May I please ask for a scenario with knuckle bine x reader where the extermination team gets to see their newborn daughter for the first time? (Reader gave birth while knuckle was away)

Certainly! TW: Mentions of labor pain and mild angst

Knuckle had wanted to stay with you as long as he possibly could right now. You were nine months pregnant and were supposed to be due in the next two weeks. Usually, his job as a hunter was flexible, and he could take time off whenever he needed. Not that he ever did. But the one time he needed to be home with you, was when you were practically at your delivery date.

He had gotten an urgent call, it was an all hands on deck scenario that could end in death for millions if even one participant couldn’t lend their help. He really didn’t want to go, but his morality forced him to go despite what he wanted. And so he left, with promises of returning within the week. Even so, he was pushing it with his time, but reluctantly you kissed him goodbye, promising to await his return.

The baby wouldn’t be due until the next two weeks after all.

But unfortunately, mercy was not on your side. around midnight, you awoke from your sleep in immense pain. It lasted about 2 minutes before ceasing. You began to panic. This couldn’t be happening, why now!? The one time Knuckle wasn’t with you? You wracked your brain, partly in denial of the obvious contractions. Maybe it was just food poisoning? Had you eaten some strange combination of food and it had come back for revenge?

You sat for 10 minutes, hyperventilating and in a rush of anxiety before another wave of pain began.

You toughed it out, groaning in pain as another contraction hit. You shook your head once it passed. Being in denial was no use, and a home birth with no one to help was not something you wanted. You were at least fortunate that you were a five-minute drive from the hospital, not to mention the early hour meant no one would be on the road, you could get there in about three minutes if you hurried. It would give you about seven minutes before the next contraction.

Moving quickly and carefully, you got up from the bed. Only now noticing the damp spot from your water breaking. You grabbed your duffel bag, seeing as delivery would be approaching so soon, you packed early. Packing would be the last thing you wanted to think about when in labor. You grabbed your phone and keys off the nightstand, slung the bag over your shoulders, slipped on your shoes, and were out the door.

You threw your bag into the passenger's seat and started the car, pulling out of the driveway and rushing off to the hospital. As distraught as you were about Knuckle’s absence and the poor timing, a small part of your heart fluttered with excitement. After nine long months of waiting, you would finally meet your daughter! You smiled to yourself but quickly brought your attention back to driving as you pulled into the hospital parking lot.

Waddling into the hospital as fast as you could with your very pregnant self, you checked in and were given a room. You weren’t yet fully dilated and your contractions were still far enough apart, you probably wouldn’t be giving birth for another hour. During that time, it now being 1:30 in the morning, you tried texting and calling Knuckle. You called over and over, but judging by the hour he was asleep or was in the middle of a battle. If he was sleeping, you would have no luck reaching him until he woke up around 6:00 AM. You set your phone down for a moment, burying your face in your hands, sobbing quietly.

Your family lived hours away, and your friends were out of town. You would be alone giving birth. The thought of that terrified you. The plan was to have knuckle, your best friend, and your family there. Knuckle and your friend in the room with you, while your family waited in the hall, and came in to congratulate you once your daughter was born. But instead, you found yourself alone, in an empty room with only a nurse who was only there to time your contractions and keep an eye on you.

You tried thinking of anyone to call, anyone at all, a neighbor, a friend you hadn’t spoken with in years, a cousin, hell, even your old high school English teacher would be better than no one.

You scrolled quickly through your contacts, trying to find someone.

Morel.

Of course! Morel! Knuckle’s teacher! Surely he had to be awake right? That man was an insomniac for god’s sake, he had to be awake!

You dialed the number, bring the phone up to your ear, waiting for him to pick up, and praying it didn’t go to voicemail.

“Yeah?”

“This is Y/N, is Knuckle with you? I’ve been trying to call him, it’s an emergency! Do you know where he is?”

“I’d say he’s still in the NGL right about now. Probably still at the palace. What’s the emergency, are you hurt?”

“No, I just went into labor, I wasn’t supposed to be due for one more week. I’m at the hospital though, so I’m safe.”

“Really? What hospital are you in right now?”

“(Hospital/Name), it’s the one closest to my home-” You cringed, your head hanging down as another contraction hit, this one more painful than the last one. A few tears rolled down your already wet face from all the crying.

“I may be able to send someone over right now. What room are you in?” You choked back a sob of pain as you paused a moment to answer, looking at the number next to the door.

“I’m in room 304, *sniff* but I don’t know how you’d get anyone over here right now, aren’t you all at the NGL right now?” He seemed to laugh quietly at your response.

“Just trust me, I’ll send someone over, you stay put and take care of yourself right now.” Then he hung up. You would’ve been angry at him for hanging up immediately, but he was probably very busy and the pain from your contraction cut you off.

All you could do was hold your stomach and cry. You knew no one would get there in time. They were hours away, probably in a slightly different time zone as well. You sobbed as the nurse tried her best to comfort you, handing you some tissues before needing to check how dilated you were.

You sat there in pain for five minutes, rubbing your pregnant belly and thinking to yourself. Wondering if Knuckle would come out of this mission okay. You were lost in your pain and your train of thoughts before hearing a knock at the door.

“Morel?! Shoot?!” This couldn’t be real! They were here? How? Either way, you didn’t care, you were just so happy not to be alone. The nurse gave you a concerned and questioning look, but nodded when you said “They’re friends.”

Morel was pushing shoot in a wheelchair, Morel had been injured as well, but could walk and push Shoot around with no problem.

“We heard you were having a baby!” Shoot pipped up from his chair.

“Heh, yup. That would be me.” You chuckled. “I’m so glad you guys are here! Well, not that you’re injured, but glad not to be alone! What happened anyway?” Morel laughed.

“Well, you don’t get out of every battle scotfree, our opponents were stronger than we anticipated. Shoot was unlucky here, but I did see him coming up with some original stuff! Maybe when your leg heals you can use it again!” Shoot smiled before turning to you.

“Knuckle is still in the NGL at the moment. We checked his location, meaning he’s still in battle, or the battle has ended. But judging by how he was doing last I saw him, he’ll be up on his feet in no time should he sustain any injuries. So you needn’t worry too much about his well being.”

At his words of comfort, you breathed a sigh of relief. It was as though a weight had been lifted from your shoulders. You would’ve basked in the peace of mind longer if another contraction hadn’t just started. The two hunters looked concerned, but the nurse reassured them that it was only contractions. You were in labor, after all, it wasn’t meant to be easy or comfortable. She called in the doctor to administer an epidural. You were dilating quickly and birthing would probably begin soon. It was best to get an epidural before the baby was halfway out of your vagina.

Shoot held your hand what little he could given his injuries. The epidural was painful, but you managed to stay perfectly still. Slowly becoming numb from your belly to your toes. The realization that Knuckle would miss your baby girl’s arrival was fast overtaking your mind. Frantically you looked to Morel and Shoot.

“Is there any way you can call Knuckle? Maybe his phone was just off when I called earlier? Maybe he’ll respond to you two faster?” The two looked at each other with worried looks. They agreed and tried calling him for you, but it seemed he was in a position where he needed to be on the move. They told you this, but comforted you, showing that he was heading to the NGL’s border and likely heading back. That meant he would soon see your texts and be on his way.

While relieved to know he was alright, you were disheartened knowing he wouldn’t be back in time. Before you could wallow in your sorrows though, your nurse let you know that you could start pushing if you wanted. You nodded eagerly. At least in all of this chaos, you would get to meet your baby girl.

Hours later, now about five in the morning, you were close to the end of your delivery. The labor had been long and exhausting, you were grateful for the epidural, you would be in a far worse mood without it. Morel and shoot updated you on Knuckle’s location every half hour. Seeing as you were giving birth, you couldn’t exactly use your phone at the moment. You had no idea if he had texted you back, but occasionally Shoot or Morel would get a text from him, usually along the lines of “ Tell Y/N I’m on my way!” or “Tell Y/N I love her and to stay strong!”

You would cry tears of joy whenever they read you his texts. You wanted to video chat, but it was hard enough to get texts due to poor network quality, so calling would be impossible.

Minutes after his last message for you, another “I love you!” The nurse chirped up.

“Just one more big push!” You caught your breath, groaning as you gave every ounce of strength you had into it. Just as your head hit your pillow from fatigue, you heard crying. Your head shot off your pillow, the nurse holding up your baby girl as the doctor cut the cord. They gave her a very quick clean up before you reached out to her. They handed her to you carefully, still keeping a hold of her until you had lied down, not wanting you to drop her.

You cried the most tears of joy you had in your life as you held the tiny infant. You cradled her in your arms, smiling the brightest smile ever. Only when you looked up did you see Morel and Shoot crying, both trying to be manly and hold back the tears, but the moment was too beautiful not to cry.

“Thank you for being here with me, I was so scared to do this alone! I just can’t believe I have a daughter now!” You started crying again. Shoot nodded, a smile on his face, Morel gave you a grin as he sniffled.

“We’re happy to be here! And we’ll stay here as long as you need until Knuckle comes back!” You smiled, face completely wet at this point, your infant daughter still crying in your arms. But the immense fatigue of giving birth started to kick in. Your eyes began to shut and your head tilted as you could no longer support it once sleep overcame you.

The nurse carefully removed your baby from your arms, softly telling you how she was just going to set her in a crib so you both could rest. You fell asleep, a smile on your face, knowing your baby was fine and healthy, and that knuckle was alive and heading home.

You woke up sometime later, the warm glow of the sun shining through the windows. Your eyes opened slowly, blinking several times as you were still tired, you turned your head, your heart fluttered at who was beside you.

Knuckle was seated beside you, trying not to cry yet failing miserably. You smiled seeing him there. Noticing you were awake, he wrapped his arms around you in a tight but gentle embrace. Being careful not to break you.

“You’re okay!” You squeezed him, afraid to let go.

“Of course I am! I promised you that and I stay true to my word!” He cupped your face, kissing you with all the love in his heart, your hand on the side of his head, gently threading through his hair. As you parted he gave you a sad look, more fresh tears streaming down his face. “I’m sorry I wasn’t here when you needed me most, I tried getting back home as soon as I could, but the next airship wasn’t for days, and by the time I was supposed to be at the airport I was in battle. And I only saw your texts an hour or two after the fact.”

He looked down like a shameful puppy, tail between his legs. You smiled softly, lacing your fingers with his. “All that matters to me is that you’re here now.” You gave him a sweet kiss on the lips.

A moment later, a new nurse came in holding your baby.

“Sorry, we had to run some general health tests, she’s in perfect health, and congratulations!” She handed the infant to Knuckle, you being too weak to properly pick her up yet. His eyes widened in awe of your precious baby girl. She gripped his finger with her tiny hands, a wobbly smile growing on his face, he looked like he was about to start bawling from happiness.

He held the small child close, giving you another more gentle hug. You smiled, hugging him back. At this moment, everything was perfect.

What would have made Cheetu's ability work?

Alright let's be real. His ability was a flop, that isn't entirely his fault though. No amount of quick learning can make up for actual combat experience. He was used to killing average humans who couldn't or wouldn't fight back and only got experience with nen users 3 times.

When he fought with Knuckle and Morel, when he "fought" one on one with Morel, and we all know what happened with him and the Zoldycks.

So really he has essentially no experience really fighting a nen user unless you count him getting his ass handed to him by Knuckle and Morel.

The reason he's arrogant is because he's only ever had easy prey. When something is as easy as snapping your fingers, it isn't uncommon to get a bit cocky.

But you can't stay on level one fights once you're at level 20. You have to have fights on that level or a little above. Unfortunately he ran right past that and rather than fighting a level 25, he tried to fight a level 40 and level 65 at the same time.

If he'd taken his time and genuinely worked on his fighting skills and worked on unlocking his nen himself, he'd have had a better time. And it would've felt more rewarding.

If he had been working on his nen from the time word of what it was got out, and seeing as he learns fast and has energy to spare, he would have learned the basics with ease. If he'd really worked at it, he could have used en and would've been able to detect Silva before disaster.

Also if he'd created his own ability it might have been something he'd taken better care of learning it and tying up lose ends rather than a halfassed crossbow.

What Would Have Made Cheetu's Ability Work?

Because his ability was handed to him, he had a harder time than if he'd taken the time to make one himself. Essentially they gave a noob the coolest sword in the game and expected him to know how to wield it, all without armor.

And though he doesn't mention it, we know he's at least tried out it before. Leol mentions when he and Morel disappear that he activates his ability, that he doesn't know what it does, but that they won't be back for 8 hours.

This implies he's seen Cheetu disappear for 8 hours. Cheetu also says to Morel that he'll be stuck there if he doesn't catch him. We don't see anyone who might have had his ability tested on him though. But we know they didn't catch him because he still had his ability.

That means he probably ate their brain and got rid of their body somewhere else. We've seen in a previous episode that he only eats the brain. Neferpitou mentions it to be the tastiest part of the body, and Cheetahs are known to go for the best part of the meat.

Morel said during the fight that it was Cheetu's fault for making time limit so long even though he doesn't have the attention span for it.

I also think the time limit was a bit long, it should have been about 15 minutes at max. That and there should've been a consequence for not chasing him. For instance if you don't chase him for a whole minute, the game pauses and he is allowed to injure one of your limbs as much he'd like, including ripping it off, without the consequence of being tagged.

Once done, the game continues.

His end goal isn't to neutralize or protect himself from harm, it's to eat his prey and play with it for a little before he kills it. Just like a Cheetah.

Another thing is that the Savannah should be able to shut off the preys nen, but continue allowing Cheetu to use his nen. This way all he has to worry about is their physical strength. And it makes it more fun for him.

All of this would make his ability pretty advanced, so there should be some heavier conditions for activating it, but he shouldn't have the condition that he can't use it if he's caught.

He should have to know more info about the victim, and they have to be a nen user of a certain level. Making it so that someone he couldn't defeat with sheer strength, could be defeated in his Savannah. Someone too weak in nen, he should just kill rather than waste such an ability on, giving him more fighting experience.

And if he loses, he has to wait a certain amount of time to unlock it again. And he has to stay in the Savannah for an hour while the person is set free. This keeps him safe, but is a serious time waster when in a situation where time is of the essence. It also tests his patience. Sort of like a time out.

Put together, picture you're suddenly transported to the Savannah after fighting with him for a while. You have 15 minutes to catch him, and if you stop running, you could get your arm ripped off, and if you lose you'll be killed and eaten. Should you win by some miracle,(he's probably the fastest humanish guy in the world, over 200 miles an hour is pretty fukin fast boi) it'll likely be with some serious injuries, the least being a limb bleeding out, causing blood loss.

And depending how far from a hospital you are, you could bleed to death or pass out before help comes. If far enough away he could eat you after his hour is up since you're bleeding to death or unconscious.

Not like you could hide, the blood trail would rat you out and if that didn't he would have trained with nen for a while and be able to use en to locate you.

He should still use his crossbow though. It's good for general combat, but the bolts should be faster, and he should use in to conceal them, that way he can use them from a distance and be undetected.

The bolts should also reload as soon as one has been shot. Then he can use faster attacks rather than using one bolt and having to get up close with the claws.

With the improved abilities and actual practice with combat and nen, he'd be quite the force to be reckoned with.
