Honestly, the characters in LIS act too much like Max is a manic pixie dream girl for me not to think she's autistic.

Like, I think it's an autism canon event for people to view your neurodivergence as "quirkiness," and that happens to Max a LOT in canon.

The amount of times someone goes "Max, you're really weird. But cool," is so many, and from lived autism experience that can very much be how interactions with neurotypical people go. They tend to not realize that the "uniqueness" they think they're recognizing is actually autism, and therefore they label the autistic person as either "weird" or the "manic pixie dream" stereotype.

Max is just written in such a specific way that I have a really hard time seeing her as a non autistic person. She fits my lived experience to a tee, and on my latest replay I fully realized how many boxes she checks.
