Take You Away  ➳Yandere Deadlock!McCree x reader➳ pt. II

warnings? Maybe a hint of violence at the end.

part i

Motorcycles thundered down the dirt road and dust trails rose and fell in their wake. Overpowered engines shattered the natural peace of the grassy, country valley as the sun bled the sky in violets and reds. Jesse’s hair flew behind him in chocolate curls as you begrudgingly held on for dear life. Your stomach felt every bump and dip as you and the gang flew through the valley like bats out of hell. You were on your way to the next farm that caught their eye as Deadlock gang was on a nomadic passage to the next safe location.

Dirt clouded the visor of your helmet and didn’t help to ease your nausea. Your eyes trailed to Jesse’s hair that whipped here and there, recalling how he placed the helmet on your head without permission, dubbing you “precious cargo.” You rolled your eyes. If it was how it used to be you would worry for his safety or be flattered at his care for you, but you couldn’t afford to soften for him again. Betrayal was still too fresh in your heart to ever give him another inch. Your hands loosened from around his waist as you considered letting go and allowing yourself to tumble from the bike into a landing that would hopefully break your neck.

The plains were too flat and the grass too soft in cushioning your fall so you would wait until a better opportunity presented itself.

The sun was beginning to set on the horizon when you allowed your eyes to trail to the deadlock member riding beside you. His skin was sun-kissed bordering on leathery and harsh stubble gathered along his strong jaw. Though his eyes had crows’ feet and he was beginning to develop laugh lines he was handsome and wore a slight grin as if there was some joke only he was in on. He caught your eye and winked, and you swiveled your head in the other direction. ‘God, do they all do that?’

That night at Nana’s when you came face to face with the gang that you had only heard of in hushed whispers was slightly underwhelming. Some of these men were handsome. Some you recognized from around town. None you could see being in such a notorious gang and you guess that was the true cause of the dread that iced your spine—the fact that these men were and could be anyone. They walked among the common masses and you had no idea.

Everyone killed their engines as they decelerated into a cruise through a darkened forest. “We’ll leave the bikes in the brush and head towards that barn.” Jesse stated as he pulled over behind a strong oak and helped you from his bike. Every single bit of contact his skin made against yours made you want to wash. “I know you must be sore, sugar. Don’t worry, we’ll sleep soon.”

A few guys dropped their bikes loudly so they could stretch and pop achy joints. “Watch it!” Ashe reprimanded.

“Why can’t we just keep riding?” A particularly achy member asked, “Or why not just bust in an’ take the house for ourselves? I’m sick of layin’ in the hay.” He grumbled but Ashe was quick to stamp down any sliver of insubordination.

“Because,” Ashe’s pupils were bullets and venom dripped from her every word. ‘Why did he do a stupid thing like that?’ “We don’t need no more trouble on our way to the location and a trail of corpses is the closest way to find us!”

Ashe was in his face before your eyes adjusted to the dark, her alabaster complexion shown vividly in the choked darkness. “Now, I support any question that ain’t a stupid one, but just so happens that any question questioning my way of doing things is a stupid one.” There was no sound but her voice and the shallow breaths of the others. You held yours. “Now, put that fucking bike away properly before I put you away.” And everyone scattered to hide their bikes as perfectly as they could even without a light to see.

Putting some space between you and Jesse, you found yourself arm to arm with Bob. You glanced up at him to see his eyes glowing through the gloom and already looking at you. You waved weakly; you hadn’t met any omnics outside of hospitals and superstores where you were from. “Hey…” he was still before waving cheerily at you.

“Oh, looks like Bob here’s made a friend.”

The smile froze on your face stiffly when that drawl reached your ears. You turned slowly to see Ashe radiant in the moonlight. She walked gracefully over the scattered leaves without having to watch her step. “Glad to see you’re fittin’ in just fine.”

You couldn’t bring yourself to answer sarcastically and you couldn’t lie by agreeing. Caught in a limbo your lips formed an awkward, tight line. She gazed at you a bit longer with that indiscernible smile on her face before whipping her hair over her shoulders. “Everyone to the barn.” She had been giving you that smile every time you seemed to draw her attention—which was more often than not. What was she thinking?

Gangsters ambled through the brush while you kept yourself rooted to the spot. No one took notice as you let yourself fall to the back of the pack and then a lone straggler as you began to lose sight of the group. You didn’t know where you were, but maybe you could take off running until you stumbled onto a road and then followed it a few miles to the next house. Could it be so easy?

No.

Arms seized your waist and held you close, and stubble scraped against your cheek. “Waitin’ up for me, sugar?” Jesse cooed as he held you in an embrace slightly below crushing and swayed side to side to silent ballroom music.

“Hardly.” You spit out before you could stop yourself, but thankfully he acted like he hadn’t heard you.

“We haven’t been able to be alone like this for forever.” He hummed, “Ain’t it nice? Jus’ you an’ me.” His voice dropped low and softened and it was almost soothing as the tension faded from your shoulders.

“I didn’t know you started Deadlock.”

He flinched, “It wasn’t just me—”

“Same difference.”

He was quiet but still swaying as he rested his head on your shoulder. “What’s done is done.” He didn’t try to deny, and the tone was proof that even if he had regrets, he had already done too much to turn back now. You knew it was a low blow but felt like berating him. You needed a way to get this anger out. He never spoke of his parents, but from all your time together you knew that this gang had been the only chance he had of survival all those years ago.

“If only I met you first.” He would say to you with a look of complete devotion when you two were alone. If only…

Jesse perked up, refilled with vigor to cheer you up. Couldn’t he understand that you couldn’t go back to the way you were?

“Y’know…Ashe won’t come looking for us for a while now.” He pulled you into him, stomach against stomach and you pressed into his spread legs as he leaned carelessly against a tree. “If we make a sound, an’ no one’s around to hear it, y’know?”

You stared at him sternly before that old twinkle came back. The same mirth that came whenever he used to say something corny to get a reaction, “That’s not even how that works!”

“Well, of course it’ll still happen, but…”

“Get to the barn, Jesse McCree.”

“I love when ya take charge, sweet pea.”

You climbed the wooden ladder to the loft. Moonlight was your only aid as you grabbed handfuls of hay to pull yourself aboard. Ashe had already made a nest for herself and had taken off her boots and extra accessories. You had been sleeping beside Ashe at night—her orders much to Jesse’s despair—and you came to notice her little rituals. She carried a small bowl and water decanter with her to wipe off her foundation, sunblock and lipstick, letting her much paler—bordering on translucent—skin get a breather overnight. She slept with smaller pistols in the waistband of her trousers and was an incredibly light sleeper. When she folded up a discarded shirt or her own coat to rest her head on, the hand tucked in for support would be clutching a razor-sharp hunting knife.

You obviously wanted to keep your distance at night, but she insisted you slept on a hair’s breadth apart.

“Us girls gotta stick together.” She chided feigning as if she wasn’t the deadliest person in a 30-mile radius.

You plopped down beside her and turned your back. The hay helped preserve body heat at least and it was still fresh.

“Did you remember to take your medicine?” You laid quietly before rolling back over and sitting up. “No.” You extended a hand as she was already jingling her little pouch of pink pills. “You can’t skip a single day. We don’t need any liabilities on the road.”

The little pouch contained birth control; small tablets resembling sweet tarts but not as good if you accidentally bite down. “Here’s something to drink.” She handed you her thermal of cold coffee and you nodded in thanks.

The small tablets went down hard every time when you thought of the implications.

“Ashe…” You murmured in the quiet of the loft as the men below had settled in for the night.

“Hmm?” she hummed as she was putting the thermos away.

Ask about the birth control. Why do you need them? What’s going to happen to you? What are they planning? Can’t you talk or beg your way out of this?

“Thank you.”

The smile that bloomed on her face was genuine as she placed a truly lily-white hand against your cheek. “Don’t fret none. I’m just lookin’ out for what’s best for you.”

If only that were true.

You lay awake all night looking for answers.

The next day you all continued your passage to a more stable base of operations.

“It’s this old shanty town type place.” A guy pipes up as he recalls, “There’s a building like a compound and it’s in the middle of the desert.” You listen in feeling sicker by the second as you picture the scene. Wide open desert meant no place to hide if you made a run for it. You couldn’t run at night as Ashe was an extremely light sleeper and you always met her eyes every time you merely budged while sleeping. Jesse kept a tight leash on you during the day, so options were scarce.

“We’ll fin’ly stay somewhere with a shower.” He nudged you jovially, “Bet the misses will like that.” He chirped with a mouth missing only a few teeth.

“Shoot yeah.” You tried to grin amicably. Despite the company you found yourself in, it seemed like most treated you warmly. With growing horror, it was almost like you were part of the gang.

“Ya always smell like roses to me, babe.” Jesse said as he lifted you up from behind and over the shoulder. “Don’t!” The world spun as he twirled you both around. “I’m dizzy!”

“Ol’ McCree’s always gotta show off his pretty. young thing.” Someone said to which others catcalled and whistled. Jesse settled you down gently but you wobbled and held tight to him so you wouldn’t fall. “’Course! Y/n’s my treasure.” His voice became more earnest as he dropped the joking tone, “She’s a good woman.”

“We know, we know!” The rest crowed and like that you turned your back to continue the trek on the narrow foot path.

When dirt gave to sand and wind was visible, you knew that you were close. Everyone mounted their bikes and you were seated in front of Jesse with his arms caging you as he steered.

You don’t know how long you rode like this as there were no land markers but cacti that could’ve gotten up and walked for all you knew. You knew you were there when the concrete building came into view. It did look like a compound with lesser enforced shacks built off of it. It was one story with square, dirty windows and you could see people going about their business hanging laundry and tending to the animals.

When Jesse accelerated instead of decelerating, your heart caught in your throat.

“Jesse…What’s…”

“Shh, sugar.” He cooed into your ear, “Just business as usual.”

Someone fired a gun and a clay pot exploded into a million little pieces. “Jesse, stop!”

“No one has to get hurt.” He murmured, “As long as no one tries to be a hero this will all be quick an’ painless…” And suddenly he was far beyond his years as you were going to see Deadlock McCree.

Motorcycles barreled into the courtyard, tearing down laundry lines and flipping tables. People screamed as they grabbed each other and their children out of the way as the deadlock members drove indiscriminately. More gunshots, more screams, no one hit, but they were being terrorized and herded like cattle here and there. Some men dismounted and took to raiding the rooms and ripping people from their hiding places. Crying faces were brought to light and you elbowed and turned to beat Jesse as hard as you could. You couldn’t just be a bystander.

These people cried out in a language you couldn’t recognize, and you finally realized this was something of a reservation. Unprotected by the government but allowed to exist all the same. Deadlock was harming people who no one would fight for.

“Now, stop that. It’s almost done.” Jesse pinned your arms to your sides with ease and you wrenched around viciously, kicking and hissing, not caring if you tipped the bike over and you along with it. You screamed and tried to bite Jesse’s nose clean off. The louder and desperate the cries you heard, the more hurried you were. You successfully head butt Jesse and he released you in his surprise. Completely on autopilot, you reached for one of his guns that he had never thought to conceal from you. You had never reached for it before and you were beginning to understand that being underestimated was the greatest strength you had at this point. You jumped off the bike and turned to the frenzied pillaging. The gangsters laughed with malice and sadistic glee as they chased women carrying their dazed children off the res. Men who didn’t get the hint had a punch to the jaw and another for clear measure. The elderly were shoved and goaded, and everything was complete hell.

You fumbled with the safety as you put a quick distance between you and Jesse.

“Y/n! Get back here!” You aimed, you wouldn’t kill but you needed this to stop. You needed all of this depravity to stop. You aimed at the leg of a running gangster and fired just when Jesse tackled you to the ground.

“What do ya think you’re doing?” He crushed the air from your lungs and your ears were ringing from the impact your head made against the tightly packed ground. Was the back of your head bleeding? You think you hit a rock. Sand went into your nose and you couldn’t lift the hand holding the pistol as Jesse grabbed your wrist and wrenched it from you.

“Are you outta your mind? You could’ve gotten hurt!” You stared up at him quietly until you raised yourself on your elbows just enough to spit in his face.

“Good. What makes me any more important than any of these people? They could get hurt, Jesse.” Your eyes met and the sheer astonishment in his usually warm brown eyes—always warm when they were looking at you—gave you a sad satisfaction. “You’re a monster.”

An explosion of pain erupted against your left cheek and you felt like something burst. Your head crashed against the dirt again and this time you did not get up.

oH god whose gonna tell them

Do some people in this fandom genuinely not know c!Techno wasn't being serious when he said he was "peer pressured" into executing c!Tubbo?

He was joking because that wasn't true! It was an understatement! It was comedically diminishing what had just happened, and that's what the narrative itself framed as him being threatened and having problems with anxiety! He was just ordered to execute an ally by a dictator who seemingly had an entire group of people by his side. None of Techno's own allies would help him.

That's not "peer pressure", that's what we call being forced to decide between killing and ally and possibly both of you being killed as well as the entire operation compromised! It was the trolley problem and Techno pulled the lever. He would rather be directly responsible for one person's death by action rather than ruining everything and possibly killing more people by inaction. Saying c!Tubbo's death is "his fault" is not 100% factually incorrect, but man is it unfair.

And please don't say "he took them on later on and started shooting into the crowd", that's entirely out of context and removes the fact that he didn't know how the fireworks would work, and they ended up killing both Schlatt and Quackity - hence it was reasonable to assume the crowd would be after him and a fight would ensue, so he started preemptively shooting as to get as many people as possible so they wouldn't run after him.

"Peer pressure is a pisspoor excuse for murdering someone" Well yes because that's not what happened! It was a god damn hostage situation if anything, and although c!Tubbo didn't deserve to die, c!Techno also didn't deserve to be forced to execute him.

I'd like to point out that if it was actually one of his 'mates' he would say their name.

"we made these playlists on Spotify, me and Oli"

"We made these playlists on Spotify, me and my [mate]"

“I normally put this, uh, we’ve got a couple of playlists on Spotify that me and my mate have made so i just throw one of them on, but yeah it kind of depends on the mood yeah”

— What kind of songs do you listen to? is it the same song or does it just depend on your mood? - Louis for BBC Radio Sheffield - 05.02

todayimfour - Today im four

You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.

Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…

…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.
