Hmmmm.... well played, anon. This is something I have never considered. I feel like the show sets us up to like the golden girl, Jinora. She gets the most plot points and helps Korra numerous times through the use of her spirit powers. But! I actually think that scene where Ikki manipulates those Earth Empire soldiers made her stand out in an interesting way.
See, in season three, we watch Tenzin fail at being even the slightest bit persuasive while they are trying to recruit new airbenders. It's literally comical. To the point where it even explains why he was constantly steamrolled by Tarrlok when he was a councilman.
Thus, I feel like this may actually hint that Ikki got this from her mother Pema, which is funny given the whole Linzin debacle. So, I am actually most curious about Ikki, especially since she is picked on by Meelo and Jinora and portrayed as a bit of the black sheep.
This is supposed to be a kind of Medieval AU, for some reason Pema must be taken care of by "an acquaintance of her husband."
That the "acquaintance" is really a low-profile lady with her own motives is another story.
When Tenzin told his sister that he will look into his own affairs, he didn't mean that he would go after his (not at all unmatched) ex✨

One of the reasons why I generate rejection towards Pema is how flat she seems to me, so in this exercise of improving our relationship I am going to load her with HC and rewrite.
Maybe put her in an AU or two? The fast way is to ship her to Lin, but I'm a derailed wagon, I brake, it's already midnight and I drooled over at least three other couples for my lady 😮💨
