Through the years — Lewis Hamilton x Reader x Nico rosberg
You knew Lewis through Nico; the three of you had grown up together and were close. The three of you did everything together and lived together when the boys finally made it to F1. When Lewis finally joined Mercedes the three of you celebrated together.
It was great seeing them all the time. What the three of you didn’t count on was the ending of your friendship. Living with Nico and Lewis you were bound to develop feelings for them… well more like Lewis. you had been in love with Nico since you were teenagers. With Lewis, you started developing feelings the more you got to know him. He was kind, thoughtful, and put others first and you loved that. Over time you realized that you had fallen for Lewis. You loved his kindness, his thoughtfulness, his selflessness, and his generosity. Your feelings for him grew as you got to know him better and you couldn’t help but start to fall for him. But when it came to Nico your feelings never changed. You had loved him since you were teenagers and that never changed.
What’s a girl to do?
You could not make up your mind who you wanted. Your feelings for Lewis continued to grow but there was still something about Nico that you couldn't get over
Every time you were around each of them the attraction was palpable and you felt torn.
It went on like that for years and when 2016 came around your friendship with Nico and Lewis was on thin ice the only thing holding it together was you.
“Don’t do this Nico please” you begged following him.
“Just drop it y/n,” he says annoyed.
“I’m not gonna drop this' ' you say desperately you didn’t want him to go you couldn’t lose him.
You didn't want this friendship to end. Nico had been your best friend since childhood and you didn't want to lose him.
You couldn't just let him leave without you trying to do something about it.
"Please, Nico."
You plead desperately, clinging onto his arm.
"Don't go please."
He was the only one who could understand how you felt. The three of you were so close and you knew that Nico felt the same.
"Let go, y/n, I made my choice."
Nico brushes you off, not looking at you.
"You need to accept that."
The two of you stare at each other for a moment, locked in a battle of wills.
"It's over."
His stare is unwavering as he turns to walk away from you.
“You don’t have a choice y/n.”
Nico doesn’t flinch, looking over to avoid meeting your eyes.
“I’m leaving, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
He tries to move away from you but you hold tight, not letting him go.
“Just listen to me. This can’t be it, we can’t just throw away everything we’ve been through together.”
You’re holding on tighter than you should, refusing to let him go anywhere.
“I have made my choice. You need to respect it and let me go.”
Nico’s voice is colder than usual, his composure masking the pain.
He tries to break free from your hold but you grip tighter.
“How can I just let you go and not have you in my life? You’re my best friend and you have been for years.” You plead, desperation clear in your voice.
“I just can’t-I can’t do this alone. You’re the only one who’s seen my ups and downs and been by my side this whole time.”
“I told you there is nothing you can do to change my mind.”
Nico tries again to pull away from you but you don’t let go.
“Let me go y/n”
Your desperation has caught him off guard, the pain you’re feeling is evident.
“Ok,” you said quietly letting go of him.
For a moment neither of you say anything. All you can hear is the silence that fills the room.
“I’m going now.”
Nico starts to walk away.
"Wait"
You call after him, not believing what is happening.
Nico stops and turns to look at you.
“Yes?”
The hurt in his voice catches you off guard, you didn’t expect him to be so emotional and the sound of his voice almost breaks you.
“I have to go Y/n I can’t stay here with him around I have to go. Please understand that” Nico says
“Please just stay for me,” you say
“I can’t,” Nico says heartbreakingly he doesn’t want to leave but he has to.
“Please Nico…”
You're almost begging at this point.
“Please don’t go. Please…”
You’re afraid that you’re going to lose the person you love and you can’t bear the thought.
“You can’t just leave like this
“Goodbye Y/n”
And just like that Nico leaves not looking back leaving you to break down in tears.
The tears pour as you cry, the reality of the situation finally hitting you. You’re losing him and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Your heart aches as you try to catch your breath through the sobs.
This cannot be the end.
Lewis came home from his workout with his trainer not knowing that Nico had walked out.
Something was different about the apartment he just didn’t know what it was.
“Y/n” he called out
“Nico” no one responded
Looking around the apartment he noticed the lack of belongings that belonged to the Blonde German that he lived with.
‘What happened’ Lewis thought
Lewis didn’t hear anything but the sounds of crying coming from the bedroom of the woman whom he also lived with.
“Y/n?” Lewis called out walking to your bedroom where he found you crying in the corner.
Lewis’s voice caught you off guard. You hadn’t even heard him come in.
The pain was all-consuming as the reality of what was happening became all too real.
You heard Lewis walking to the room and for this moment you didn’t want him to see you. You just wanted to be alone and let the pain wash over you.
“Y/n?”
Lewis was by your side now. You couldn’t look at him but you felt his presence and the comfort that came with it.
Lewis tried talking to you but you weren’t in the mood to speak, you just wanted to be left alone to deal with your emotions.
“Hey”
Lewis’s voice was gentle and soothing as he tried to get through to you.
Still, you didn’t speak, your pain too great to ignore.
Lewis tried again to get you to open up but you kept silent.
“Talk to me.”
Lewis was becoming increasingly concerned. He couldn’t just leave you like this and not know what was wrong. Not knowing was killing him but he couldn’t do anything until you talked to him.
“Please”
This was the first time you had heard the panic in Lewis’ voice. The fact that he needed you to talk was scary enough.
He reached out and grabbed your hands, forcing you to look at him even when you tried not to meet his eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
For once it was Lewis who was confused, he had come into the room and found you crying.
And he had no idea why.
“Just tell me what’s wrong.”
“N-nothing.”
You lied, there was something wrong but you didn’t have the energy to explain it.
Your head was throbbing from crying so much and all you wanted to do was crawl under the covers and let the pain wash over you.
“Don’t lie to me.”
Lewis saw right through your attempt to brush him off, he wouldn’t let it go.
He knew something was wrong and despite the fact you were refusing to talk to him, he was determined to get to the bottom of it.
“Just tell me.”
Lewis’s tone was gentle but firm. He wanted an answer and he wouldn’t let you off until you gave him one.
“I…”
You couldn’t get the words out.
You wanted to tell him but you didn’t know how.
Lewis could feel you shaking but still he didn’t let go of your hands.
“He..left Nico he left,” you say
“What?”
Lewis was taken aback by your reply.
He had been expecting you to tell him you were sad for no particular reason, not that the person you cared about most had just walked out.
“What?”
Lewis was taken aback by your reply.
He had been expecting you to tell him you were sad for no particular reason, not that the person you cared about most had just walked out.
“He just left?”
Lewis didn’t know what else to say he couldn’t believe that Nico had left you and didn’t even say goodbye.
“Without even talking to you about it?”
“Without so much as a goodbye or an explanation, he just left. I didn't get a reason or anything. It was like he couldn’t get away from here fast enough.”
You were in no mood to sugarcoat things, just thinking of him leaving crushed you.
“He said he couldn’t stay and be around you at the same time so he went home back to Germany”
“So… that was it?”
Lewis was speechless, this was the guy that had spent years with you, lived with you since you were teens.
He went through all the ups and downs of life with you but the moment things got a little difficult he just... left?
Lewis couldn't process this, he knew Nico was stubborn but... surely it couldn't be that bad?
“He just gave up that easily?”
Lewis couldn’t fathom why Nico would just leave like that.
He would’ve thought that Nico would at least have tried to make it work, but he just left.
“You must be missing him a lot”
Lewis tried to be sympathetic but still didn’t fully understand.
“How could I not?”
You let out an audible sob. You couldn’t believe you were being so emotional about this.
“He was my best friend since we were kids and now he’s gone and I… and I have no idea what to do.”
Your emotions were getting the better of you and it was hard to stay composed.
“Hey... it’s ok.”
Lewis knew that you were upset but he had no idea just how much.
He tried to soothe you and calm you down but it felt like he was just making things worse.
“I understand.”
He put his arms around you, holding you close and trying to reassure you.
Lewis himself believe it or not was having a hard time accepting that Nico would abandon the both of them.
Two people who he loved.
“He just… left?”
Lewis was finding it hard to believe as well.
“After everything we’ve been through together, he just… gave up?”
Lewis couldn’t believe it, he never thought Nico would do something like that.
“You mean that much to him, y/n.”
Lewis was trying to soothe you but he also wanted to assure you that Nico cared for you just as much as he did.
“I don’t think he did.”
The words were out before you could stop them.
“If he cared for us so much, how could he just leave without even a proper goodbye?”
Lewis was quiet as you said those words, unable to argue with you.
“Maybe it’s just temporary?”
He tried to come up with a better explanation, wanting to believe that there was more out there than what you had just revealed.
“You didn’t see his face, Lewis , he meant it. He’s not coming back” you said
“No… it can’t be.”
Lewis refused to believe it.
Nico couldn’t be gone for good, he wouldn’t just leave and not come back.
“He’ll be back”
Lewis tried to assure you, but he was mostly just trying to convince himself at this point.
Something in his gut told him you were right though…
Three years had passed since Nico had left.
You and Lewis continued living together but the absence of Nico had left a gaping hole in both your lives.
You didn’t want to believe that Nico was really gone for good, but deep down you had known this all along.
Lewis however, was still in denial.
Lewis had been keeping busy, trying to distract himself from the fact that the one person he thought would never leave him, just had.
They had come through so much together and he just couldn’t accept that Nico would give up so easily.
Lewis stayed at Mercedes and you Became a sky news reporter. You were a rising star in the world of news, known for your hard-hitting interviews and your ability to get to the heart of the story.
Lewis stayed in his comfortable job at Mercedes, still struggling to cope with Nico's departure.
You were still living in the same apartment you had shared with Nico and Lewis.
It was a reminder of the life you three had built together, even though Nico was no longer part of it.
You and Lewis were still friends but it was a very different dynamic to what it was before.
Lewis had tried to keep things the same, but it was difficult when Nico wasn't there.
There was always this simmering awkwardness between the two of you because neither one of you could understand why Nico left.
A couple more years have passed and it was now 2024. Your friendship with Lewis has changed. It had a sexual tension that neither of you could explain.
It had been a very gradual change in your friendship with Lewis.
At first he had tried to keep things purely platonic but over time, the sexual tension had built to the point where it was overwhelming.
You both kept your feelings to yourselves though, neither of you wanting to acknowledge the other's affections.
It was a tense, exciting, and confusing situation to be in.
Part of you wanted to acknowledge your feelings for Lewis but another part of you was too afraid of the consequences.
You ignore the feelings for your best friend. You were afraid that if you told him he would leave you just like Nico had.
Lewis was in the same boat.
He felt like his feelings for you were becoming too strong and that maybe it was time he said something about it.
But he was afraid, just like you were, that the minute he brought it up, it would all go wrong and he would lose you.
It was media day in the paddock and to your misfortune you were going to see Nico.
You didn’t know that he was coming back to be a media presenter not until Jenson Button came to you with the news.
“Nico is back!”
You were shocked to hear those words, your heart raced at the mere mention of his name.
You had tried to come to terms with him being gone but now he was back and you didn't know how to feel about it.
“What?!” You turn to jenson
“He just got hired as a presenter for Sky”
Jenson confirms before leaving you to process the news.
You couldn’t believe it.
Nico was back and he was working in the same place as you and Lewis.
The realization made your stomach drop.
“This is going to be awkward.”
You mumbled to yourself as you tried to process the news.
“Awkward” wasn’t even the word. It was a disaster.
Having to see Nico regularly? Not only that but he would be working with your team and spending time with Lewis.
You didn’t know how you were going to handle this.
“You’re joking Jenson. Please tell me you’re joking”
“I wish I was”
Jenson said as he walked away.
You knew this was bad, so much worse than you had thought it was going to be.
Working with Nico was going to be hard enough.
But working with him while you had all these unresolved feelings for Lewis and unfortunately for Nico as well?
This was going to be a train wreck.
“How am I supposed to do this?”
You said to yourself as you leaned against the wall of the paddock.
You were panicking, there was no way you were going to be able to concentrate on work with this going on.
“Come on, pull yourself together.”
You talked to yourself, trying to get yourself together.
The last thing you needed right now was to be a mess before you even started work, if you could even work at all.
“Just don’t make a big deal out of it. It’s not that bad.”
You were trying to convince yourself more than anyone else but it just felt more and more difficult.
Nico was back and that was a good thing, right? It would only be awkward if you made it awkward.
“It’s not that bad, it’s not that bad.”
You felt like you were going crazy as you kept repeating the same two sentences over and over.
If things were going to be awkward, they were going to be awkward… but you didn’t have to overthink everything, did you?
You were walking through the paddock when you suddenly bumped into someone.
It took a second to realize who it was but the moment the person that had bumped into you spoke, you knew who it was.
“Watch where you’re going.”
The annoyed voice belonged to Nico, and he looked every bit as grumpy as you were feeling right at that moment.
The moment you saw him something in your chest tightened.
All the feelings that you had repressed over the last three years came rushing back, hitting you all at once.
You felt breathless, shocked, you didn’t know what to say.
It was like you had forgotten how to breathe.
“I’m sorry” you said looking down at the ground and not looking at him
“You’re sorry?”
Nico gave an amused smile.
“Is that it? After three years of silence, all I get is an apology?”
He wasn’t being rude, he was just teasing.
But that didn’t make a difference to how it felt, every word out of his mouth had the potential to break you.
“What do you want me to say Nico you left me remember” you say stepping around him
“I know I did.”
A flicker of hurt crossed Nico’s face.
“I was selfish, I shouldn’t have left the way I did. I should have stayed and dealt with it.”
You could see the pain in his expression and you felt a pang of guilt.
“I thought it was the only way.”
Nico explained.
“I was afraid that if I stayed I’d just mess things up even more. I thought we would be better off if I was gone.”
“You thought we would be better off?”
You didn’t even care about the other stuff, that one line had broken your heart.
You couldn’t believe that Nico had thought you were better off without him.
“God you’re so selfish” you say walking away from him.
You had to get away from Nico. All those feelings came rushing back and they hit you like a freight train and it was only a matter of time before you crumbled.
“Wait!”
Nico’s voice called out as you walked away.
“Hey!”
He said again, but you just kept walking.
You couldn’t deal with him right now, you were too overwhelmed with everything going on.
You just needed space.
Flashback to the night that Nico left.
Later that night after Lewis had calmed you down. You were lying in bed and you couldn’t sleep. Rolling over you grabbed your phone and called Nico.
No one picked up the phone rang twice and you were met with
“The number you are trying to reach is unavailable please try again later”
Nico had blocked you and that hurt even more than him leaving and there was no point in trying anymore.
The silence of his voice mail was deafening.
He’d blocked you and there was no way you could contact him
The realization hit you like a ton of bricks.
Nico really did just leave, there was no coming back from that.
You felt like your heart had just been ripped out, how could he have done this?
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it did.
Nico just never came back.
The days turned into months and the months turned into years.
You waited and you waited and you waited.
Until one day you couldn’t anymore.
Nico wasn’t coming back, he never was.
Present time
“God Nico what do you want?!” You yelled people in the paddock taking notice
“I just wanted to talk.”
Nico kept his cool, he had no intentions of arguing with you here.
He tried to keep his eyes on you while being aware of the onlookers around you two.
“Can we go somewhere…privately?”
“Privately?”
You were skeptical.
“What do we need to talk about?”
You asked, he had already given you the most important piece of information already, what could he possibly need to say to you that was private?
“Please”
Nico asked once more, he was being respectful. You could see the determination in his eyes.
He clearly had something to say that couldn’t be said in public.
You didn’t want to hear anything he had to say but you agreed to talk to him in private.
“No and that’s final” you tell him finally getting away from him.
Jenson walked up to Nico and slapped a hand down on his shoulder.
“You messed up big time man. When you left that broke her it’s going to take a miracle for her to trust you again.” Jenson tells Nico
“I know I did.”
Nico’s eyes were filled with remorse.
He knew that he had hurt you but he had been too wrapped up in his own emotions to consider how this would affect you.
Jenson had a point, the odds of you trusting him again were slim to none, but he had to try.
“Just her? Because Nico you leaving didn’t just break her it broke Lewis also and If I’m being honest I thought and so did everybody else think that the three of you were dating” Jenson said causally
“What? What are you talking about?”
Nico was taken aback by this news, what had people been thinking all these years?
“Wait you guys-you guys thought that…we?”
“Yeah we all thought you guys were together”
Jenson explained, everyone saw the way you three acted with each other.
And there was always this tension whenever you were in the same room all three of you.
They had all thought you were dating, that you three had been a triad relationship this whole time.
“No way.”
Nico was in shock, he had never once considered that.
He had spent years thinking you guys had just been friends and he had given up everything for that.
Was he an idiot this whole time?
“Everybody thought the same thing.”
Jenson continued.
It made sense, the way you three acted around each other.
There was always a weird tension between you guys, it made them all wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes.
“So people had been shipping the three of us?”
Nico was trying to wrap his head around this new development, he felt stupid for not realizing that was what everyone thought.
“Yes” Jenson said and added “the three of you did everything together so you can’t really blame anyone for thinking that”
“That is insane.”
Nico shook his head trying to process the information.
This opened up a whole new can of worms.
The whole time everyone had thought that the three of you were a triad and they actually weren’t too far from the truth.
But he hadn’t realized that at the time, he had been so caught up in his own head.
“Is it or are you just in denial” Jenson says
"Maybe a little bit of both."
Nico admitted.
It had never occurred to him that the way you three behaved might give people the wrong idea.
The way you all loved to hang out together and spend all your time together.
People had thought it was more than just friends.
“I’m an idiot” Nico admits
"You are not an idiot."
Jenson said, reaching out and slapping his back reassuringly.
"This whole time you were just thinking about things from your perspective and not the perspective of...well everyone else."
"I know when I came back I thought I would be able to just pick up where I left off as though I never left in the first place...then today when I bumped into her I realized just how much things have change."
“And I can’t stand it.”
Nico said softly.
He felt so lost and overwhelmed, he wished he could just turn back the clock and go back to a time before he left.
He missed having you both in his life, he missed your friendship, he missed everything.
"She is angry with me."
Nico mumbled to Jenson.
"I know I hurt her, I was an idiot. I thought I could leave and she wouldn't care."
"Did you really think this wouldn't affect her?"
Jenson asked.
It seemed that even he was surprised by how out of touch Nico had been.
"I never thought about how it would affect her."
Nico said quietly.
He had been in his own bubble the whole time, thinking only about himself.
“You have to help me,” Nico says to jenson. “Help me talk to both of them”
“Me?”
Jenson asked.
“You know they both hate your guts right?”
It was not hard for Jenson to understand why either.
Nico had hurt you and Lewis both, and he had never tried to correct his mistake.
Jenson didn’t blame you for being mad and angry at him, he would have been too.
“Please just help me”
Nico begged.
“I can’t lose them again, you have to help me.”
He was almost pleading with Jenson to help him out.
“I can try. but I can’t make any guarantees that either of them will even want to talk to you.”
But Jenson was willing to help, he cared about the two of you, and he knew how much you had both lost because of Nico’s selfish decision.
“All I ask is that you try.”
Nico asked.
“Just try and do what you can to help me fix this.”
He was getting desperate, he didn’t want to lose either of you again.
“Okay okay I’ll do what I can but you gotta remember I can’t force them to do anything. If they don’t want to talk to you then there’s nothing I can do.”
Jenson tried to be practical, he was not going to promise the world when he had no idea if this would even work.
The room was tiny, almost cramped with the three of you in there.
It was a conference room, one that you had used before for business meetings.
You weren't exactly sure what Jenson thought this would accomplish, but you were here and there wasn't a whole lot you could do about it now.
The silence in the room was thick, and none of you wanted to break it.
Nico was nervous, he couldn't meet your eyes for more than a few seconds at a time.
Lewis was annoyed, he felt as though he was being forced to be here and he was not happy about it.
“So now what?”
Lewis asked, he wasn’t exactly in the mood for conversation.
The last time you all spoke was three years ago. There was a lot of history in this tiny room and there was a lot of tension.
“We should talk.”
Nico said softly, but he was met with only silence.
Lewis continued to stare straight ahead.
“Can we at least try?”
Nico said, there was a hint of frustration in his voice as he tried to get Lewis to talk.
“There is nothing to talk about.”
Lewis said, the tone of his voice was sharp, he didn't like being forced to talk to Nico.
He was here because Jenson had made him, not because he had wanted to actually see or talk to Nico.
“Yes there is.”
Nico responded.
“There is a lot to talk about.”
He could see that Lewis was still annoyed, but he refused to give up like he had when he left.
“I don’t want to talk about this.”
Lewis said, his voice was still sharp and there was no give in it.
He was not going to give in to Nico, not now that it was all fresh in his mind all the hurt and the pain that had been caused by him leaving.
“Whether you want to or not, we have to.”
Nico said, the frustration in his voice was evident.
He was done tiptoeing around this issue; he wanted to get this over with once and for all.
“I left, there is nothing to discuss.”
Lewis said simply.
He was unwilling to go any further with this discussion, he didn’t want to hear anything Nico had to say.
“You left and I had to pick up the pieces Nico you abandoned us” Lewis said.
“I didn’t abandon you, I left for myself.”
Nico said in response.
Lewis’s words cut deep, and the frustration and anger in his voice was evident.
“So we didn’t matter to you then?”
“Of course, you mattered to me, more than I cared to admit at the time.”
Nico said, the truth was finally seeping out of him.
Lewis’s words had broken down the wall he had built around his emotions, and he was finally being honest.
“Then why did you leave?”
Lewis asked, his voice no longer sharp; a tinge of hurt was present.
“Because I was scared.”
Nico said simply.
Lewis’s eyes widened slightly, he hadn’t expected this.
“Scared of what?”
“That we all cared about each other more than I thought.”
Nico said, he couldn't believe he was finally admitting this.
“Scared that what we had wouldn't last and if I stayed I was gonna end up hurting you.”
Nico wasn't sure how they would react to this admission, maybe they would laugh at him or make fun of him, but he had to hope they would just listen.
“You should have stayed Nico we would have figured things out” you finally say.
“I know that now.”
Nico said almost quietly, a weight seemed to lift from his shoulders.
“If I could go back, I would. I would do things differently.”
He hated that he had to learn this lesson the hard way, but he had no one to blame but himself.
“Well, I wish you had.”
Lewis sighed, the anger was gone from his voice and instead he sounded sad.
He wished that Nico had not left, he wished they could have talked about their fears back then.
“So do I.”
Nico said.
He truly did wish he had stayed.
He was overwhelmed with the feelings of regret he had been carrying with him for years.
He hated that he had left.
“Then why did you leave?”
Lewis asked again, the anger was creeping back into his voice.
He still couldn’t understand why Nico had abandoned them all those years ago.
He wanted an answer, he needed an answer.
“I thought it was best…at least at the time.”
Nico said, there was a note of sadness in his voice.
“I…”
Nico hesitated, what he was about to say was the deepest confession he had ever made.
“…I thought leaving was the best thing for all of us.”
Nico finally admitted.
After years and years of keeping this bottled up, he was finally getting it all out into the open.
“Yeah well it wasn’t. And you leaving broke me Nico. I loved you since we were teenagers and you left me behind you left both of us” you said
“I’m so sorry…”
Nico said softly, his eyes were filled with tears.
He had no idea the damage he had done when he left.
“I was so stupid, I didn’t realize how much it would hurt you. Or for that matter how much it would hurt me too.”
“I should’ve realized…”
Nico said, choking up slightly as he spoke.
He had no words for how badly he had screwed up, the only thing he knew is that he was incredibly sorry.
“You have no idea how much I regret it everyday.”
Nico admitted.
Lewis looked at him, he still couldn’t believe that Nico was saying this.
If someone had asked him yesterday if Nico would ever admit to regretting his decision, he would have said no. And yet here he was.
“I thought I was doing what was best for all of us…I never imagined it would end like this.”
Nico continued.
Lewis didn't know what to say; he still couldn't believe this conversation was happening.
“What do we do now?” You asked
“I don’t know…I just wanted to apologize for leaving. I…”
Nico stuttered, he still wasn’t sure what to say.
“Can I ask one thing of you?”
Nico asked.
“What?"
Lewis asked, he was curious about what Nico wanted to ask.
“Can we just…”
Nico hesitated before continuing.
“Can we start over?”
“Start over?”
Lewis asked.
“Are you serious?”
“Dead serious, I want to try again, I want to try and repair our friendship...I want us to be like we were when we were teenagers.”
Nico said.
“I want to start over with the both of you” Nico says looking at you and Lewis
“You mean like the three of us being friends again?”
Lewis asked for clarification.
He wanted to be absolutely sure what Nico meant.
“Yes.”
Nico confirmed.
“I want the three of us to be friends, like when we were teenagers before everything happened.”
He paused.
“I don’t want to lose you guys again.”
“This would require one of us to forgive you.”
Lewis said, looking at you.
He had heard what Nico said, but it was still a lot to process.
The anger he had felt towards Nico was starting to subside but he wasn’t sure how to react to what had just occurred.
“I know, but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”
Nico turned his sights back to you.
“I want to prove that I have changed, and that I made a mistake leaving. Just please give me one more chance.”
“Can I be honest with you?”
It was a strange feeling being asked to forgive someone.
No one had ever admitted their faults to him before, so he felt a little overwhelmed.
He really wanted to say yes, but he didn’t know if he could.
“Please, I need honesty right now.”
Nico was almost begging, he couldn’t imagine living without both you and Lewis in his life.
He was desperate for Lewis to forgive him after all this time.
"Yes."
Lewis said.
He was finally willing to admit that Nico's words had affected him.
Lewis was willing to hear Nico out, and see where this would go from here.
"I appreciate that you are admitting your mistakes, I'll tell you that."
"So you are willing to give me another shot?"
Nico said, it felt unreal to him.
"You're not mad that I left?"
"I am mad that you left...and that you broke both our hearts."
Lewis said softly.
"But I also know that you made a choice thinking it would be the best decision for everyone.
Even though I disagree with it I can understand your logic."
"So does that mean you will forgive me?"
Nico asks anxiously.
He was hopeful that Lewis still harbored some type of love in his heart for him.
Whether platonic or romantic he didn't care, he just wanted him back in his life.
"Yes."
Lewis said, there was no doubt in his voice.
He had forgiven Nico, he just hoped that Nico would never make that mistake again.
"I forgive you...I know that you made a mistake, and that you felt like it was the best thing for everyone, although you were wrong."
“How about you Y/n do you forgive me?” Nico asked looking at you
“Yeah I forgive you Nico against my better judgement I forgive you” you say.
"Thank you."
Nico said, an overwhelming sense of relief washed over him.
He had been praying for this moment for years, and now it had finally happened.
Lewis had forgiven him, and he was willing to start over with him.
"Is it alright if we hug?"
“Yes.”
Lewis and you both said at the same time.
The three of you embraced, the weight of all those years lifted with that hug.
There was a sense of relief and satisfaction for all three of you.
No words were spoken, no explanations necessary.
Just the three of you together in that moment, all the problems washed away by one gesture of affection.
“I’ve missed you guys…”
Nico confessed.
It was true, he had missed you both in his life; he regretted leaving everything behind.
The three of you stayed together for a few moments longer, content in that moment.
for a brief moment, everything felt right in the world.
“We’ve missed you too.”
Lewis says, he is also glad that this day finally came.
After all these years he finally has his friends back in his life, and he is grateful for it.
“I’m glad that we could get over this, that we don’t have to hold onto all that pain and anger anymore.”
You add your own words, the air is lighter, now that this burden has been lifted off all your shoulders.
