Found this bird nest in the little hundred acre wood.

I noticed that it was 6pm and it was still light out. A beautiful pink and blue evening sky. And a full moon.

It was warm today. High of 77°. When only Saturday it had been in the 20's. Saw a butterfly and wondered where she had been hiding for the past two weeks.

The peepers in the pond were singing tonight too.

A false Spring. It will get cold again.

I don't usually dye anything in February.

February is a stagnant month for me. It's too cold. There isn't much change. Everything is grey. And dye plants are scarce. August is my other least favorite month. And interesting that they are 6 months apart.

But I want to use this chunky yarn soon. I decided on yellow onions because, well, that's what I got!

I tossed some cotton into the pot too. I was surprised at how the cotton took up the color more than the yarn. With an alum and cream of tartar mordant no less!

The yarn is alpaca. I have a feeling sheep wool would have been a bit more dramatic of a color change.
