Pyro Characters - Tumblr Posts
amber
……ooooops! Sorry about forgetting these, I’m still getting used to posting on the reg!
Let’s get into this!
Soon after the player completed the movement tutorials in the beginning of the game, they encounter Amber, the best (albeit only) outrider of the Knights of Favonius. She comes from Monstadt, which she takes you to after questioning you. (This is where you say Paimon is emergency food trust me). Here’s her portrait:
Amber as a playable character… I don’t particularly like her. She’s a long range, which is an immediate no-go for me, and, although she is a pyro character, she’s not quite as good as she’s made out to be. Her normal attack requires a ridiculously long charge-up to be a pyro attack, her elemental burst is literally just a bomb that, while doing quite a bit of damage, is only useful if your opponents haven’t noticed you, since the bomb takes time to go off and by that time, you’ve taken the fight to a different place. Lastly, her elemental skill is only useful, again, if your opponents haven’t noticed you. It stays in the same place, dealing constant damage and putting the pyro effect on anything inside the circle. The problem is that the circle doesn’t move, so if you activate her skill and continue to fight, your opponents will exit the circle one way or another, meaning that the skill is basically useless after five seconds out of its total runtime of around a minute. Her elemental skill also takes a while to charge up.
All in all, while Amber is not my favorite character, she is important to multiple quests the player had to complete throughout the first few parts of the game. If you are a very patient person who likes sneak attacks and long range fighting, then maybe Amber is the character for you. However, I despise playing her myself, since I play best in close combat, and therefore/also need elemental bursts and skills to be ready to use much faster.
