The Last Reign of the Sol King
With the north islands ruled by a corrupt dynasty, a millennia long bloodline marred by illness and insanity, the council government is based among the elite academics at the renowned Institute of Magic in the country’s capital, a city known for its rich history and mysterious disappearances of students. Despite this reputation and the urban legends surrounding the prestigious school, many scholars dream of attending. And three of those students are the main focus of this story.
Meet Rowan, David and Emilee. (And yes I did choose to spell every name wrong. It was a choice, not cause im illiterate) Rowan was raised at the institute, by the institute. She’s a spell-caster. David is from a small island in the southwest. He is a scribe. And finally, Emilee is a practical apothecary mage from the far side of the mainland, past the mountains.
What the fuck did I just say, thou might be wondering? Well I’m so glad you didn’t ask, because I will now infodump.
This is the country known as the north islands. The blue square is the capital, where the institute is located. Rowan grew up there, and the story takes place there. Now you see that island that the capital is on? Go to the squiggly line (mountain range) and past that. The left X is where Emilee is from. Finally you see those little islands at the bottom left. David is from the bigger of the two. Yay, geography.
Okay as for the mage classifications! There are three mage classes, Scribe, Spell-caster and Practical.
A scribe uses a magical type of ink to paint runes, that allow them to bend the universe to their will. It is the hardest type of magic by far, and the most highly regulated.
A spell-caster or a born mage, is basically the stereotypical magic user. Using a conduit like a wand or sceptre, they can manipulate the world around them. More powerful spell-casters can use their power without a conduit.
A practical mage is a loose term for types of magic learned by most common people. These include things like apothecary (potions) alchemy (slightly different form of potions) healing, communication with spirits, divination, and animal familiars. They can be learned by pretty much anyone but are incredibly powerful in their own right.
I will be diving deeper into the details of each type, and a FUCKTON more lore and world building because this is going to need a lot more world building than my other stuff.

it’s character intro time because I’m bored!
Rowan: As previously mentioned, Rowan was raised by the Institute since infancy, her birth parents are unknown. Growing up she had always wanted to be like her mentor/older sibling figure who was a scribe, however she was a spell caster. (Spell casters can’t do scroll magic for saftey, spellcasters being born with magic) She is a reserved, quiet character. Despite being surrounded by academics her entire life, she is a terrible student.
Design totally not based on a real person who I dislike so i can see them suffer as a cartoon or anything.
David: David grew up on one of the smaller islands, a less policed island due to its low population and high resources (fishies!) and also it being highly isolated from the other islands. He WILL be a goofy little guy and I will not elaborate further on that because. He is studious, and completely ridiculous. I must emphasize that his personality has NOT changed. He is still like this. He is a scribe.
Design about the same as before but bluer
Emilee: Emilee is basically opposite of David, having grown up in a heavily policed area, the south side of the mainland. She is probably the most serious of the three, but the least likely to follow a rule. She learned her magical skills from them being passed down generation to generation. She is a master at apothecary magic.
Her design has me SO HYPED TO DRAW!!
I won’t be posting any of the art for a couple months, minus sketches because I’m learning the art stuff, and waiting to learn digital.

Envy’s Angel: Envy and Haziel. (More characters to come) RULES: This one’s a bit different because the series is something I’m currently working on. Ask whatever you like for now, assuming they know eachother and have for about a month. Once the series starts, the responses will be to the latest chapter.
