Alright, let's start from the beginning
My name is R. M. Renfield and for the past however long I have been Whitby's one and only Spider-Man. I assume you know the rest
Day 7 has finally arrived, for it I just decided to draw something for everyone, a Renfield plushie.
Alongside with that I have some other doodles, some even containing OCs, hope you won't mind!
Now that it's all outta the way (I may be late due to timezones), I wanted to say something before I conclude things.
Happy Anniversary to the movie that I think might have saved my life, a movie I originally watched for fun back in October for Halloween that eventually became a comfort film of mine, and IDC what articles and critics tell me.
To everyone who reblogged, liked, and also participated during this week with me, thank you, all of you. And I hope to draw Renfield again once I am finished with other things, but until then, hope to hear from all of you later. <3

Side notes!: - I only added a lullaby in Renfield's playlist to represent the fact that he used to have a daughter in the 2023 film! -Expect some Castlevania here and there, I've also been getting back into that as well -I got inspiration from other Tumblr Users' playlists and headcanons! So expect some similarities on these each! Hope I don't have trashy music taste. ; - ;
Now that Ren has died I may have the motivation to finish that piece I started brainstorming a couple months ago. I was waiting for the Dracula Daily readers to get to that point before continuing, so I could post it in those tags. It’s just a matter of finding the time to do so…
It only took me a month, but I finally finished my portrait of Renfield! (:
I haven't been able to draw as often as I'd like to, with school and work, but I have a new Curse of Strahd campaign to make art for, and my literature class is bound to give me some inspiration eventually. (: Sadly I had to rush this towards the end, and I think it shows, but I don't think this is the worst thing I've made, and now I have stuff to keep in mind for later pieces.

You know, thinking about it more, I'm actually most surprised with how Van Helsing handled the Renfield situation. The love and respect he has for Jack are actually the only reasons I am willing to accept his actions in his entry, because without that, it would seem kind of OOC.
Because Renfield basically just said "I can't tell you why right now, I would if I could, but I'm begging you, please believe me that my intentions are good and I am only asking this for the sake of others." And that's exactly what Van Helsing said to Jack, Arthur, and Quincy for the duration of the "we need to kill undead Lucy" arc. And I think Van Helsing realized that parallel, I think that's why he was addressing him "as an equal," as Jack put it.
But ultimately, he did not take the leap of faith he asked others to. To be fair, the circumstances were a bit different, but all the same...it's quite unforunate.
On the flip side, I'm not surprised with Jack's response at all, even if I am frustrated by it. Dr. Seward is The Observer of the group, he's extremely good at absorbing nearly every detail and compiling it. But when it comes to synthesizing that data, he sticks to finding patterns in previous observations and using them as a predictive model. And that's exactly what he did here with Renfield—he saw parallels between how Renfield was acting here and how he acted when he wanted a cat, and responded accordingly. The internal logic there was completely sound.
Where Dr. Seward so often falls short is making conclusions that require you to step outside of that set framework of data, and that's something Van Helsing has repeatedly called him out on throughout the "we need to kill undead Lucy" arc. Unforunately, that kind of reasoning was the only hope Renfield had here, because he could not provide Seward the data he needed to make the correct conclusion his usual way.

In addition to wrestling Dracula to try and save Mina, Renfield indirectly ended up helping the team with the hunt for Dracula's missing boxes of dirt bc while they would have noticed that several boxes were missing at Carfax during their search, they never would have been able to track them down, or at least not easily and quickly, if Renfield hadn't escaped from his room to try and kill the two men who had been hired to move them back in September, as that incident was what had lead to Patrick Hennessey having to record their names, addresses, and employer in the report left for Seward while he was busy with Lucy, which was then included in the manuscript compiled by Mina, and then Jonathan used that information to track down the two men and the locations of the missing boxes; otherwise, no one would have noticed their removal early on, or known where to start looking for them.
