Do you guys ever think about the fact that Adamandi takes place in the 1930’s and that thus every living character would have to see World War 2? They cannot catch a break they literally went through all the events of Adamandi during the Great Depression only for an international war to strike just a few years after the graduate. 😭

Ghost Story Musical Updates!

Howdy, everyone! We're on our way out to Montana Right Now for our residency to work on Ghost Story, our newest musical!

The Melliot household camping our way through South Dakota!

Thank you everyone who helped to fully fund the Kickstarter for our reading! It's been an amazing show of support.

After casting calls closed last week, we discovered that we'll probably have to look further afield than we thought to get queer, trans actors to match our queer, trans characters (including some familiar faces, if you've been following our past work!)

To that end, it would be a great help if our project continued to get overfunded! We'll be using the extra funds primarily for travel costs for our actors. You can still get the limited edition rewards (like a signed program, your name in the credits of our filmed version of the reading, or the special Ghost Story sticker designed for this reading) until they run out, or July 1st, whichever comes first!

Some of these are so specific checking this off for TAOPP and Adamandi felt like that John Mulaney bit that starts with “if I had a nickel for every time that” etc. etc.

I made a bingo card for Melliot Musical Tropes because I think I’m funnier than I actually am, watch one of their shows, see how fast you can get a bingo.

Little note about using the actor’s actual names under the cut.

(NOTE: When I use actor’s actual name in a post it is meant as a joke about the type of character they tend to get casted in or an acknowledgment of their achievements. It is akin to me making a joke about Christian Borle being in everything under the goddamn sun or saying that Emily Rohm must have the cardio routine of a god to hit the notes she does in The Ballad Of Jane Doe. I know this is an odd tangent, but I do feel it important to acknowledge someone’s humanity when discussing them separated from the character they play. Miel Escamilla and Lana Gaige are real people with their own lives, feelings, and aspirations. When referring to them outside their character be sure to take great care not to lose the fact that these are people and not characters.)

What do you think the Ghost Story gang’s beverage of choice would be?

I think some of them have canon ones actually (they eat and drink a LOT in this show. Guess that's what happens when you set a show in someone's house.)

JÓZEF: Canonically, he drinks unsweetened tea with a slice of lemon in it (which I've always understood as a Polish thing! My uncles do it and I always thought it was weird as a kid.)

JOEY: In my head he's drinking Monster Ultra like the whole time.

HAO: Does noodle soup count? There's also a fun drink from Guilin called oil tea that's like... tea leaves fried with spices brewed in hot water. I think he'd like it for waking up in the morning. Other than that, really sweet drinks he'd have discovered in America, like sarsaparilla and root beer.

ANTHONY: Canonically probably hot chocolate, but he's soo the kind of person with a needlessly elaborate coffee order (Can I get a caramel macchiato with an extra pump of vanilla spice half soy milk half whole milk with less ice and cinnamon on top? Thank u :)) but he'd also tip really well.

But seriously, I think Louis would probably enjoy Yannick if somebody introduced him to his work. I don’t see Louis gravitating towards Yannick’s work on his own, but then again I don’t know much about Yannick in the first place lol. Louis definitely seems like the kind to enjoy performing arts and such in a sort of “oo, this is nice, I appreciate the artistry” and then maybe engage with it again if he feels so inclined way. Does that make sense?
