i mean... like this is literally a plot point in rotj when vader denies that his name is anakin
and luke replies with
then that means my father is truly dead
and you can see the conflict in vader
because anakin is luke's father
not vader
and he already realizes that he loves luke
his and padme's son
and to continue to be vader is denying his son of his father
his real father anakin skywalker
star wars isn't literal
there's always metaphor
i wish people would stop taking things so literally
