Madame Ping - Tumblr Posts
ok so, i play genshin with the english dub and portuguese menus, and i like to pay attention to how things are said vs how they are translated
and dude, they translated "kindred spirit" to SOULMATE

âDespite being heartbreaking to lose a soulmate, life goes on... because there are new friends waiting for you at a place further down the roadâ
no way?? gay adepti real??? (/hj i dont seriously shipp them i just found the word choice pretty gay here)
not a week goes by that I don't think of Madame Ping saying 'When the one attuned to my soul is no longer here, who else could hope to understand this tune?' and feel my heart shattering all over again
Thoughts on Madame Ping
Spoilers for Genshin Impact, mostly about Chapter 1
Iâm watching my sister play through the Liyue part of the storyline and she just met Madame Ping and went through her teapot and whatever. I feel like Madame Ping serves such a big role in the mood and feelings that the player has. Like we are thrust into going to Liyue from Venti on a search for Rex Lapis, and when we get there one of the first things we see is him âdyingâ and a big political figure (Ningguang) basically thrust us into being a wanted criminal. Then a person saves us and we find out that he is literally like coworkers with the person that jumped the last god we met. All of this puts some much pressure on the traveler and the player. We hang around Childe and we meet Zhongli, someone who knows a little bit too much about everything and refuses to answer many of our questions with direct answers. All of these things plus the fact that we donât truly know who killed Rex Lapis and whether the Fatui and Qixing are taking advantage of the situation makes a very tense and the frustrating amount of fetch quests leaves the player angry.
Then we meet Madame Ping. She first tells us about how she understands why everyone is sad (leading the glaze lilies to wither), but how she thinks that with the Rite of Parting the people of Liyue will be able to continue their lives. Then she lets us into her teapot like right away. Her teapot is beautiful, being like the other adeptusâ domains but more home like, from the colors, design, etc. After we get out of there, we ask her if sheâs an adeptus and immediately she tells us yes without beating around the bush. She then tells us to tell Zhongli to come around for a cup of tea whenever he can.
Even though this interaction was less than ten minutes, it left such a strong impact on the storyline and the playerâs feelings. Like Iâm AR 55 now, have played through the entire storyline, completed every side quest from Liyue and Mondstadt, have like 70% completion rate on all of the Inazuma islands, but still remember how much I enjoyed talking to Madame Ping and seeing her role in the storyline, as minor of a character as she was.
