you say movies. you had begged your manager keith to let you take the star wars series, for you and eddie to watch over the weekend and you would bring them back before you went to school on Monday.

"alright princess what movie did you pick for us tonight? gotta start it now or we'll never get to it," eddie smirked making you blush.

"uhm why don't you take a look at them they're in my backpack." you smiled pointing to your backpack.

eddie dramatically flopped onto your lap grabbing your backpack shortly after making you giggle your guts out. he unzipped the backpack and grabbed three vhs cases. looking at the covers he looked up at you. eddies normal smirk turned into a huge puppy grin. He sat up and kissed you all over. pure excitement radiating through his and your bodies.

"babe you had told me you never wanted to watch star wars, are you kidding me!!" he smiled.

"i decided to give it a chance, you know after hearing you and my little brother talk about it so much" you replied, taking in a few more pecks and kisses from eddie.

"i promise you, you'll love it" he smiled.

after giving you a few more loving kisses he got up and popped in star wars a new hope in the VHS player. He sat back down on the end of the couch. leaning over and grabbing you by your waist and pulling you onto him.

you two had finished your pizza and wings, by this time you were almost asleep on eddies lap. your head in the crook of his shoulder. eddie on the other hand was wide awake and so into the movie. you knew it was one of his favorite series. so you were trying so hard to stay awake. but you hadn't even paid attention to the movie, you were more focused on the boy holding you. his smile when it got to his favorite scenes or when he mouthed certain lines. all the while he was tracing patterns on your thigh or stroking your hair.

"baby are you even watching?" eddie whined when he heard you yawn.

"yeah, yeah I'm watching, luke just watched obi wan die, and now luke's running from darth vader. i promise i'm paying attention"  you mumbled into his neck.

"babe if you're tired we can pause for the night and go to sleep," he looked down at you.

"no, it's okay eds let's just finish it," you tried to stifle a yawn.

eddie chuckled and scoot you over and got up. he walked over to the tv and pushed stop on the VHS player. taking the tap out and setting it back into its case. he walked over and picked you up bridal style moving your backpack to the side, ignoring it. he'd pick it up in the morning and put the extra clothes in his drawer when he woke up. you nuzzled into his chest, his small chuckle making your heart flutter.

after kicking his bedroom door open he sat you down on his bed. as he walked over to his dresser to find you a shirt and sweats he kicked off his pants and t-shirt, leaving him in only his boxers. you were already half asleep but still watching his every move. he grabbed an old motley crue shirt and a pair of his old sweats.

knowing you were so fast to falling asleep he helped you stand up. setting the shirt and pants on the bed. he then helped you pull off your skirt and your sweater. he pulled the shirt over your head and you slipped your arms through. then he helped you slide on his old sweatpants over your thighs.

when you were done he let you lay down on his bed. he grabbed the blanket that you loved, it was big, green, and fluffy. he spread it over your body. you almost immediately fell asleep. but you were missing one thing, eddie. he was getting ready for bed but you were a whining mess. your eyes followed him everywhere he went.

"baby, come on just get in bed please" you whined rolling over to lay on his pillow.

"i am, don't you worry my love, i just need to do some things" he smiled at you.

"eddie i can't sleep without you here" you mumbled

"what do you do when I'm not with you then? what about all of those so-called naps that will claims you take?" eddie looked at you.

"what?! nooo, i don't take naps. i only take naps when we cuddle" you said jokingly.

"mhm sure you do" he shook his head.

after a few moments, eddie was finally done doing whatever he was doing. as he finished he walked over and slowly got in his small bed, trying not to disturb you. you immediately noticed his presence and cuddled into him. his smile growing as you nuzzled your face into his barren chest, and your leg snaking over his two. one of his arms wrapped around your waist, the other stroking your hair.

you looked up at eddie, he was just staring down at you. as he always did. you didn't say a word, you just pecked his lips. he then pulled you in for a small yet passionate goodnight kiss.

"goodnight eds i love you" you smiled softly

"goodnight y/n i love you more than you'll ever know" he mumbles into your hair planting a small kiss on your head.

"y/n hey you like eddie right?" will asked once again. snapping you out of your small trance.

your small smile never failed. all you could think of were images of you and eddie in your mind. knowing you couldn't tell will or jonathan about your relationship, without eddie's consent. after all, you weren't the only one in the relationship and you wanted him to be involved in a very important step, which was telling your family.

"he's not so bad"

Could you do some fluff Joseph Quinn x reader (she/her), were they just having fun together at home , some playfights, Joe being an teasing af boyfriend

Thx, luv ya

God I should really sleep (also this isn't proofread)

As you and Joseph lie comfortably on the couch watching a movie, you can't help but be drawn to him, you always are anyway. He seems to recognize your familiar gaze on him. "Are you even watching the movie anymore?" He asks you as his arms snake around your waist and pull you closer.

"I am!" You say defensively- and you know exactly what's coming next. "So what's going on right now?" Joseph asks you teasingly. Of course, you huff. You haven't been paying attention to the movie and both of you know it. Of course you try to answer, vague and something that happened probably 20 minutes ago, but you try. And you fail, of course.

"Can we watch a movie for once without you staring? Or do I need to buy horse blinders or something?" He teases. Not the damn horse blinders again, you swear, he'll never stop bringing those up. "Oh, come on, really? The horse thing again?" You huff.

You follow him into the kitchen as he gets up, sitting on the counter behind him as he presses the buttons on the microwave. "Yes, the horse thing again! Forget the horse blinders, might as well just get you a whole blindfold" He adds. You don't retort, just muttering something about him being an idiot. An idiot, but you love him, even when he acts like an old man any time he has glasses on.

He spins by with a now full bowl of popcorn, poking your bicep and holding the popcorn high above you. It's not a struggle for you to reach it, but he still likes to try.

Of course, you two get into a full blown food fight with the popcorn, and none of it gets into either of your mouths, all of it now wasted on the floor. "I mean, the floor is clean" Joseph says, only half joking.

How about Joesph Quinn and female reader being pretty close friends, secretly in love with each other. They always acting like a couple, bit never admit/ realize it (two idiots in love) And after a bit of time a private moment where they having their finally first kiss and confessing their love🙌🏻💕

You were lying on your bed, Joseph laying across your legs. You're busy talking to your friend on the phone, too busy to notice Joseph's head on your stomach as he shifts positions to lay between your legs on his back.

"Let me guess, Joesph is there?" Your friend asks, and you turn the camera around to show them Joeeph laying across you. "Gold star" You say. Of course, when you realize how he's laying you feel your face heat up- that oblivious idiot laying on you like that. He tilts his head back to look at your phone and gives your friend a polite wave."God, why don't you two just date already!? It's so annoying" Your friend huffs, clearly annoyed that you two are still just friends. Joseph looks away rather quickly, but you swear his ears are as red as yours. "Shut up.." You mutter to your friend before they abruptly hang up not bothering to give a warning anymore.

Joseph looks up at you again, titling his head back once more. "Should we talk about that?" Joseph asks. It almost confuses you, but what else could he be talking about? His ears are a bright red, and you don't think yours are any different, honestly. "Alright." You say simply. Joseph sits up off of you and looks quite uneasy, an expression you don't like seeing on the poor doe-eyed man. He takes a deep breath and figs his palms into the mattress before speaking.

"Would you ever consider that?" He asks you, avoiding your gaze up until the very end. "Like, with you? I mean, yeah." You say, deciding to just spit it out even if you don't know how to follow it up, but it looks like you just told him Christmas came early. "You would?" He asks you. You nod and force your gaze away from those big brown eyes of his. You take a deep breath before nodding. Then he scoots forward just a little bit

"do you mind if I...kiss you?" He asks oh so softly. Your eyes dart to his full pink lips for a moment and you nod once more, completely lost for words. You manage to squeak out a yes and he gently puts a hand on the back of your neck before your lips meet his. Your eyes flutter closed after a moment, he's gentle with you, yet still passionate. His lips are soft against yours and you wish you had put some chapstick on beforehand. When you both pull away, both of you idiots burst into giggles.

"Was I really that obvious?" You ask in a whisper and he laughs again. "I think we both were" He says quietly before kissing you again

With the Band

With The Band

a/n: I saw the video of Joe and had to do this. I would love to go to shows and meet artists with this man. I know music means a lot to him. Also I had to make the girlfriend a concert photographer, I HAD TO. Anyways enjoying this sweet moment<3 I do not give permission to repost my work anywhere!

pairing: Joseph Quinn x fem!photographer reader

wc: 1.4k

warnings: just fluff and a bit of swearing!

You can still remember the look on Joseph’s face when he got the call from his manager. Metallica wanted to invite him out to their headlining show at Lollapalooza 2022 in Chicago. You were convinced he was like a little boy on Christmas. He was bouncing up and down the walls for weeks. Working logistics out, he was able to score a backstage pass for you as well because he wanted his best girl to experience this with him.

Sure you had been to plenty of shows with Joe, especially Haim shows as he was good friends with the youngest Alana. But meeting a legendary band the both of you grew up on, you couldn’t help but feel over the moon. Premieres, press junkets and cons later you finally found yourself in the bustling city of Chicago. The sweltering heat was no joke as you were grateful you packed a plethora of shorts, skirts and dresses. Your hotel room wasn’t too far from the festival grounds and you could see the crowds forming outside the venue.

“It doesn’t feel real,” he murmured as you walked up next to him, wrapping your arms around his waist. Your chin resting barely on his shoulder as you looked out the window towards the city’s busy landscape. “Well you aren’t dreaming that’s for sure. You worked hard for this. Everything. Not just meeting the band but the fans, the love, the attention. I know your worth and so do you.” His hands threaded with yours and the two of you stayed there a bit.

One of the many people on his team came knocking, letting the both of you know that it had been time to head to the music fest. “It’s now or never, rockstar.”

The car ride consisted of Joe practicing different jokes, lots of head banging and air guitars. Metallica blasted through the speakers of the Cadillac Escalade that held his team. You could tell he was getting nervous with the way his leg was bouncing up and down and he had been biting his thumb nail. “Hey, it’s alright baby. They are gonna love you Joe. The love that the show has brought to the Metallica fans is astounding. They would be crazy not to!” “No I know, it’s just that these guys are absolute legends and they have done so much.” “I will be right by your side, you know this.”

His hand was tightly held in yours as badges were checked in and security got through the both of you and his team. These green and lavender fabric wristbands adorned everyone’s wrists with the words “Backstage Pass” embroidered on it. It felt surreal as the two of you walked over to the private areas restricted for artists. His hand squeezing yours as signs littered with “Metallica” were becoming more apparent. “It’s all happening,” you whispered in his ear as you were jumping up and down.

A security guard told you two to wait for a minute while the band got situated. His eyes went wide in disbelief as he looked around. “Holy shit we are meeting Metallica. Fuckin’ Metallica babe,” he was going mental and it made you giggle at how excited he was becoming. That’s when he went quiet. You turned around to see a face pop around the corner. Long, curly, gray hair was falling everywhere around his face. Kirk Hammet. “Hey guys! Come in and meet the rest of the crew!” It was all happening.

Lars, James, Kirk and Robert were all there in person. You just knew you looked like a young fangirl. Joe was in a practical button up and his favorite Levi jeans paired with some worn down tan boots. You on the other hand were in a faux black leather skirt that laces up on either side. Yet, the show stopper was a corset made from a ‘Master of Puppets’ shirt. All of this paired with your favorite pair of Docs.

They had all been there in their ‘metal glory’. The lead singer stepped up taking your boyfriend’s hand, “You’re taller than on TV!” Everyone erupted in laughter as introductions were thrown around and compliments were starting to get mixed together.

The 6 of you got settled in as filming crews were plastered around to capture this gracious experience on behalf of Netflix. James and Joe immediately started going back and forth about the show and the previous seasons. You and the rest of the band watched in awe. It was unlike any other meet and greet you had done with artists. Kirk had one of his guitars cradled in his hands as he struck up a conversation with you. “Hey I understand you’re a photographer?”

This took you by surprise. “Y-yea I am! I met Joseph at a show I was working at actually!” The two of you started comparing anecdotes once James gave his thanks to your British lover when you and the 59 year old guitarist joined in along with the group. “Oh my god that was what we practically heard for two years,” you quipped up. Nodding in agreement, he added,”We feel sort of connected to you guys.” The conversation felt like it lasted an eternity when Robert pondered a great question, “You wanna jam with us?”

The flustered man to your left spouted an answer of being a bit ‘rusty’ and joked how he might need a lesson or two. The nearly 40 year old band led the way to the tuning room where the in-ears and guitars and basses were held. Drum kits with picks and sticks were everywhere. It was truly a music lover's dream. “We even got you a pair of in-ears.Not sure if you’ve used them but now you are officially a rockstar,” James explained. You sat on the other side of the room to see the love of your life get to play amongst musical geniuses.

Pictures and videos were being taken as you wanted to freeze this moment in time. Lars gave a 4 count to the  beginning of the song as the three guitarists synced and Robert plucked at the strings of his bass. The all too familiar song flooded your ear canals and you moshed your head in time with the beat. As much as the two of you were repeating this, it truly was surreal.

A wide grin spread across his face as the song came to a stop but he was over the moon. He let out one of his famous giggles as Lars announced into one of the cameras that Metallica was now suiting up to be a 5 piece. Joining your boyfriend with the rest of the band, Robert brought out a rather large but flat case. Gasps from Joe and you filled the room as you clapped in surprise.

An exact replica of the NJ Warlock by B.C. Rich Guitar was gifted to your boyfriend as he dropped to his knees in a whirlwind of emotions. Your hands intrinsically went under his arms to bring him back to his feet. Tears started slipping down your face as you couldn’t hide your happiness for him. Just the kindness and atmosphere the band created for him was incredible.

“Well we could sign it for you and fuck it all up,” James nonchalantly offered. Your eyes shot straight to his, answering before  your boyfriend could. “Would you mind?” A silver sharpie was being brought out as Joseph held the guitar for more stability as each member one by one autographed the special gift.

It was unspoken that pictures had to be taken. The band and Joseph. The band and you. Then  eventually the lot of you.

The guitar had been gently placed back in the case as it was already being shipped back to his flat across the Atlantic. Graces, goodbyes and words of luck were exchanged in regards to the show later in the evening. Hugs and handshakes were the last thing that connected you and the band before leaving.

Small tears were coating your boyfriend’s cheeks as you walked back to your designated area. “That was incredible and I am so proud of you,” you whispered as you pulled him in for a tight and warming hug. “Most metal ever,” he mumbled. The two of you let out small laughs as he rested his forehead on yours.

“Let’s head to the stage, rockstar.”

In Your Embrace- Joseph Quinn

In Your Embrace- Joseph Quinn

Description: Joe has a rough day at work, but at the end of the day he gets to unwind and distract himself with the only person he would rather spend time with.

Word count: 1772

Warnings: None, Pure Fluff

Joe had only been home for about an hour, still shaking off the exhaustion of a long day filled with back-to-back meetings and endless tasks. He hadn’t had a moment to reach out to Y/N, the one person who could always make him feel grounded. Now, finally settled in bed, he picked up his phone and scrolled through his apps, feeling the quiet of his apartment settle around him.

It was just before 9:30 p.m., their usual time to reconnect when the chaos of the day would finally quiet down. With a tired but eager sigh, Joe tapped on the FaceTime icon. A wave of anticipation mixed with the weariness still clinging to him as he waited for her face to appear on the screen.

Y/N had just stepped out of the shower when her phone rang. She wrapped a towel around herself, glancing at the screen before answering the call. Her hair, still damp, clung to her cheeks, and she greeted him with a soft smile. "Hiiii," she said, showing just half of her face through the camera, her eyes narrowing in that familiar way when she smiled.

Joe appeared on her screen, a small grin tugging at his lips. “Hey, love,” he greeted, his voice warm but edged with noticeable tiredness. He could see she was still finishing up her routine, her usual products on sight.

“Do you want me to call you back later?” he asked softly, noticing she was still getting dressed. His tone was gentle, trying not to rush her.

Y/N quickly shook her head. “No, it’s alright. I’m nearly done,” she replied, disappearing from the screen momentarily to pull on some clothes. Her voice was slightly muffled as she added, “How are you? How’s your day been?”

Joe’s smile faded a bit, and he let out a small sigh, his accent a little thicker, making his words sound heavier. “It was alright,” he said vaguely, his tone subdued. “Just thought I’d call you before you go to bed.”

When Y/N returned to view, her body fully in the frame now, she noticed the shift in his expression. “Did something happen? You seem a bit off,” she pressed gently, a playful yet concerned lilt to her voice as she searched his face through the screen.

Joe shook his head, trying to make himself comfortable, shifting his position on the bed while keeping his gaze fixed on her. “I’m fine, don’t worry about it. Just tell me about your day,” There was a hint of effort in his voice, as if he were trying too hard to sound casual.

Though not entirely convinced, Y/N decided to play along. She began recounting the events of her day, adding in some of the gossip they both enjoyed. Joe’s lips curved into a small smile, his dimples deepening whenever he laughed softly at her stories. He made the occasional comment, enough to keep the conversation flowing, but his usual energy was missing.

Despite the lighthearted banter, it was clear to Y/N that something was weighing on Joe’s mind. She could see it in the way he occasionally rubbed his temple or how his fingers tapped restlessly against the bed sheets.

“Okay, I’m sorry. But... Are you sure you’re okay? It doesn’t seem like it.”

Joe let out a long sigh, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he finally admitted, “I’ve had a rough day with press interviews and handling logistics for the next project. Just a bit under the weather. Nothing specific. But it’ll pass…”

Y/N nodded, her expression softening. “Is there anything I can do to cheer you up? We could watch a film or do something else you fancy.”

Joe’s lips curved into a faint, tired smile. “I wouldn’t mind one of your hugs right now.”

“A hug?” Y/N chuckled, a playful glint in her eyes. “I'm always down for that. What are we gonna do about that then?”

His smile widened, his dimples becoming more pronounced. He glanced at his phone, considering it for a moment. “Fancy a drive? I can pick you up if you’re not too tired.”

“Sure. Can I go like this?” Y/N asked, showing him her oversized T-shirt and biker shorts.

“Yeah, you’re fine like that. I’ll be there in 15 minutes, alright?”

“Sounds good. See you soon."

They hung up, both moving quickly to get ready. Joe grabbed a blanket and an extra hoodie, just in case, then left his flat and fetched the car from the garage. He sent Y/N a quick text as he arrived, and she hurried out, shivering slightly in the night’s chill.

When Y/N slid into the car, she greeted Joe with a smile and a quick kiss. He smiled back, letting her choose the music as he drove. The hum of the engine and the familiar beats of their shared playlist filled the space, creating a comforting backdrop for their light chatter. Y/N kept her conversation minimal, sensing that Joe needed some quiet to process whatever was on his mind.

After a few minutes, Joe reached out, his free hand searching for hers. Y/N intertwined their fingers without hesitation, and he began gently stroking her hand, placing a soft kiss on her knuckles, his eyes never leaving the road. His serious yet calm demeanor reassured her, even as his arm flexed slightly with each turn, veins visible in the dim light.

They made a quick stop at a petrol station for snacks and drinks. Y/N chuckled at Joe's snack haul, grabbing a chocolate bar while Joe picked an assortment of crisps and a couple of fizzy drinks. Back on the road, he took a sip of his drink and grinned mischievously.

“Did you know that cows can have best friends? They get stressed when they’re separated from them. So, if you ever see a cow looking sad, it might just be missing its BFF.”

Y/N looked at him with a blank face, biting into her chocolate. “Hmm, exactly how you act when you're not around me,” she quipped back, a teasing smile playing on her lips.

Joe raised an eyebrow, trying not to smile. "Alright, your turn."

"Okay, I got one. Why don’t scientists trust atoms?"

Joe gave a mock sigh, playing along. "Why?"

“Because they make up everything…” Y/N said with a smirk. She paused before adding, "Kinda like you do."

Joe rolled his eyes, sighing dramatically. "Oh, so we're going there, are we?"

They continued their playful banter, tossing silly jokes back and forth. Joe’s tone grew more animated as they went on, his laughter becoming more genuine. Y/N could see the tension melting away from his features, his smile becoming more relaxed.

“Alright, alright. I think you’ve won this round,” Joe finally conceded, a wide grin spreading across his face. The trivia game, filled with side glances and stifled chuckles, had turned into a riot of laughter. Their playful competition kept the mood light and joyful, making the drive an enjoyable experience despite Joe’s earlier down mood.

Eventually, they arrived at a quaint park with a panoramic view just outside the suburbs. Joe grabbed the blanket and hoodie, and Y/N followed him.

They both took in the view, and he handed Y/N the blanket to keep her warm while he wrapped himself in the hoodie.

“I’ve only been here a handful of times,” Joe said, his voice softer now. “But there’s something about this place that I really love.”

“I mean... The view alone is reason enough,” Y/N replied with a smile. “I don’t think I would have experienced England the way I have if it weren’t for you.”

“You probably would have,” Joe said, mimicking her expression and sitting on the edge of the car. “There’s still so much more I want you to see.”

“Good thing we’ve got some time.”

Y/N lingered for a few moments before turning to Joe with a playful grin. Joe was already looking at her, his expression shifting from confusion to a small smile as she moved closer and opened her arms for a hug.

He welcomed her with open arms and a warm laugh, letting her hold him tight as she wrapped him in the blanket. His arms rested gently on the lower part of her back, and his chin rested on top of her head, leaving a soft kiss there.

Since they’d met, Joe had noticed Y/N wasn’t a big fan of physical touch with just anyone. Only a few people got that kind of affection from her, and thankfully, he was one of them.

He never turned down a hug, kiss, or even the smallest touch from her, even if they were upset with each other.

“Hey,” Joe murmured after a while. Y/N lifted her head to meet his gaze. Joe smiled down at her, taking in her features and the pimple patch she had on before leaning in for a kiss.

Joe’s kisses usually started soft, almost as if offering a preview of what was to come. When he deepened the kiss, his hand, adorned with rings, cupped her face while the other hand held her waist securely.

Their lips moved together in a rhythm that seemed to crave more, and when Joe bit her lip, Y/N melted, letting his tongue explore as the intensity grew.

They only broke apart when they needed air, both of them noticing how their lips had turned red and slightly plumper.

Y/N smiled shyly, her cheeks flushed as if it were the first time they had shared such a tender moment. She rested her face against his chest for a brief second, making Joe genuinely laugh.

“Only gave you a kiss and your knees are already weak?” Joe teased with a laugh, his eyes becoming smaller with the act.

Y/N playfully punched his chest, laughing. “Shut up, Joe.”

“But am I even lying? ” he said, trying not to laugh as his hands wandered to her backside and gave it a playful squeeze.

“Joseph!” she exclaimed, half-laughing, half-protesting.

“Alright, alright, I’m sorry! Don’t be looking so good then. It’s not my fault,” Joe said, his tone light and teasing.

“I literally look like a bag lady,” Y/N laughed along with him. “Leave me alone.”

“I haven’t done anything to you. It’s my presence that makes you nervous.”

“No, it doesn’t. Don’t let it go to your head,” Y/N retorted with a small, playful smile.

Joe laughed even harder and pulled her closer, allowing himself to enjoy all of her presence. Spending time alone together turned out to be exactly what Joe needed, making the hours of stress and exhaustion seem now like a complete distant memory.

Crossed Paths- Joseph Quinn

Crossed Paths- Joseph Quinn

Description: Joe's stressful day at LAX takes an unexpected turn when he reaches out to (Y/N), a flight attendant, but most importantly, the girl he has been in love with for so long.

Warnings: None, RPF Fic

Word Count: 2434 (A long one!)

————————————————————————

Joe was going through a particularly rough day. He had been at the Los Angeles airport for hours, desperately trying to find a flight to London. With cancellations, fully booked flights, and limited options, it was looking increasingly unlikely that he’d make it in time to be with his family for the birth of his godchild. His frustration was palpable, a gnawing sense of urgency mingling with helplessness.

In a moment of desperation, he pulled out his phone and hesitated before typing a message to (Y/N), the woman he’d been trying so hard to forget over the past month after their last interaction.

Joseph Q.

“Hey (Y/N),”

The message felt strange and awkward as he tapped away, but he pressed on.

“Sorry to text you out of the blue, but I think I might need your help.”

“Is there any way you can help me get a flight to London? Ashley’s labor started a bit earlier than expected, and I’ve been stuck at LAX for hours with no luck finding a flight.”

“I’m really sorry to bother you with this, but you’re my last resort.”

Meanwhile, (Y/N) was in the middle of a private flight to her next destination, fully absorbed in her responsibilities. It took nearly two hours before she could check her phone. Seeing Joe’s name pop up made her heart skip a beat, but she quickly set her emotions aside and decided to respond setting her feelings aside.

(Y/N) ✈️🖤

“Hey,”

“I’m on a flight right now, but once I land, I’ll see what I can do to help. I’ll let you know once I have news.”

Joe’s sigh of relief was almost audible as he read her reply. His fingers fumbled a bit as he typed his thanks.

Joseph Q.

“Thank you so much. We’ll be in touch.”

As soon as (Y/N) landed, she dove into the post-flight procedures with a sense of urgency. With only an hour before her next flight, she made her way to the airline’s ticketing desk. Despite her efforts to expedite the process, the options were grim; no flights available for several hours. Frustrated but undeterred, she moved to a VIP lounge and began making calls, hoping for a miracle.

After about fifteen minutes, her persistence paid off. An operator managed to secure a seat for Joe the following day at noon. As soon as she had the details, she shot Joe a message requesting his passport number and payment information. The minutes felt like hours as she awaited his response, but soon enough, Joe’s details arrived. Moments later, she was on the phone with him.

“I got you the flight,” she said, navigating her way to her next gate. “It’s private and at noon tomorrow, but at least you’ll get there.”

Joe’s smile was wide, the tension melting away from his shoulders.

“You’re literally the best. You don’t know how much this means to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“No worries. I know how important it is for you to be there with your family. Listen, I have to go, but I’d suggest you go back to where you’re staying, take a shower, eat something, and get a bit of rest. There are quite a couple hours left before your flight. Make the most of them.”

“Yeah… Yeah, for sure, I’ll do that. I’m going to let you go now, okay? I know you’re still working. I’m sorry and once again, thank you so much.”

“Okay, Joe, I got it,” (Y/N) laughed softly, the warmth in her voice evident. “Take care.”

She hung up and quickly transitioned to boarding her own flight. Meanwhile, Joe grabbed his suitcase and backpack and called an Uber to head back to his apartment. Despite his exhaustion, his mind was a whirlwind of anxiety and lingering thoughts about these last months events.  That night, sleep came reluctantly, interrupted by worries about missing out such an important moment with the people he loved and the memory of that last conversation he had with (Y/N). Suddenly, his mind transported him all over again to that late afternoon of the 8th of January.

A warm sun cast glow stood over the park as Joe and (Y/N) settled onto a bench after Joe ditched an event he had been invited to. They’d both decided it was worth stealing a couple hours for them to spend time together before (Y/N) needed to leave for work again. The conversation flowed easily at first, punctuated by comfortable laughter and complicity. Yet, beneath the surface, there was an undercurrent of tension that neither of them could ignore after some of the last situations that had been occurring.

(Y/N) shifted nervously, her fingers tracing the patterns on her coffee cup. “Joe, there’s something I need to talk to you about,” she began, her voice tinged with hesitation.

Joe looked at her with a mix of curiosity and concern. “What’s on your mind?”

“I’ve been thinking a lot about this.. I mean, us.” she said, struggling to find the right words. “I just don’t see how our lives can really be together in any way beyond what we have now. I mean, we’re in such different places, and it feels like we’re trying so hard to fit puzzle pieces together that are never going to be meant for each other…”

The words hung heavily in the air, and Joe’s heart sank. He had feared this moment but hearing it out loud made it feel more real than ever.

“You think we can’t make this work?” Joe asked, his voice barely masking the pain he felt. “I can’t accept that. Not after everything we’ve been through, not after all the time we’ve spent together. I don’t want to see you as just a friend. I can’t.”

Joe’s heart dropped at her words. He leaned forward, his voice cracking slightly. “I can’t accept that, (Y/N). We’ve built something real here, something worth fighting for. This can’t be over before we’ve even had a real chance…”

(Y/N) looked away, her own heart feeling like it was about to explode. “Joe, I care about you more than you know, but sometimes that just isn’t enough… You know I’ve tried. But our realities just seem too far apart. I don’t want us to get hurt. It’s just not real.”

The park grew quiet around them as the sun began to set, leaving the two of them in a silence heavy with unspoken words. Joe was mad. It wasn’t fair to him to be denied the one person he wanted most. He felt frustrated and helpless, knowing that even though she faced her own grueling work demands, he their own needs and desires were being overshadowed by the reality of his status in society and of the amount of pressure that came with that. The world seemed to stand still for a moment, and Joe’s voice broke through the quiet with a final, resolute statement.

“If we’re not willing to fight for this, then what’s the point of all the effort we’ve put in?” Joe’s voice trembled with conviction. “I’m not willing to just settle, (Y/N). I refuse to let everything we’ve shared be for nothing.”

But he did settle. He let it go, and the weight of that decision still felt like a crushing blow, one of the deepest regrets he’d ever harbored. The echo of his own words haunted him as he lay in bed, wrestling with the sting of lost possibilities and unspoken promises. Despite his restless mind, he managed only a few fitful hours of sleep before his alarm jolted him awake. He hurriedly prepared for the day, his movements automatic. Once he reached the airport, the check-in and security process went smoothly. He slumped into his designated area, waiting for his flight to depart in three hours. An hour into his wait, Joe’s phone buzzed with a new message, interrupting his music.

(Y/N) ✈️🖤

“Are you still at the gate?”

Joe paused the music and leaned forward, eager to respond.

Joseph Q.

“Yeah. Still got an hour of waiting left.”

(Y/N) ✈️🖤

“Have you eaten anything?”

Confused, he quickly replied with a no.

(Y/N) ✈️🖤

“Okay. Remind me of your gate number.”

Joe’s heart raced as he read the message. He sent his gate number and then scanned the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of (Y/N). Just as he was about to give up, he saw her approaching, her suitcase in tow and a few items in hand, and he couldn’t help but smile. He stood up and waved, trying to make his presence known.

They met in the middle of the bustling terminal. (Y/N) greeted him with a warm smile, and Joe took some of her bags, their hands brushing briefly.

“What are you doing here?” he asked, though he was already half expecting the answer.

“I work here,” she said, raising an eyebrow, causing Joe to chuckle.

“I mean here as in literally here… Like right in front of me.”

“I don’t know,” she shrugged with a hint of playfulness. “I figured you hadn’t eaten with all the nerves, so I wanted to make sure you had something in your stomach. You have a long flight ahead of you.”

Joe shook his head, a smile spreading across his face.

“You making this so hard for me, you know? Doing all these things when you don’t have to… I don’t even know what to thank you.”

“You don’t have to say anything. It’s just how I am…” She glanced away, then looked back at him. “I’m supposed to be done for the day. I could stay a bit while you wait for your flight if you want some company.”

“Oh, hell yes. Come on,” he said, already pulling her suitcase. “Let’s find a spot to sit.”

They found a quieter corner of the terminal, a small oasis amidst the chaos. (Y/N) pulled out a coffee she’d picked up for herself and took a sip, her eyes softening as she watched Joe. He was hunched over a sandwich, his exhaustion evident but still somehow striking.

“So…” Joe ventured, his attempt at casual conversation tinged with nervous energy. “How have you been?”

(Y/N) flashed him a warm smile, her gaze lingering just a bit longer than usual. “I’m good. Just the usual grind. How about you?”

“I’ve been well,” Joe said, his tone casual but his fidgeting betraying him. “I’m wrapped up in a project for the next few months. Back in LA soon, though. You know how it is—work.” He hesitated, glancing at his coffee cup as if it might offer some solace. “It’s been a while, and I…”

(Y/N) couldn’t help but laugh softly, a sound filled with affection. “You’re really nervous, aren’t you?”

“Am I?” Joe asked, trying to sound nonchalant but clearly failing. “I guess I didn’t know how things would go after we hadn’t talked for a while.”

(Y/N) leaned in slightly, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Chill out, Joe. We’re just catching up. It’s not a performance.”

Joe chuckled, looking both relieved and sheepish. “I guess I’m a bit rusty at this whole ‘casual conversation’ thing.”

“Oh, come on,” (Y/N) teased, her grin widening. “You’re an actor! If you can handle dramatic monologues and intense scenes, surely you can handle a simple chat with me.”

Joe raised an eyebrow, his smirk growing. “True. But I’ve always had a weakness for certain people. I turn into a bit of a mess when I’m around you. You know that, right?”

(Y/N) playfully rolled her eyes, but her smile remained. “Well, that’s good to know. At least I can still make you nervous. It’s nice to have that kind of power, don’t you think?”

Joe’s smile softened, and for a moment, the weight of their complicated past seemed to lift, leaving behind a shared sense of ease and familiarity.

After chatting and sharing a few laughs, Joe glanced at the clock and realized it was almost time for him to head to his private flight area.

“Well, I guess it’s time for me to go,” Joe said, looking a bit reluctant. “I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”

(Y/N) stood up, smiling softly. “I’ll walk you to your gate. It’s the least I can do after all the trouble you’ve been through.”

Joe smiled gratefully. “I’d like that.”

They walked together through the bustling terminal, heading towards the private flight area. The conversation remained light, filled with easy laughter and casual comments about the absurdities of airport life.

As they reached the entrance to the private flight lounge, Joe stopped and turned to (Y/N), his expression a mix of gratitude and something else—something deeper.

“Well,” he said, his voice softening, “I guess this is where we part ways for now.”

(Y/N) nodded, her eyes meeting his. “Yeah. It’s been really nice catching up. And, uh, good luck with everything.”

Joe hesitated for a moment, then took a step closer, his gaze lingering on her lips. “You too. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.”

There was a brief silence as they both seemed to hesitate, unsure of the next move. Finally, Joe gently cupped (Y/N)’s face with his hands, his touch tender but uncertain.

(Y/N) looked up at him, her heart racing. “Joe…”

He leaned in slowly, and (Y/N) met him halfway. Their lips brushed in a soft, lingering kiss—hesitant but filled with a quiet, shared longing. It was brief, but it held the weight of their unspoken feelings.

When they finally pulled away, both were a little breathless, their eyes still locked.

“I should go,” Joe said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Yeah,” (Y/N) replied, her voice equally soft. “I’ll see you around.”

Joe gave her one last, heartfelt smile before turning to enter the private flight area. (Y/N) watched him go, her heart aching with a mix of warmth and sadness. She took a deep breath, turning to walk away with a sense of bittersweet contentment.

As Joe disappeared into the private lounge, he glanced back one last time, catching (Y/N)’s gaze. He gave her a small, appreciative nod before disappearing behind the door.

(Y/N) stood there for a moment longer, then turned and walked away, her heart full of a quiet hope and the lingering echo of their tender farewell.
