May I Request Something? Lately I Feel Burnout And Somehow Lost Motivation To Do Things After Lost My

Commandant of Grey Raven,

I have received your message well.

I am coming to you, firstly as the leader, to express my deepest gratitude for your support and assistance to the Strike Hawk team.

Secondly, Commandant, as of late, I have not heard of you, active, for a while, and that got me worried. But, to receive a message from you I was beyond relief, and so was Kamui.

In fact, I am happy you seek me for assistance, and you are never a burden to me, Commandant.

Reading your message, I could only express my condolences for your loss, Commandant. I understand that it must be hard for you, hence, not hearing much from you for a while is reasonable.

If I may also point out, the lack of motivation, perhaps, you are experiencing an extended period of grief ?

Ah! Please, forgive me if I am getting ahead of myself.

Unlike humans, constructs might not be able to understand the complex emotions and feelings that humans do in a flexible way. But, we do understand the extent of how you feel.

I think it is natural for humans to express sadness. From my experience from witnessing others, keeping it all inside doesn't seem optimal, and I fear you would commit the same painful mistakes, Commandant.

If it comes in a form of vent, a release of emotions, or even just wanting company around, I will gladly be there for you. For, I want to stay by your side and to assist you to the fullest. It would be a huge shame to not have a great Commandant like you.

Even if I am not your construct like the Grey Ravens, I wish to be of use to you and support you. As, how you have supported and cared for us, Strike Hawk.

I don't mind waiting for you.

Please, Commandant. Your orders?

-Chrome

COMMUNICATION ENDED...

*************************

(( Hello, thank you for sending your message, and thank you for your encouraging kind words.

I am sorry that you are going through such a painful time. And, I completely understand how you feel.

It must be hard to lose your will to do things that you once love doing or just anything in general. This is usually linked with grief.

Please don't feel silly to feel this certain way. Grief is a tough emotion to go through. And, I think that you are still able to take the initiative to reach out for support proves that you are still standing strong. And, that's really impressive.

So, don't beat yourself up. Take as much time as you want and need to heal. As times goes, it will become less and less difficult. Like Chrome said, he will wait for you. :)

Beginnings

If It's Alright With You, Can I Request For A Chrome X Reader (angst, Then Fluff)? It Depends On You

Chrome x Commandant/reader

Summary:

Being a construct, time was never truly an essences. Their sense of time could be calculated by era; they judge by having endings and new beginnings.

But when it comes to you, Chrome had a hard time maintaining the sense of time.

If It's Alright With You, Can I Request For A Chrome X Reader (angst, Then Fluff)? It Depends On You

Beginnings are the inevitable that comes after and before endings. To a construct like, Chrome. What defines as a 'Beginning' is simply an era.

In the beginning, his name was Langston Smith. Taken in, by no other than one of the Officers in Babylonia, John Smith.

During that time, Langston strive to be the perfect Smith, a goal that was and still, ingrained into his mind; the sole purpose of his drive. From adolescence into adulthood, he worked hard to achieve this ultimate goal.

Joining the F. O. S Military Command College, to be one of the best Commandants in Babylonia's newly established Commandant and Construct program. It came with a cost, and he failed.

By then, after the failure to meet his father's expectation, Chrome chose the path of becoming a construct. It's the least that he could do to make his father proud.

Thus, the era of Langston Smith ended. His life as a construct, Chrome, began.

Yet, it wasn't an easy path, the turbulence of his journey of being a construct was hard for him. Many didn't take him seriously, his father, 'Mr. Smith' was still monitoring and intervening his way into success.

Til the day that Chrome was assigned to be the Captain of Strike Hawk, has this difficult journey came to an end. His hardship ended with him reaching his own epiphany, as to ask, what does it mean to be himself, Chrome.

With an end of that era, a new beginning began.

For Chrome, he had thought this particular era would be stagnant for a long while.

Working with countless of commandants, this era was rather, in comparison, mundane. You, were no exception.

Just another Commandant, but of an elite status. Although, you have began to make a name for yourself in the base. There were stories about you; this includes Kamui's account and the many achievements that you have done.

To have a chance to work with you, Chrome felt fortunate. The experience gave him insights. Chrome see areas in his leadership skills that were lacking.

His plans always goes disarray at some point with unpredictable variables, Kamui is another problem. His team didn't necessarily achieve the unity that it should.

But, he sees how you communicate with your constructs. How much trust and bond bounded the team together in order to execute the mission so efficiently and flawlessly. This is what makes the Grey Ravens the most elite squad in Babylonia.

The perfect Commandant and Construct team.

A feat that is not easy, and that you had managed to master it.

Deep down, Chrome knew you held something special. He, himself, couldn't help but to fall under your charisma and trust.

Infatuated, his sense of time ceased.

One day he asked, "Commandant, is there something that you always wanted in life?"

You looked at Chrome, a little confused by his question. There was an urge to be playful about it, however, seeing his serious facial expression. You gave your answer a good hard thought.

"Well..." you began, "Mankind has not reclaimed earth back yet... I think winning the war would be a model answer."

Chrome nodded and listened as you continued, "... But, if you were to ask me, personally, I think living a normal life in peace with a family... is a pretty good thing to want. A world with no war, to be with your loved ones."

Your answer was humanistic. Full of raw desire, and Chrome understood that. To you, it might seems like a light hearted matter, but Chrome took your answer to heart. He wanted to help you achieve this dream.

As the days on the battlefield became frequent, and times were growing harder. Chrome never left your side and fought side by side with the Grey Ravens.

Everyday, he sees you and each battle won was a step taken closer to your dream. Everyday, you work hard for the future that you desire, yet as the battles dragged on, your results was slowly in decline.

You smile less. You start to tell less jokes. Whenever you were traversing through a long distance in the battle field, you need to stop for a rest.

When Chrome came up to you to ask you about your well being, looking up to smile at him you replied, "yeah, I am alright..." He would notice small amount of wrinkles forming around your eyes.

The clock within moved forward, yet his remained still.

His mind was still set of your desire, it never occurred to Chrome that your dreams were slowly taking form in another way.

He the heard news about you. You found a person, a life partner to be with. Chrome will admit, it was not the best time to do that, but everyone was happy for you and he figured, he should too.

So, he fought harder. He stood next to you, loyal and devoted. In his eyes you were still the great Commandant of Grey Raven Squad that he adores. Although, he never took the time to notice how much you, and how fast it was, you have changed.

You attend less field work. You no longer have a genuine cheerfulness, for you begin to lose your loved ones. You frequent the medical bay more often. During mornings, you needed to take more supplements and medication. Yet, you still remained in Babylonia, offering your service.

Until, the day you left the base.

The last time, Chrome saw you. He was visiting on behalf of the Babylonia Team. You were already too weak to walk, body frail and face full of wrinkles, your hair were grey.

On the hospital bed, you looked up at the construct.

One's clock was ticking, yet, another was still.

"Commandant, it's been a long while..." Chrome said.

"Chrome! It's good to see you again! No need for formalities, I am not a commandant anymore," despite smiling, Chrome can see you were tired.

A small figure shuffled beside you, and Chrome took notice. He lifted his gaze and saw a little boy seated right across from him. The child's face was beet red, bashful and shy with this stranger talking to his grandparent.

"Haha... you are here at the right time, Chrome. My grandson was just asking me about Babylonia..." You turned to look at your grandson and continued, "he said, he wanted to join one day."

"Is that so... Then I will be looking forward when that day comes," Chrome smiled at the child.

As the conversation continued, there was a pressing question in the back of Chrome's mind.

Giving it a good though, he held the courage and asked, "... Are you happy?"

You looked at Chrome, giving him same expression from years ago.

You were a little confused by his question. There was an urge to be playful about it, however, seeing his serious facial expression, you sighed and giggle.

"Haha... Of course I am!" you replied.

"But..." Chrome said, "Your dream... you said you wanted to-"

Your cheerful voice cut him off, "That was years ago. I have already forgotten about that. Because, those things are already in the past. Now is now. Right now, I am happy." You turned to look at your grandson and gentle patted his head.

Looking at you, the image of you that Chrome saw was still the great Commandant of Grey raven. Young and robust.

However, to hear your answer, as if a switch had turned on, Chrome's sense of time began to tick.

The image turned and suddenly, in front of him was a human that was once a great Commandant. He never realised how little time your era was left.

"Thank you for everything, Chrome."

Just like that, the day after his visit, you slipped away peacefully.

Every era has to end.

"Greetings, Strike Hawk. I am your newly assigned commandant," a young man said. He was wearing a commandant uniform and stood straight and tall in front of Chrome and the rest of his team.

Judging from his age and attitude, he had freshly graduated from F. O. S. Now he is taking the duty of a commandant in Babylonia. To get to met Strike Hawk so soon in his career, he must be a top graduate.

"Oh!? We got a newbie?!" Kamui said.

"A commandant?" Wanshi yawned, "... Do we really need to have a babysitter?"

Fluster the young man remain standing straight. Not letting the comments get to him. However, his face turned slightly beet red from the embarrassment. Despite, Kamui and Wanshi poking fun at him, the new commandant was determined to be the perfect commandant for Strike Hawk.

"You know, being part of an elite team is no walk in the park," Wanshi teased.

"I know that. I know there are many great dangers to be part of this team. But, I have a dream..."

This boy looked familiar. As he gave his answer. It sound like yours.

Chrome stay quiet as he listened. While Wanshi and Kamui had fun interrogating the new candidate, Chrome smiled to himself, letting out a sigh he said, "Kamui, Wanshi, now is not the time to ask questions. Hurry up and greet our commandant."

"Yes, Captain." both of them stepped back and replied.

Holding his arm out, Chrome shook the new commandant's hand, "Greetings, I am Chrome. Captain of Strike Hawk. I am looking forward to working with you."

Maybe this is a beginning. A new beginning to an new era.

Author's note:

I personally find it hard to write concepts, but it's a good challenge never the less. :3 I am sorry there isn't much fluff in this. I thought angst + fluff = bittersweet. ;w; which now that I think about it doesn't seem right.

Also, writing this encouraged me to max out his Affection lvl, and oh Boi... 😳😳😳

Many people do not like taking overtime because of how taxing it could be. However, to you, overtime might be the thing you need to catch up with all the paperwork on your desk.

It was a few hours before midnight, you poured yourself a cup of water.

After filling up your cup, you exited the dark pantry. The base has officially entered the after hour mode, and your colleagues, almost everyone was nowhere to be found.

The corridor was dimly lit by the emergency lights as you walk pass door after door. Tonight was special. There is a Bonfire festival happening in the Central Plaza in Babylonia. Everyone went.

Even your contructs, Lucia, Lee and Liv attedned. The three even got you a ticket. Despite so, you declined their offer, and gave it to Kamui instead.

"There are more important matters to deal with right now," you told yourself, "Maybe next year..."

There was a feeling of regret for your decision, although you were use to it.

Sometimes, sacrifices has to be made.

Gazing down at the floor, you walk a little aimlessly. Your mind wandered about, thinking about all the unnesscary stressor around you.

Instinctively, you made your way back to the door of your room.

"Commandant of Grey Raven," a familiar voice spoke up.

You jolted out from your train of thought, and saw Chrome standing in front of you. Quickly, you turned to face him, and greeted him tiredly, "Oh, Chrome! Hello..."

"I thought you were going to the Bonfire Festival with your team,"Chrome said, "I know Kamui went."

“About that," you began, "Kamui went because I have him my ticket. I am too busy with work to attend. What about you? Why didn't you join the others?"

You question seems to caught Chrome off guard. If it weren't for the lights, the tint on his cheeks would have been more apparent. Embarassed and flustered by his situtation, Chrome could only give you the gist of his predicament.

"I was invited by 'Mr Smith' to attend the festival," he continued, “but I declined.”

You gave Chrome a nodded, gesturing you understood what he meant.

“I prefer using this time to do something else I find meaningful,” Chrome confessed. Now that he has calmed, his voice spoke in a stern tone.

"Like what?" You asked him. Your face showed genuine curiousity.

There was a moment of silence between them. The construct had a stern and indiffernt look on his face. Yet, with his hands behind his back, his fingers fidgeted with a small plastic container, as well as hiding the baking stains on his sleeves.

Chrome was a little speechless. For, there was something in his M. I. N. D that he want to say. But didn't have the courage to say.

"... I prefer to use this time to spend getting tomorrow's briefs and reports ready..."He gave you a model, yet, generic answer.

Hearing his answer, you nodded and gave a small smile, "I get it. When you are too busy, you just can't seem to find time to do something else." you said understandingly.

Before Chrome had the chance to reply, you beat him to it, and walked back into your room.

"Well, I'll see you around, have a good night," you said.

The automatic door closed as soon as you entered.

Chrome was left all alone. He could only watch you leave. He could not mutter a single word of protest. He really wanted to, but his sense of duty as a construct stopped him.

Fingers continued to play the plastic container. He finally took it out from his back, and looked at the small piece of cake. The whipped cream was starting to melt.

It was a planned gift for you. A small refreshment, hoping it could lead to something more.

Without a word, Chrome head back to his room. Throwing the cake away in the bin, as he walked along the corridor.

"Next time..." He said to himself.

Author's Notes:

This is a long time coming... I am so sorry to the person who requested this.

This fic with Chrome has been in my mind for a very long time. Like, when I first made this blog. I originally want to make it long because.....

But after a very long pondering, and covid :'), I decided less is more.
