Some people say making all romanceable BG3 companions pansexual was "for commercial reasons". I think there was an idea behind it:

Whoever you are, you can be loved and cherished.

It doesn't matter who the main character is in terms of gender, species and race (or race and subrace in game terms), they have a chance to be loved. A comfort for traumatized souls.

Imagine a person start playing the game where they know there is romance with companions, trying to flirt with someone they like and being rejected. It would be heartbreaking. And it is not the game easily replayed, my first playthrough took 200 hours.

What I want to say is... Thank you, Larian Studios, for this masterpiece of a game. There is nothing like it, and I doubt there will ever be.
