Riza is finding the return to Ishval even more challenging than she had expected. A post-canon, Royai slowburn, Riza-centric character study for the Royai Big Bang 2024. COMPLETE, and posted in its entirety on October 3rd. :)

above is a moodboard for my royai big bang fic, overcome - the "vibes" of the fic, if you will, as a kickoff to the promo week for @royaibigbang since January, all of the writers, artists, beta readers and moderators involved in the @royaibigbang have been working diligently, and after nine months we finally get to share all of our hard work with you! On October 3rd, my fic will be posted (utterly complete, in all its 100k+, angsty, slow-burn glory), including some beautiful art pieces incorporating moments from the fic by @chewytran, @olvitier, @awesomedurraworld, @lewdybooty and @ventifrappa. Everyone else involved in the big bang will be posting their art and fics on October 3rd, so be sure to check everyone's amazing work and bask in all the wonderful royai goodness! 1. What was the most fun thing about the event?

the most fun thing about the event… hmmm that is a hard question, but I think it is just a HUGE mix of meeting people I look up to and admire their work ( artists and authors ) and getting to know them, PLUS I was able to work with my idols which is a big deal haha. I got to draw many great scenes and now I have a very beautiful community that I wouldn't have if I had taken a chance and signed up in the event 🙂‍↕️🩷🩷 ( I love you big bang group )

2. Okay so, Royai - it all started when my brother was nagging me to read Fma’s manga, but I was just wasn't pulled ( anime wasn't a thing that I liked ), so as a bonding activity, My brother and I started to watch brotherhood. RIGHT at their ( Royai’s ) first appearance I looked at my brother:

“ tell me they are married.”

“ no they aren't,”

“ dating?”

” 🤷🏻‍♂️”

After the Nina episode, I was just disgusted and didn't want to finish the anime, but he promised me that they would kiss at the end. So yeah haha throughout the whole thing, I just kept shipping them hard and my love grew over each episode 🩷

3. Favorite thing to draw? Honestly, the joy I had of just drawing these two over and over is one of my favorite things haha I loved coloring Riza’s hair and doing Roy’s eyes. Each piece had its favorite parts and difficulties The most challenging parts- I would just give a few hints.

Hands, lighting on some arts, RIZA’S LIPS. And a hug between two females ( I won't spoil. ) and just after taking so many projects, drawing became a challenge, I just literally handed the last project’s arts last Thursday 😭

This event has been a blessing, I can't even thank @royaibigbang for organizing this 💋

What got you into Royai!?!

i just answered that one, but this might give me a chance to talk more about how I got more on the royai train

I think one main thing was reading everyone headcanons after I finished the anime. I just was so hungrily looking for kiss I was robbed out of 😂 ( mind you that day was a really bad day so it became extra ✨🫨)

Headcanons were a huge part, but also how beautifully everyone drew them and wrote them. Royai low-key reminds me of my parents in a way? Not sure how or the why but I think this is a reason. I started loving them more and doodling them in my journal and developing headcanon about them and yeah here we are 🫶🏻

Roy and Riza all the way haha, I love my sillies and I always loved doodling them in my journal and my small notebook, so I knew I had to apply as an artist for the event

In the event I had the chance to draw them happy, sad, angsty and so much more!! I worked hard on the drawings and I hope you guys enjoy the Royai that will come 🥺🩷

What did you enjoy the most about drawing for the Big Bang?

Definitely adding some headcanons through out my drawings! Of how Roy and Riza look like- well Mostly Roy, he is the one that I added few things that aren't canon to him - like a Mole under his eye and giving him blue eyes instead of Black ones and so on!!

Roy and Riza are my babies and I am so happy I got the chance to draw them over and over heheh

“Well if they're not peonies, pray tell, what are they?” he asks.

“I think they're carnations, which represent everlasting love.” Rebecca holds one of the stems between her fingers and inhales deeply. “They don't smell like much.”

“I still say they're peonies. I grew up in a house full of women. I would know.” Roy can imagine what Chris would say if she heard him utter those words, as vividly as he can imagine Riza rolling her eyes at him.

“You must not have learned anything from them,” Rebecca snipes back.

I am so excited as well!!! Oh my god, I truly hope that you enjoy this event as much as I enjoyed working hehe

OKAY what Am I cooking? Uh so the funny story is, when I applied for the event in December It was during my gap year and I was pretty free so I think I signed up that I am able to draw 12+ drawings, and tbh I never thought I’d make it to the event at all!! At first I was only assigned to one project and I sketched around 14 drawings I think, and in May I ended up taking three more projects

In total I cooked 45 artworks!! 12 which made it to the final cut haha

i will post more sneak peeks of my art so stay tuned 👀

my least favorite Royai trope- gotta be the whole Roy can't think and is idiot 100% of the time and Riza has to baby sit him 24/7

This should be my very least favorite. I just dislike it when people make it as if that is all what they are - like I don't have anything against their facade ( its smart.) , but I hate it so much when people make it as if it was their personality. + I just HATE it when people make Riza shoot Roy all the time?? Like?? Why would a woman who agreed to do follow a man to HELL DO THAT???

Tips to meet deadlines and work with artists/writers/beta-readers on such a big project? Since you're on so many different projects within the big bang

And then what are your favorite and least favorite royai tropes?

Okay so the only reason why I was able to create so many art pieces was because of Emma - honestly that woman is a god sent angel. More than once she was super understanding and supportive, sending me encouragement and was just the best mod I could ever ask for ( love you Emma muah ) Another thing that helped me was communicating with my authors and getting know what they wanted! They gave me their outline / whole fic to read and choose scenes to draw. I would draw concepts and simple sketches and get the okay from them before finishing the final sketches. I also found that working on one project at a time was helpful, trying to find as much as references that suited the vibes and the fic and what I was aiming for was also a hugely important thing.

Maybe it was also having so many sketches ready for me to use. one project that I was working on i had around 6 sketches ready and outlined but due to some personal things I was able only to finish 3 - so that is a huge help if that makes sense? ( am I making sense ) 😭

i also would say that trying to work on a drawing at least once a day, even if it was fixing a color or drawing a box- as long as I worked on a drawing, I would feel less stressed about getting them done

Already addressed my least favorite trope, but my favorite- this is a hard one haha, but I would say I love good strong masculine and strong feminine energy- like I adore it when they make Roy protective in his man-ly way and Riza has that female rage and I don't know how to explain it without sounding sexist ( 😭😭😭) but I just love how they see each other as equals and yet how they just love each other so much and how they fit together and support each other beautifully and doing their roles and being the supportive system to each other

Like I love Riza who loves wearing a skirt and is ready to kill for her husband who is wearing a suit and will commit crimes for his wife

So, firstly I hope you guys know that I still am angry at my brother for doing that dirty trick, its been 3 ( almost 4 🤯) years since that, and I still give him the side eye whenever Fma is brought up Bahaha

As for my favorite thing about Royai.… hmmmmmmmmmm…. If I were just going to choose one randomly, I would say that how much they trust each other. Riza trusted Roy with the flame alchemy secrets, she trusted him enough to stand naked as he studied her tattoo. Roy trusts her to kill him if he ever just strayed out of line.

I just love how they both understand each other and devote themselves to each other, he promised her a better country and she promised to have his back unless he just wasn't doing the right thing.

I feel like the more I talk about them the more I find myself not finding my right words to express my ideas so sorry about that 😅

Least favorite part about them is how they probably just don't see themselves having a life outside their master suicide plan 🤷🏻‍♀️ I want them to get married and build a house in the country and grow flowers and make jam and pie and read books and sleep by the fireplace haha

I will probably the only one from the event who says that they like Royai as the Elrics’ parents or as parents in general 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love the trope of them being a found family ( with the whole team ) I love them when they take care of someone together and they realize like that yes they want to do that in their life and maybe life isn't bad and they can have babies together

Royai to me is more than just slamming each other to the wall ( that is hot ) but also love them in a domestic setting 🫠

Can't think of anything I hate about then that I didn't address in my past answers so yay

I am a pretty boring person, I honestly can't see myself adding a third person romantically in their dynamic what so ever, I’ve seen lots of people adding Havoc, Lust, Kimblee into the mix, and while yes I might see the vision but it is not just my thing 😅

If I were asked to ship them with other people I could probably pick other partners for them ( Riza actually, not Roy i just can't seem him with another woman ) but yeah
