Leslie is so infuriated by Bruces vigilanteism but is equally so proud of when Batman saves innocent lives. The cognitive dissonance is jarring and often she struggles to express that to him without lecturing him on stoking the escalation of crime in the city. She just worries, Bruce. She hates having to piece him and his children back together again but will do it every time.
Leslie practically lived at the manor for a period of time after Thomas and Martha died, helping Alfred adjust and to also be there for her Godson who she needed to hold as much as he needed to be held. It was a difficult time for them both. Bruce is the closest thing Leslie has had to a son and she loves him dearly.
"The works fine. I enjoy it... It's fulfilling." She shook her head slightly dismissing the idea, lip curling at the compliment. Bruce was sweet when he wanted to be. Leslie just appreciated him dropping by, a rare occurrence these days given how busy he was.
"I don't know." Leslie mused. "I go to work. And then I go home. If I'm lucky, neither you or any of your brood need patching up - which is a double edged sword seeing as that's the only time I really see any of you at the moment..." There was admonishment in her tone, though it wasn't not unkind. She understood why.
"It gets a little lonely sometimes." Leslie admitted quietly.

Open starter.
“I had a client today ask me if I’m happy.” Leslie began, swirling the amber liquid in the bottom of her glass. “I didn’t answer, of course. Professional boundaries and what have you.”
She took a sip, savouring the flavour, the burn of it at the back of her throat. “But still. It did make me wonder.”
“Well, if you’re not happy than why do you still work?” Bruce asked. “There are a million things you can do and be amazing at.” He took a small slip of his drink.
“Then here’s the question; Are you happy?”
"Oh." Her hand covered Bruces much larger one. When did he get so big? "I understand. I'm not blaming you. And your kids all have lives of their own."
"Alfred?" And hadn't that ship already sailed? Surely that opportunity had passed her by by now. "Last we spoke he seemed far too busy."

Bruce looked down at his glass. “I know. I’m sorry I haven’t been around more when I’m not bleeding,” he sighed. Did Alfred feel this way too? Bruce wasn’t sure. “Is there anything I can do?” He asked her.
He took another pull form his drink. “I do know a nice English butler who wouldn’t mind taking you out on a date.”
"Don't be too hard on yourself, Bruce dear." And she squeezed his hand. The last thing she had meant in her confession was to make him feel guilty. Perhaps she should have kept it to herself.
No. She reminded herself. Sharing is healthy. Allowing people to show up for you is important.
"Of course he does. We've known eachother for years." People grew fond of eachother of course. He cared for her Leslie was sure. Loving and being in love, however were two different things. "The stubborn man wouldn't know how what rest looked like if it hit him square in the face."

He turned his hand over and held hers, like he did as a child so long ago. “I know, but I should make time for those who matter to me.” Bruce barely made time for himself.
Bruce huffed out a small laugh. “Alfred will always say he’s busy. But, that doesn’t mean its not true.” he took another drink. “He loves you, you know.”
Leslie raised an amused eyebrow. "You only had a lot going on as a kid? That's changed, has it?"
She shook her head. Bruce had been a child during the period where they had danced aid eachother. The odd moment that could have become something more but never did. "No Bruce. If you've managed to finally convince him to take a vacation the last thing he'll need is to see me. Let the man enjoy his peace."

Leslie's eyes widened. "You-"
But of course he had. The boy had more money than sense at times. And yet Leslie couldn't find it in herself to do more than shake her head in fond exasperation.
"And does Alfred know about this?"

He looked over at her. “What would you say if I already paid for you both to go?” Smirking at Leslie he couldn’t wait to see her face when he told her that. “You both need some time off.”
