I. Obanai

One word: surprised

He possesses an immense sense of self-loathing and believes himself to be unworthy, and he would never expect anyone to admire him, which is why he'll initially treat you quite coldly and be quite distant

Furthermore, he'll try in every way to either ignore or avoid you, as will happen many times when you try to talk to him. For example, once, while he's training, you'll bring him a plate of Tororo Kombu with a dazzling smile; he'll look at you for a few minutes, processing your gesture, then he'll not gently snatch it from your hand and walk away

However, he'll change after two events: the first will be a conversation with Mitsuri, who will convince him to talk to you; the second will be your rescue from a demon stronger than you

As time passes, he'll very slowly get closer to you: he'll start to no longer avoid you, to accept your gifts and even follow your training if you're a demon slayer (he may even develop the thought of welcoming you as his Tsuguko). Regarding your friendship, instead, perhaps it'll take him a while to admit it...

If you didn't know, Tororo Kombu, Obanai's favorite food, is made by sea kelp in vinegar and cutting it into thin threads. It's fluffy and, when you put it in water, it'll thicken, and it's often put in miso soup and udon.

I. Obanai

He'll pause for a few seconds to realize what you called him, only blinking and remaining still

After realizing you called him by his name, he'll stare at you with his mouth wide open and his cheeks flushed, but you won't see them due to his bandages

From that moment on, if you call him by his last name, he'll fear he's made you angry

"I'm sorry..." "Why are you apologizing?" "Didn't I make you angry?" "No. Why?" "Nothing..." "Iguro?" "...I don't want you to call me by my last name anymore..."

However, he still won't be able to call you by your name, and he'll hate it

U. Tengen

I'm pretty sure he started calling you by your name, and he's long encouraged you to do the same

Nevertheless, he still won't be prepared when you do: he'll blush so much he'll have to cover his face with his hands

By the way, when that happens, his wives will be with him, and know Makio they'll make fun of him for days

From that moment on, if you call him by his last name, he'll ignore you until you call him by his name, and that will last even for days

For example, the day after his reaction, fearing you've embarrassed him in front of his wives, you'll call him by his last name; he'll have ignored you for exactly thirty-eight hours, until you understood what he wanted
