not joon related but yoon really does deserve all the credit in the world. nobody can inspire such awe and demand attention from his lyrics alone like yoongi can. while some of the other boys like jimin and jk just have a stage presence that means you can’t take your eyes off of them (looking at you, filter 🥵). yoongi keeps you captivated with his words and his emotions that he displays so openly. this man really writes to make the listener fall in love because no matter what he’s singing or rapping about, his emotions are always there. imo shadow is up there as one of, if not, the best track on mots:7.
putting the staging of the shadow performance aside (which deserves a whole analysis in itself) the transition of the raw lyricism to a beautifully produced track to the delivery of all of that combined live on stage, shadow and yoongi are unmatched,,,like his ability to convey and deliver such raw emotions through his voice and presence alone is just. chilling. it’s a disservice imo to ignore context and meaning in yoongi’s music but his ability to just command your attention /without/ any of that??? incredible. there are just endless layers to what an amazing artist he is i think i find something new to awe over every day
