Also something that actually does irk me about ruby. The trailer is insanely missleading lmao. Grandmama has camouflage in the damn trailer and MENTIONS it to ruby but it’s not a thing at all in the film, and we have chelsea/nerissa doing the whole “I know your secret” which is so funny compared to the actual movie where somehow were supposed to believe she doesn’t know prior her seeing ruby giant lmao, like she knows what a damn kraken looks like. Not to mention in the movie she actually comes off caring about ruby at least a bit. Like, I really don’t care if it shows how good she is at being manipulative, I wished we had actual chelsea being a nice person even when she was doing her moms bidding to kill the royal kraken family.

Behold! Future Chelsea design! And before you say, YES. I know she looks like a Karen but trust me she is the opposite. I’m sorry for making her hair short lmao. Some things to think about. The bottom of her hair is supposed to look like it’s died blue (to match the gillmans). Her suit would be light blue, but she’s wearing a white shirt. I do also plan on making a future ruby design!

Another big reason I want chelsea to actually be a genuine character in these movies is Bc Annie Murphy does such a great job with her! Let my girl reach her full potential in voicing this character by letting her be an actual character with genuine emotions! Let her be genuinely sad, angry, happy, scared, etc. LET ANNIE COOK.

I still can’t get over this piece. Like it’s exactly what their dynamic should have been. Two girls lost and alone in their own ways, unfortunately at odds with each other because of the history of their peoples. Chelsea had so much potential to be this compelling character, someone who was so set on getting vengeance for her mother and liberating her people (with the possibility of her not even knowing where any of them were because her mother could have been outcasted after losing the war), but then finally found some happiness in her life from the person she felt she was destined to fight and kill. Ruby could have talked some sense into her and shown her “this isn’t what you really want, and it isn’t gonna make things better.” And Chelsea would ultimately unfortunately come to odds that maybe Ruby is right. She would realize she can choose what she really wants, what she’s always wanted. To have friends, an actual family, A PLACE TO CALL HOME. She doesn’t have to let the past define what she has to do, she can choose to be happy. She would realize just how much of a mistake it would be to finish her mission, because it would take away the one bit of genuine happiness she’s felt in her life. That’s why this movie feels so wrong in how it ended. There was so much potential for her character. AND YES! I know I’m ranting and I know I’m giving this movie shit, I know I shouldn’t but there are times when you have to realize something could have been so much more than what it was. And that’s this movie, that’s chelsea as a character. And I’ll always hope that dreamworks realizes that and gives it a second go and gives it their all this time. I know they can do it.

Dreamworks pls I’m begging you, give my girl justice. Her and ruby can still be friends and rejoice mermaids and krakens plsssss-

I’m just saying this has the potential to be one of the best adoptive mom and daughter duos ever in fiction. They’d be unstoppable.

Ruby Gillman

The Art Style of this movie is amazing. So creative and unique. I really like Ruby and Lana Condor the Actress from All the boys I‘ve loved before voiced her. This movie reminds a lot of H2o Just add water and Mako mermaids but with a Kraken. It also shows us the beautiful and dangerous the ocean could be with all these different colors and shadings. Rubys Conflict is very interesting, I understand and releate to her, but not as much as I do to Hiccup. As with Stoick in I can also very good understand where Ruby’s mom comes from. Their relationship is well written and they have a great scene together when Ruby transforms for the second time. The only missed opportunity is between Chelsea and Ruby that they become real friends and bring peace to their folks. The final fight was pretty damn cool. The Prom-Dance Party was a lot of fun to watch. My conclusion is: that it is actually a good movie and I understand why people like or don’t like it. But I’m pretty fine it.
