Okay listen men were behaving abnormally on trains and there was a popular idea that it was because the vibrations mimicked what was known as “hysteria” in women.
Even though hysteria isn’t real (and never was) the idea that these men who experienced a facsimile of what life was like for women were so unable to cope that they lost control of themselves and committed train crimes is really something else.
Does it remind me of how some men are reacting to the Barbie movie? To the idea of men as second-class citizens? As objects of desire? In much the same way that women have been imagined in fiction and irl for so so long? It does remind me of that, thank you for asking.
