A year ago my husband told me that I definitely need to start playing this hyped game that had been finally released. A year ago I bought the second copy of the game, turned it on and closed my eyes when the mindflayer tadpole screamed and rushed from the screen into me. A year ago my husband told me not to miss a funny wizard in the rock.

I didn't expect this game to change my life. I didn't expect it to show me so much of myself. I didn't expect it to be a gateway to a vast community of wonderful people. I didn't expect it to give me friends from different parts of the world.

Baldur's Gate 3 did all that and more. It etched itself inside my heart and became more than just a media to me. I saw myself in it, and I analysed myself through it. Baldur's Gate 3 was the first game I started playing on a difficulty higher than "Normal" (or "Balanced"). The first game I played more than once. More than twice. More than thrice.

I haven't been a part of the fandom for several months, but then I discovered a community of creative and supportive people, BG3 fandom in general and Galemancer fandom in particular. It is a huge chaotic fandom where I was able to find my place. With other fandoms I was just a ghost lurking in the shadows, here I am proud to be a part of it.

Thank you, Larian Studios, for the best game (of the year, decade, century). It saved my soul, it gave me peace, it showed that I am not alone. You gave me a place to be myself, even if I am an insufferable talkative romantic nerd.

Happy Anniversary, Baldur's Gate 3! 🎉
