So, gender in Peter Pan thoughts.
Peter doesn’t know how to tell the difference between boys and girls. So he just assumes that anyone who falls out of their pram is a boy, and anyone who doesn’t is a girl. He’ll believe you if you tell him your gender, but absent that, he defaults to “did they fall out of their pram?”
This means that not only does he recognize Wendy as a girl, but he also assumes that Michael and John are as well until they tell him otherwise. (It also might mean that Peter has questions about his own gender since he didn’t fall out of his pram, he ran away.)
Adults he sorts into four categories: Mothers, Fathers, Pirates, and Others.
One of the Lost Boys had a birth certificate identifying him as a girl. But Peter figured “Boys fall out of their prams. This is a boy.” And they didn’t correct him. So whichever one it is lives as a boy in Neverland.
When the Darlings adopt all six of the Lost Boys, it doesn’t take Mrs. Darling very long to notice. But when she speaks to him, he makes it very clear that he considers himself to be a boy. And Mrs. Darling accepts that. She makes it very clear to her husband and Liza and Nana that this one is a boy too and is to be treated the same as the other boys.
This being the early 1900s, there’s not really puberty blockers or surgeries or testosterone or anything available. But Mrs. Darling does the best she can, letting him dress like the other boys and using correct pronouns. And whichever boy it is (I don’t really care, it can be Slightly or Toodles, or Curly, or Nibs, or one of the twins), never feels like he’s any less accepted and loved than the others.
Mrs. Darling does not care to listen to anyone who tries to disagree. You must be mistaken, she does not have a second daughter. She only has one daughter, and that’s Wendy. You must mean one of her eight sons. Yes it is a large family and it is probably easy to get confused, but only Wendy is a girl. And she says this so firmly that no one would dare argue with her.
TL;DR: Peter Pan doesn’t give a single fuck about gender. One of the Lost Boys is trans. And Mrs. Darling is an excellent mother to her nine children.
one of the funniest thing that happens to me regularly is when i'm dressed The Way I Dress, esp in very short shorts or very audacious trousers, and straight women start giving me A Look that's meant to be like. a policing look between women, to show social disapproval
but then they look up at my face, realise i'm a man and NOT a woman, and you see them doing like. a double take, often with their jaws full on dropped
bc their intention was to do the crab bucket slutshaming thing at another woman and it doesn't apply to me... or does it?
bc sometimes they decide to go back to Plan A and do the slutshamey lipcurl of disgust (they've decided i count as a woman) and other times they sort of tut and avert their eyes entirely (they've decided i count as a homo)
and other times they just. stare. (forget to decide)
ngl, as an alloaro person i just dont feel wanted in 90% of aspec spaces. yall refuse to remember we exist and that aroace and ace people arent the only ones out there, and when we talk about our sexual attraction 9/10 times we're told to shut up bc we're making sex-repulsed people uncomfortable and sexualizing queerness when newsflash, we have JUST as much a right to be there as any acespec or sex-repulsed person. we're important too yall
what r ur thoughts on metal sonic
God, he's so cool. Metal Sonic is an effortlessly sleek character. His design has aged so well. In both conception and execution, he's fascinating. If there weren't so many good Sonic characters competing for my attention already, he'd be one of my favourites.
Metal Sonic is the original not-Sonic. He was designed by Doctor Eggman to be this perfect weapon --- to take Sonic's finest qualities and not only turn them against him, but improve upon them. Machines do not tire, or sass you, or possess pesky little things like "free will". That's the idea, anyways.
Of course, Metal Sonic isn't really better than Sonic, is he?
He is a real threat. He can easily go toe-to-toe with Sonic. But he's only a simulacrum of the original. A copy. No matter how many times he fights Sonic, no matter how hard he or Eggman try to improve upon his programming, he'll never quite measure up. Sonic will always win in the end.
This ties in nicely with the environmentalist themes of the Sonic series. As a robot, Metal Sonic is undermined by the very things thought to make him an improvement. He does not have Sonic's level of free will, or his thirst for adventure, or his love of helping others, all of which empower Sonic to keep fighting when things are down to the wire. Sonic's speed is a natural part of him, whereas Metal Sonic is propelled by circuitry and engines, things particularly susceptible to overheating and self-destruction when ran at high speeds over a long period of time.
Metal Sonic was created to destroy Sonic, and yet, he never will be able to fulfill this purpose. He'll never be "as good" as the real thing. This leaves him in a bit of an existential pickle. He externalizes these feelings of existential dread by challenging Sonic, attempting to surpass and defeat him, and to prove himself superior to his progenitor once and for all. He pursues this goal with a ruthless vengeance. My favourite Metal Sonic content, though, is the stuff that approaches Metal from a more introspective angle.
"Reflections" from the IDW 2020 annual comes to mind immediately when talking about quality Metal Sonic content. I'm not breaking new ground with this take, but it's absolutely worth mentioning anyways. Written by Caleb Goellner with art by Aaron Hammerstrom and Reggie Graham, it's this incredibly striking little story with almost no dialogue. It conveys Metal's mental state and existential discomfort with being an inhuman copy of Sonic really well! Just thinking about it is giving me shivers. AAH.

LOOK AT IT! LOOK AT HIM! The poor little guy... er, I mean, the poor little evil killer robot.
Oh well. I adore the "guy who has identity issues over being not being Sonic" trope to no end. It gets me every time. A lot of my feelings surrounding Metal are amplified in the context of, say, Shard, who's this Metal Sonic trying to define himself and be a hero in his own right (despite that fact that he has a limited understanding of how to do that beyond copying Sonic). Now there's a poor little guy for you. But Shard is a can of worms that could deserve his own post entirely.
Anyways, I love Metal. He's a really neat dude with a lot of potential. I hope more Sonic writers moving forwards take advantage of the more introspective angles to his character. I always enjoy seeing that kind of thing explored in media. Thank you for the ask!
Hey! Sorry for coming here again.
I would just like to know what your Sonic franchise headcannons.
No worries!! and TYSM! , i'm not gonna lie: i've been waiting for someone to ask about my headcanons so i would have an excuse to write them somewhere...

Note: i know that maybe 2 or 3 of these might be considered canon by some people depending on the portrayal they're thinking of, but at least i believe all of these are just fanon interpretations of -or add-ons to- canon material (a few might even go against it ). Some of these I came up with myself and others are popular readings of the characters that i try to support by including them in my fanart.
Anyways,Here's the OG 4 plus Shadow! (long post ahead so good moment to remind you that english is not my first language;;)

Sonic
He/they!!
Knows sign language and prefers it over spoken words.
Speed junkie. But he also loves to stop and smell the flowers ofc.
He's simple minded and he likes it that way. Doesn't overthink things. Just does what he feels is right.
Terrible cook. Also messy Af. Don't let him near the kitchen.
Orphan, remembers his family fondly, but doesn’t dwell on the past.
Loves nature and will do anything it takes to protect it. Doesn't trust any tech that isn't Tails approved.
Knows how to play acoustic guitar and is a pretty decent singer.
Contrary to popular belief,he likes chill music more than energetic bops. However,he does have a love for different kinds of rock.
Literally doesn't know the end of any movie cuz he always leaves before they end due to his impatience.
Thinks of himself not just as Tail's friend but also as his adoptive brother.
incredibly resilient.
He is working on allowing himself to be openly affectionate and more vulnerable around his close ones but damn, feelings have hands.
Talks over Shadow all the time just to annoy him.
As much as he has always had a heart of gold and has never stopped fighting injustice nor helping those in need,it took him some effort to stop being inmature and to learn how to keep his ego in check. In the present,he is more humble and consciously appreciative of the people around him, especially because life forced him to grow up way too fast due to the fact he was saving lives and raising Tails while being a literal child.
Too good at concealing his pain and worries in stressful situations and too quick to sacrifice himself for those he loves. He feels like everyone is counting on him and won't admit it when it's way more than he can handle.
Aro! 🖤🩶🤍💚

Tails
Also knows sign language and prefers it. (Sonic taught him).
Was abandoned,doesn't remember his parents.
Actively prefers to be called Tails over Miles.
Still a child but he doesn't like to be infantilized.
Pretty good at cooking and very organized.
Nothing makes him feel more at ease than listening to Sonic play the guitar.
Doesn't like to be around too much people.
Overthinks a lot but being around Sonic helps him distract himself.
Big fan if different kinds of vehicles, planes and ships.
Can be real silent and sneaky if he wants. He has accidentally scared Sonic in the past because of this;;
His fave music genre is math rock. But tbh he enjoys all music.
Carries stimming toys around cuz he is always fidgeting (he makes them himself ✨)
His favorite way to use technology is to help disabled people/animals and he'd love to dedicate himself to making prosthetics fulltime someday!!
Showed Sonic that ,in the right hands, technology can help nature (Sonic didn't trust machines very much before as he would associate them with industrialization and Robotnik ).
After facing abandonment and discrimination for having two Tails as a baby,he struggled with his self-steem. Thankfully, Sonic and friends have helped him see his tails are wonderful and in the present he knows there's nothing wrong with his appearance 🖤
Knows he's a genius and is very humble when people bring it up,but will get a little vain when Sonic prompts him to by acting like he doesn't recognize his talents (he does this on purpose cuz he likes to see his bud show- off)

Knuckles
Loves meditation
He doesn't just have incredible hearing, but an incredible sense of smell as well.
He sees the chao of Angel island as siblings due to growing up surrounded by them.
Loves and deeply appreciates Sonic and Tails but would rather die than letting them know (they already know.)
Is even worse than Shadow when it comes to technology.
Due to living on his own at Angel island, he can cook fantastic meals using only the ingredients that grow around him,no kitchen needed. He keeps this a secret tho,as he knows Sonic sometimes shows up at his friends homes to ask for food and he doesn't want to cook for him lol.
Bad at social cues and managing his anger, but very wise when it comes to spirituality. He is also incredibly patient.
Has a great memory.
Even though he's proud to be the guardian of the Master Emerald, deep inside he does hold some resentment for his ancestors,as he knows he shouldn't be the one paying for their mistakes.
He likes when others lean on him and sleeping in big piles. This is because that's how he and the chao used to do it when he was a child.
If he feels safe enough to sleep with you around, you might as well take that as the biggest demostration of trust you'll ever get from him.
For practical reasons,he doesn't usually wear clothes, but he actually enjoys dressing up from time to time, This is partially Amy's fault,as she helped him see it as a way of self-expression.
He tries to find out as much as he can about his ancestor's culture because he considers it an important part of his identity and doesn't want to let their traditions become lost to time.
Even though Sonic met Amy way earlier,It was him who grew closer to her first. Now she's the one that's most likely to get invited to Angel Island so they can have training sessions and do weight lifting together. (Tho Sonic is definitely the one who shows up uninvited the most, thinking that he can make it up to him by bringing him grapes...which actually works)
After Tails introduced him to music,Hip Hop became his favorite genre. However,He stills prefers the natural sounds of his home over any kind of music.

Amy Rose
She's my childhood favorite. This is not a headcanon this is just a fact.
Bi romantic ! 💙💜💗
Also an orphan. After her parents died she was taken care of by Big and later educated by Vanilla.
Impulsive and clumsy. Breaks things easily AND regularly. Laughs at herself when she trips tho.
She is learning sign language with Tails!!!
Due to forming a sister-like bond with Cream and spending so much time at her house from a very young age,she has come to see Vanilla as a mother figure.
Prefers Weapon-based combat but after training with Knux she has gotten pretty good at using her fists too.
Together with Shadow, they are the only hedgehogs to properly take care of their quills.
Her favorite music genres are Pop punk and alternative rock! She has a terrible singing voice but she doesn't care cuz she sings for fun :)!!
She has grown to be one of the most emotionally intelligent characters and a great listener, which is why most of her friends go to her first when they need help dealing with that kind of stuff or just someone to hear them.
Has the coolest collection of tarot decks to ever exist.
Nothing escapes her intuition.
The other reason she believes in destiny and fortune telling sm -besides these being related to when she met Sonic- is cause she seems to be able to sense what's coming and has had premonitory dreams before. However, she doesn't mention it much cuz she really doesn't know how to explain it properly.
If you ask her why is she the only hedgehog that can't turn super she'll answer that its because ✨she's always super ✨
Of the OG 4,she's the one who has changed the most. As she went from being an unexperienced child who dreamt of adventure and didn't know she had it in her to be a great leader to the fearless icon of strenght and determination that she is now 👏
Next ones are focused on her relationship with Sonic cuz i think it's an essential factor of her character development:
Struggled a lot with her identity and with letting go of idealizations, especially when it came to Sonic. She didn't realize it at first but her childish obsession with him came from her wish to be him, something that she projected on her "crush" for a long time.
At some point while growing up,it dawned on her that Sonic was uncomfortable with how she treated him and had to learn to respect his space and boundaries, as well as stop putting him on a pedestal. After she found herself and they truly started to know eachother,he finally felt comfortable enough to truly become her friend.
As a romantic,It also took her time to understand that Sonic's desinterest in romantic relationships didn't mean that he didn't love her in his own way (it especially confused her after they grew close and he started being more openly affectionate towards her). But with time, she accepted the fact that he will never be a boyfriend and, while a little dissapointed at first, she has come to fully suport him on his aromanticism and to see it as another aspect she can appreciate about him. Plus, she feels fullfilled just by being able to spend time with him and share their mutual affection, each in their own way.
HOWEVER she still makes jokes about how she's gonna marry him and stuff, just for old time's sake. Sonic replies with sassy comebacks ofc and they have fun annoying eachother.
While she always knew he cared for her, she doesn't know that even back when she mostly made Sonic feel uncomfortable ,he always saw strenght in her and admired her determination.

Shadow
Young but has an old soul. He's mentally in the 50's.
Loves looking at the night sky and is interested in astronomy because the thought of the emptiness of space makes him feel at peace.
Everytime he talks to Sonic he will try to speak the slowest he can and use the longest sentences known to man just to annoy him.
Likes to read detective novels.
Actually cares about the way he looks.
Thanks to Maria's influence,he still listens to music from the 50s- 60s and collects vinyls and records. Jazzy tunes are his faves.
Appreciates Rouge and Omega, but he associates bonding with vulnerability ,so he doesn't ever act on those feelings.
The people around him think his emotional distance and cold behavior are ways to protect his ego, they're trauma responses.
Doesn't understand Amy one bit but ever since they shared that one moment at the end of SA2 he can't help but care for her and doesn't mind hanging out with her.
Used to be a completely different person back at the space colony ARK. He was shy due to being the only mobian there and also very innocent due to his lack of knowledge about the world, which at that time was completely new to him. Ofc,he can't remember what that used to feel like or what thoughts were in his head.
Maria considered herself his big sister and while Shadow never called her that,he did see her as such.
Since most of his memories have been manipulated by Gerald, these are protagonized by his present self instead of the person he used to be. In other words, when he """remembers""" these , he feel more like he's being transported to this fake past and experimenting these moments as the person he is now rather than going back to the body and mind of the person he actually was when he lived at the ARK.
However,in rare ocassions, some songs, words or sensations might trigger real,non-manipulated memories, and the reason he can tell these are different from the rest is because he actually feels like he's the younger version of himself and remembers what he was thinking and feeling at the time.
Anyways, there you go! Again, these are all just the headcanons that i keep in mind when portraying these characters in fanart. I completely respect anyone who disagrees with these and i love to see other fanon takes on them.
thanks for the ask!
another sonic racing game except silver drives this

knuckles has a lot of depth and deals with a lot of lifelong grief and loneliness. he has dedicated his life to preserving and protecting the last pieces of his culture. he craves social interaction but fears others and what they may do to him or his island. he doesnt like being emotionally vulnerable. he gets bullied by a bat. he helps chao open chao fruit when theyre too hard to open with their little gummy mouths. he eats ants. he farms and makes his own clothes and loves finding treasures and knows several ancient languages. hes autistic as fuck. he gets a show and this is what you do to our boy. jail for ten million years
It's Friday, can we appreciate how cute Sonic was in ep 22 of Sonic X
Boy is wandering around exploring an island in a foreign country and sees a baker making some kind of food and he thinks it's the coolest thing and stops to watch

(pls he looks like a child watching a magic trick in that second image 🥹 he even does this whispered "wow!" in the Japanese and it's ADORABLE) 💙
And then later on he's walking around with a shopping bag and when Amy tells him about Cheese going missing, he tosses them the bag and is like "hold that for me, pls!" and runs off and then it shows what he'd bought and it's just

random knickknacks and snacks and a wooden spoon
I love when they show him like this, loving new things and exploring and askdkfmskdnms I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 💙
the first time sonic found a bunch of wild flowers that he though cream would love he was so excited to show them to her that he ran all the way to vanilla's house. but when he got there all the petals had been torn off by the wind. so now when he finds and picks flowers for her he takes his time making his way to her. walking, maybe some jogging. its a nice change of pace :)
i’m incredibly sensitive today so i can’t stop thinking about seemingly rude characters, who try so so so hard to push you away and keep you from prodding and picking at the walls that they’ve built around their hearts.
just characters who desperately try to appear distant and cold and mean and snippy, whose eyes are always hard to stare at you and whose lips are always pressed into a thin, firm line of apparent disinterest, despite the fact that they would agree to bleed instead of you without a second thought as soon as things start to go south — better yet, even before that.
my thoughts on Ais & love in the world of Touchstarved:
There’s these two quotes that I’ve seen floating around lately, I do not know who said this first one but the quote says, “to be loved is to be changed.”
The second quote are song lyrics from the Darkest Hour by Low Roar, and it goes, “It was love not hate/That made me hurt the thing/I truly love the most”
I feel the context of the first quote is supposed to be a positive thing, like love can change you for the BETTER. But I feel like in Touchstarved, for someone like Ais, someone who has done horrible things, someone who has been abandoned by his gang and has essentially been left to rot alone, I think love would embolden him to commit even more heinous actions - because he was a respected leader at one point of his life, he’ll probably operate from a place of thinking that he knows best and do things HIS way, a way that’ll be so off-the-wall insane, all to ensure our safety.
Anger and the need for dominance are the leading factors to Ais’s decision making skills(this could be part of the reason why his former gang left him but that’s for another post I have in the works). Ais already lost a gang before; if we get close to him, I think he’ll be more adamant about us staying with him because he “knows best”(this could be good OR bad news for us😭).
Like, we know NONE of these characters have healthy ways to express love and connection and intimacy(not even Kuras!) So with Ais already in a dark hole, desperately trying to claw himself out of whatever hell he is in, if love was a rope that was tossed down for him to use to climb out of inevitable destruction, I feel he would cling to that within an inch of his life - and protect that shit like an lifeline, like a dangerous dog clenching it’s most beloved possession within its jaws for comfort.
Once again, his fatal flaw is letting his emotions rule him to the point of ruin - no matter how hard he tries to suppress that side of him, things can start at zero and escalate to 257 for Ais. How anger & the desire for violence and dominance fuels him, I feel think feeling true love for the first time can motivate him even more. Despite his cool demeanor when we initially meet him, I feel he’s the type to love hard on the people most important to him but he’s gets so out of control with it because homeboy does NOT know how to properly regulate his emotions. He’s just wired to feel deeply - and that can lead to fatal consequences for everyone.

he honestly has a point
mhin wants nothing to do with you. leander is incredibly manipulative and elusive about his true intentions. kuras stays distant. and it's possible that vere knows that ais is losing control, which is why he still highlights the dangers of even the crimson-eyed soulless that ais has supposedly tamed.
vere is willing to work with you because his agenda is clear. his problem is obviously wanting to be freed.
his danger is clear: dont get eaten. he even WARNS YOU HIMSELF: "i ate two monsters three times your size. we may be alike. but don't forget what I am."
the funny thing is in the alley, there was nothing stopping him from quickly snapping your neck. you resist, and he stops. all he says is "Shame." and he backs off.
I like the idea that Ais isn’t actually power hungry. That he made his deal to try to contain Ocodeus, not work with him.
And it’s been taking a toll on him, and now he’s realizing he also doesn’t have the strongest grasp on Ocodeus anymore.
And that he did this to protect someone or something, and he genuinely wants to help people when he offers them to drink from the SeaSpring
soooooo my thoughts about The Unnamed/Ais/Ocudeus
Based on The Unnamed, I really hope we get to see a physical manifestation of a terrifying, eldritch Ocudeus. We can feel it’s energy pulsing beneath the city and throughout the wastelands until we reach the Seaspring. And then we feel it’s steady heartbeat in the water and we know something evil lurks beneath the depths of the Seaspring - it’s as if Ocudeus wants to pull us in. As if Ocudeus has always been there, waiting for us to arrive.
Also, since The Unnamed was mistakenly led to believe they were able to create Hiveminds with their curse then meets Ais who lords over a genuine Hivemind, I imagine a bad ending where an crazed Ais commands us or forces himself on our cursed hands to create, IDK, a super Hivemind in his warped mind. Self-indulgent thought here but it’ll be even more tragic if in his deluded state, Ais thinks being touched by our hands will induct him into a Hivemind where we’re bound together forever; similarly to how Ocudeus is in his head, Ais will be in our head, but that’ll only make matters worse :(
And it would be so fucking sad and true cosmic horror to see an angered Ocudeus emerge from the darkness of the Seaspring, using a half-dead or completely dead Ais as a puppet with its tentacles….
hrrmmm thinking about how we might meet Sen and/or Elyon in-game.
I assume that they're going to appear in the main game since they must be important characters if they're getting a dlc.. So I'm thinking of what role they'll have in each route or to what characters they're connected to.
Elyon.. With this post some of us assumed that Ais' "friend" from the brothel is Elyon, and if it does turn out to be true then what is their relationship? Is Ais just chill with him or is Elyon actually going to play a part on his route?
I think since he's a sketchy highborn, that he might appear on Leander's route (birds of a feather flock together). Maybe he's one of Mhin's many employers or has some ties with the Senobium, and could make an appearance in Vere's route? This man doesn't occupy my brain that often, but he's a major sketchy guy and I'd love to learn more about him
But Sen intrigues me the most, undead lovelies just call to me... The post introducing her mentions that she's searching for revenge and the cause of her own death... But revenge towards whom?
I assume it's one of our main game LIs because of my theory that the DLC characters are related to our guys, but just who or what could it be? Perhaps Sen's death has something to do with Kuras' regrets? Does she have something to do with the Seaspring? Wardens are like guardians, so what did she use to guard? She's such a vengeful lady I need to know more about her
ok so um I don't think MC's curse will be cured in (most of) the good endings
What lead me to believe this is when in the qna livestream, how it's mentioned that the themes in Touchstarved are based on being an outsider, someone who doesn't belong—a theme that many of us queer, poc, and/or trans people can resonate with—so it makes me think about how this ties together with the main character's curse.
the way our MC constantly condemns their curse reminds of how some queer, trans, and poc wish they weren't themselves. I'm latino, aromantic and a trans man; sometimes I've caught myself wishing I weren't the last two, that I didn't have to come out and endanger myself in order to feel comfortable, or that I could fall in love like the rest of my peers; sometimes I wish I could speak english more eloquently, I still remember when the girls at some summer camp in Florida would stare at me like I was a nasty bug. Despite trying not to think about them, insecurities about my identity are still there, and I understand wanting them gone, just like the MC wants their own curse to be cured.
I think MC finding themselves in yet another dead end, would attempt to try and keep living with their curse or that they would be presented with such an outlandish and harmful cure (e.g: the Seaspring) that they would be forced to question if it's really worth it. THEN AGAIN they could get it cured and they're happy and everyone is fine but I would like to see them question if it really is worth it to go this far, to lose themselves, or if it would be better to embrace it.
I was thinking, in Kuras’ character introduction in the press kit, it wrote. “ Kuras’s search for atonement drives him to EXTREMES- until your arrival.”
What could extreme possibly be defined as? Based on red spring studios post on how we only see him as adorable because he’s a doctor that cannot cook but not who he really or what horrible deeds he did in the full game. What extremity would he commit? Hmmmm…
Vague touchstarved theory. Vere's collar was put on him by someone who betrayed him—probably someone directly affiliated with the senobium. Kuras has old ties to the senobium, & if it were up to him Vere would've been put down a long time ago. Maybe there was someone who advocated for chaining him instead of killing him, in opposition of Kuras & in (merciful) betrayal of Vere?
I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s the deal with Vere’s collar.
The Alchemist MC can tell his collar is enchanted, so we know powerful magic is involved; possibly powerful magic even Leander can’t liberate Vere from if he wanted to(not like Vere wants his help anyway).
Also, it’s clear that Vere usually has a handler; he has a handler by his side when we first meet him. But he’s by himself just fine at the bar at the end of the demo, and it seems like he’s by himself in his tour guide post. So that could mean either two things to me:
1. Vere frequently escapes from his handler when he desires to cause havoc around Eridia but the enchanted collar limits the amount of damage he can enact
2. Vere doesn’t need to have an handler with him at all times because the enchanted collar restricts him to Eridia, which prevents him from escaping the city
If it’s point two, it could explain why he hasn’t visited Ais at the Seaspring; he couldn’t even if he wanted to, because the wastelands are out of bounds for him since the collar ties him permanently to Eridia.
I'm actually extremely fascinated by Fogfall bc it could have possible ties to the Wild Hunt, which was an omen for disaster— which MC was a victim of [The Soulless, bandages unraveling].
I wonder if Fogfall operates like the Wild Hunt in that those who witness it will face misfortune of some sort.
it does seem to have ties to the wild hunt [at least at first glance] in my mind too, but i haven't thought too deeply about fogfall itself yet. i think it plays a significant role in all the routes, tbh- it's the most mystical thing we encounter first; before the soulless, before the curse- first and foremost, we encounter the fogfall. it's notably why the world is the way it is. i think it's the origin of many things (the soulless, the monsters, the magic in the world)- but, to be fair, we haven't got a good idea of what the world was like before the fogfall as far as i know at the moment.
I've seen theories about leander and fogfall, and it could tie into the fact that leander has named his gang the bloodhounds (well known for being hunting dogs, though i find it fascinating that bloodhounds are better known for being leash hounds than pack hounds- even going so far as to prefer hunting alone then together even while in a pack. but that's an entirely different matter.)
i think the fogfall will play a significant role in terms of origin on kuras' route. i think we'll get a clearer image of the world before fogfall through vere's route. potentially fogfall as a bigger image, large image pov, will be attained through ais' route, while we'll get a glimpse of smaller people pov through mhin, and a society images (kind of a middle sized image pov) through leander's route.
if the fogfall acts as a wild hunt, i wonder if it's a matter of apocalypse or limbo for the world. some versions of the wild hunt are heralded by angels (kuras?). are the souls of those caught turned into hunters, or are the soulless born of something else entirely? does mc have magic because they're a hunter, or because they were successfully hunted?
hmm. so many thoughts o3o
