Oh don't forget to add the 'Lazarus Mind Control' thing that feels a bit too much like the struggle that Jean-Paul experiences when he puts on the Azrael suit.
I could talk about this all day. But first of all I am not saying that two characters cannot be similar. It would be impractical to say otherwise because people IRL can be similar. I'm saying that Jason's fanon feels like a magazine collage of other Batfam members.
[Longer discussion below] + How To Read Jason Todd for anyone who doesn't know but stumbles across this reblog and needs some guidance
Characters That Have Traits and Qualities That Fandom Has Added To Jason Todd
Helena being the original Black Sheep of the family and how she and Tim have such an interesting and very important Sibling bond. Her being the one who is an English teacher by day and vigilante by night. How a lot of her appearances in the late 90s early 2000s was of her saving children. [See the last days before No Man's Land where she saved a bus full of children, see her getting captured by a child gang and trying to help them, see her having a breakdown after watching a child die from the Clench, see how she was to find Tim!Robin's ruined uniform near where croc was and believed Tim was killed.]
See Selina in the way that she cares about smaller groups of people who don't have the resources or proper institutions to get help. How she will sometimes help Batman when needed but mostly helps herself as well. How she flips between closer to vigilante and closer to Antihero. How she leaves Gotham sometimes for a break but always comes back.
See Dick in how he was always butting heads with Bruce through the 90s and early 2000s. How he was an asshole with foot in the mouth syndrome. How he and Tim were asshole brothers who cared about one another. Dick who set up traps in his how to try and catch Tim. Dick who when Tim was going through a lot of lows called and tried to check on him.
See Jean-Paul in how Jean experienced brainwashing that was meant to turn him into an assassin and asset to The Order of Saint Duma. How he struggles with that programming all the time and how he is trying to be a better person for most of the 90s and early 2000s but experiences a lot of relapses into the brainwashing.
Then when Jason fans get mad when another character dies and is brought back? It feels so stupid because Jason wasn't the first character to die and be brought back. He wasn't the last either. [Oliver Queen, Hal Jorden, Donna Troy, Liam Harper, Stephanie Brown, Damian Wayne, Clark Kent, Barry Allen, Wally West]. Dying and being brought back is not a new concept and wasn't even a new concept when Jason was brought back.
Jason Todd Recommendations
Honestly the best thing I can recommend is for people to read Jason's post resurrection comics. Go read hid comics from before the New 52 before you start saying things. It's not that hard to find a reading list for him. [Here] is a reading list if you want to yet started.
If that link isn't working, this is the internet address
https://dailyjasontodd.carrd.co/#comics
You don't need a fancy account with any place. Just search up the comic you want to read
[Here]'s the link to a free online reading site you can use to read the first issue on the above linked readin list.
Here's another version on the link.
Though in reality if you want to know about Jason Todd you need to start with his days as Robin, so I would suggest reading his Robin stuff.
League of Comic Geeks
Here's a place that you can keep track of and log comics you have read or series you want to read.
You can make an account and go search up a character you want to read. Here I'll show how it can work with Jason Todd
Step 1: Make an Account (I'm using the mobile app to show how to work so it may look different on your brower)

Step 2: This is the mobile home page. Click the bottom most right symbol of a magnifying glass or the 'search' symbol.

Step 3: the base search page will look something like this. It will look different based on time of year and what comics are being read. Click the long search bar on the top and type our Jason Todd

Step 4: It will look empty because Jason Todd isn't a series. Click on the Characters Subheader.

Step 5: You will now see Jason Todd the full character, along with identity he uses and other different universe versions. The canon timeline is Earth-0. Click that Jason Todd.

Step 6: His character page will show up. You are under the Overview portion. If you want to see the comics Jason is in click Titles subheader or the Timeline subheader

Step 7: option 1: The Titles will show you the series Titles he has been in by defending order of appearances.

Step 7: option 2: Timeline will show you the publishing chronological order [not in universe cronology] of Jason Todd's appearances in comic books. This includes where he was a main, support, or cameo character. You can scroll down or click the number on the right side with a downward facing arrow [31 on 2024] to close that years section of appearances.

This is the bottom of the list. Batman (1940-2011) #357 is pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths so it will be slightly different. Still a good read theough..
Alternatively if you only want to read for a specific version of appearances go back to the overview page.

And click the icon with for example Red Hood. This will only show you comics where Jason Todd appeared as a Main, Supporting or Cameo character under the moniker of 'The Red Hood'. Once in the new overview page click the timeline again and scroll.

This is what the bottom of that page looks like. You can start there if you really want to.
Anyway, you cannot change the source material without first understanding the source material. Yes I am aware I haven't read all of Jason's comics. It is an ongoing task but I have done a lot of search and listened to audio readings of a lot of his comics.
I'm not trying to start a fight but I do find it genuinely funny that fanon Jason is the amalgamation of canon Helena, Selina, Dick, a little of Damian's league of assassins upbringing sprinkled over the top and v little canon Jason, but at the same time fanon Jason enjoyers will turn around and get mad when someone writes a story where Tim dies and comes back to life. and like even if it WAS stealing from Jason's character and not a prominent trope in zee genre it's hard to get mad about theft while you are also wearing a bandana and holding a sack with a comically large dollar sign printed on it sir 😂
