Not So Much Reality Based Speculation And More Braindumping Crazy Ideas Out Of Fun - Tumblr Posts
I have a crazy idea, how show-Lestat could have spent his additional human years he lived through, and the century he spent before meeting show-Louis. Is this a theory? Is this a fanfiction idea? Idk. It's a really long post. Did I mention the idea is crazy? And some details not completed? Okay, so we know there's a long gap between 20-year old book Lestat leaving for Paris and then getting turned into a vampire shortly after, and show Lestat being 34 when he was turned. In my idea, the first bit is just him taking a few years longer to leave for Paris (including Gabrielle not being as sick at that point), let's say he stayed in the village, managed somehow to avoid getting married. Maybe he got a job as a hunter because of the whole wolf killer thing. But he's unhappy. Really unhappy. Nicki left years ago, *insert reason here*, for Paris, alone.
At 26 (1786), Lestat finally gathers the courage to leave too - but arriving in Paris, and alone, he begins to miss Nicki. And avoids the theatre at first, because it reminds him of Nicki's music. He is a bit depressive, gets another job. revisits the topic of religion - not as, him becoming a believer, but he does ask himself questions about the existence of god. Two years later (1788), he finally gathers the courage to look for a job at the theatre, and gets it, like in the book. And who is there, playing in the orchestra? Nicki! BAAAAM, reunion happens, old lovers to friends to lovers trope. His life is great, for about 6 months. Lestat gets on stage. It's now May of 1789, Lestat is 28 years old. Oh, what's that around the corner? BAM, the French Revolution hits. Nicki convinces Lestat to quit the theatre, to help Lestat's family escape and not get killed. Maybe they go to Italy. 3 years later (1792), they return to France, thinking the worst is over - only to be ambushed, his father and brothers getting killed while he manages to escape with Gabrielle and Nicki. They hide for a year, Lestat is scarred, having witnessed a lot of death around him. The topic of religion comes up again, and he gets weird visions about god and the devil, foreshadowing Memnoch the Devil. In 1793 they move back to paris, Gabrielle now getting sicker, where Lestat, under another name, gets back on stage because hey, let's just forget the past and focus on a great future! His career flourishes, a year goes by and Lestat really works a lot and upps his acting game, partially as a distraction from his mother slowly dying and dealing with the trauma he experienced. In 1794, he gets into a fight defending someone (no idea), similar to the wolf killer thing, and this is not a nice fight. He gets so viscious, and maims his opponents - this is what gets Magnus's attention. Same things like in the book happen then, the abduction from their bedroom, etc. Only, that Lestat doesn't stay away for so long, and returns to Nicki and Gabrielle faster, also acting again despite being a vampire - this would fall in line with Armand's recount of how they met in Paris, if Armand was telling the truth. Lestat turns Gabrielle, the whole Nicki-abducting thing occurs. Gabrielle has already left the city alone, when Lestat steps foot into the coven to get nicki back alone (as portrayed by Armand in the show, again: if he was telling the truth. Maybe Armand was - and the one with the tattoo in the Season 3 teaser wasn't just a "iwtv turns into pop culture with fandom fights"-thing). He turns Nicki to "save him", things turn out badly. Then the Lesmand short lived romance happens because Lestat wants to get more powerful, wanting Armand to teach him. And he doesn't want to be alone, without Gabrielle. Establishing of the vampire theatre occurs. And after that Lestat leaves Paris to go after Gabrielle, leaving Armand behind. More than a century goes by - which he spends travelling with Gabrielle, hybernating for longer, then meeting Marius, after that hibernating again for a bit, before he finally wakes up and decides he wants a break from all those other european vampires. America, watch out, Lestat comes. Okay, so: why did he go to New Orleans, when his father was already dead? In the show he said he wanted to go to St. Louis originally - maybe he heard that St. Louis had been the center point for catholicism in the mid-west in the 18th century. And despite being a vampire and maybe agnostic by then, because in all those years before he had, different from book canon, he had already revisited the idea of religion. He's curious. Wants to know more because why not. Wants to find out if catholicism is still a thing there. Then he stops in New Orleans and gets to know Louis. ... that's it. This isn't what I think will happen in season 3, it's just a thought experiment, from the brain of someone glued to this hyperfixation really hard.
