Fabric Art - Tumblr Posts

An older project, but one I still love!
A family member taught me how to quilt, and so far I have done everything with the new skills but make a quilt. But quilted jacket panels are a go!
This was was also vaguely NADDPOD inspired! I was originally going to paint some lyrics from one big bed on the yoke but I'm not confident in my lettering skills lol
(don't ask to see the inside its a disaster)
Art is how we decorate space and music is how we decorate time.

Pattern by Pride and Joy Quilting. I darkened the skin tones and added trim to make braids.

Picturesque~

she’s finished!!
fossil frenzy cowl by hunt hand knits, made with locally dyed merino. probably took me less than two weeks and definitely the most fun i’ve had with a project in a long time

We closed on Tuesday and so now the little house in the big peanut field is ours.
I didn't notice it before, but we have pomegranates. And two big fig trees. Pomegranate and fig make good dyes.
It was meant to be.

I've had this little Amish shelf tucked away in a box for a few years. While unpacking it today, an idea struck me. Maybe dress the little shelf up a bit. So I made a tiny quilt to give it life.

The first blue star block.
I've had this quilt in my head for a few weeks now. My first time with the traditional Ohio Star block. I'm calling this one my blue star quilt.
This is the lightest blue I'm using of all the blues I've pulled for this quilt. It's more of a dark medium. Then I thought varying light color background units would add interest.
We've been having lows in the 40s. The leaves are starting to respond.

Happy Halloween all 🎃 I finally finished this wip from last year. I guess I was holding out for just the right hanger... literally. Off to celebrate. I love Halloween 👻

I was thinking about a series of hoop drawings involving whimsical forms, but I think I will put them on the back burner for a while longer.

I went on my walk tonight and was fascinated by the long leaf pine bark. I came home and sketched out my thoughts, then began to stitch. I will stay with nature forms for a while, since that is what's speaking to me now.

I don't usually dye anything in February.
February is a stagnant month for me. It's too cold. There isn't much change. Everything is grey. And dye plants are scarce. August is my other least favorite month. And interesting that they are 6 months apart.
But I want to use this chunky yarn soon. I decided on yellow onions because, well, that's what I got!
I tossed some cotton into the pot too. I was surprised at how the cotton took up the color more than the yarn. With an alum and cream of tartar mordant no less!
The yarn is alpaca. I have a feeling sheep wool would have been a bit more dramatic of a color change.

Moondance. Embroidery and applique on blueberry dyed cotton.
Another rainy, very grey February day. Starting to look forward to Spring 🌱
My current felting project: The Bug Jacket ™
This isn’t the final product, I’m planning on decorating it a lot more, but I thought I’d post it for feedback!

Fellow fabric artists, can you relate?!?
Words of encouragement to grow beyond our fear and doubt.

Our first origami bag workshop finally took place after the national quarantine at France. Respecting all sanitary measures, our members still experimented and created their own styles. Keep healthy everyone and hope to see you soon.
