How you dying đź‘€
Prompt 58
@saiaisaiko and I were talking in the comments of one of my earlier prompts, and they really inspired me to make this prompt, so all the love to them, thanks for being my muse ;P Geralt has known right from the start that Jaskier is human. A mortal. Before Geralt will even know, he'll die. So Geralt eventually does relent and admit they're best friends, but he will NEVER give in to his feelings of love for the bard. He shoves it all down and away. Geralt will not fall in love with something he's going to lose. He wouldn't survive it. He already knows he'll never be the same after Jaskier leaves, he won't be able to keep going if he knows what it's like to love and be loved with Jaskier. He watches as Jaskier gets too old for following along the path, and then too old to work, and then too old to live. Geralt cries as he holds Jaskier's hand as Jaskier lays in his death bed. Geralt was... Broken. To be honest. Trudging on with life in an emotionless haze, not really remembering anything or truly caring, Geralt finally makes it to Winter, going back to Kaer Morhen and holing himself up in his room for the most part. The only time he leaves his room for anything but retrieving food to bring back to said room is when he hears his brothers shouting in shock and horror. Geralt races to the courtyard where they are, only to see the impossible. A man with wings made of fire flies down into the courtyard, gracefully. And Geralt knows the man. He looks like Jaskier. But Jaskier from their first year together in Posada. He's young. He's alive, and young. Jaskier folds his wings in and takes a step closer, opening his mouth to say something, but Geralt can't even hesitate. He races forward and kisses Jaskier roughly. Perhaps a romance between them wasn't as impossible as he had first thought. ♡!Optional addons!♡ • Jaskier also had no idea he was a phoenix until he emerged from a pile of ash looking 18 again • Jaskier DOES know he's of phoenix blood, and tries to tell Geralt such on his death bed, only to die before he can get it out. He words it as him revealing a big secret, and Geralt misunderstands and assumes Jaskier was about to tell him that Jaskier loves him. (And yes, Jaskier DOES, but really, he thought that wasn't a secret.) • Jaskier was CONVINCED Geralt already knew (How could he not?) and is just so bewildered that Geralt was/is sad and disbelieving when Jaskier first shows up. I mean, why wouldn't Jaskier choose Geralt for his other lifetimes as well? Did he have to go so far? It took forever for Jaskier to catch up and find him on the damn mountain!
Prompt 60
For completing an especially hard contract, Geralt is given a present from the fae. "Your perfect love", they call it. When Jaskier is shoved toward him, Geralt wishes he could say he was surprised. Geralt quickly gains his shock back, however, when upon his bard speaking, he finds he has been completely drained of his personality. Jaskier speaks as concisely and directly as possible, with no embellishment or flowering of his words - Hell, he doesn't even speak with emotion or tone in his voice. Geralt demands to know what they've done to Jaskier, only for the fae to teleport them out. Geralt goes from mage to mage, sorcerer to sorcerer, healer to healer, priest to priest, hoping desperately that someone, anyone, can revert Jaskier back to himself. Jaskier no longer sings. He barely talks. He doesn't wander off, or dance in place, or reach out to Geralt. His eyes have even dulled in color, now a blank gray, always looking hazy and glossed over. Nobody can heal Jaskier. Or so it seeems! I love happy endings SO two options (or any you come up with but you know what I mean) Option 1: Geralt marches back to the Fae's woods and demands they speak to him, as they've disrespected him by not giving him his prize for completing their contract those months ago. When they bring him in, affronted at the idea of what he is implying, they are shocked when he berates them for at least a full hour over how much he loves the traits his bard once had that they had thought he found annoying. "So you never gave me my perfect love." He finishes. They all converse for a moment, before nodding. "It seems we underestimated you, Witcher. We apologize for the misconception." And thank the gods, Jaskier slumps in place and looks to Geralt with bright blue eyes. "Geralt? Wh- What's going on?" Only to then be kicked out of the fae realm again. Oh well. At least Jaskier was cured. Option 2: TRUE LOVE'S KISS BABBYYYYYYYYYY
Prompt 111
`Jaskier and Geralt are playflirting a lot more than they used to. Geralt allows more touches than normal. They had a heartfelt talk one inebriated night about intimacy and longing for someone to hold. Clearly, they're ready to move forward from friendship into romance, right? Geralt's finally caught wind of Jaskier's hints and is dropping his own? Geralt gave him a custom ring the other day! They're clearly about to embrace each other and make out wildly and it'll be the best day of Jaskier's life! Even if Geralt had just grunted when Jaskier confessed, Jaskier would prefer it to Geralt being disgusted and hating him forever. Jaskier finally plucks up the courage one night to tell Geralt how he feels. Jaskier picks wildflowers and makes a clumsy bouquet, and ties it together along with a handwritten poem about how much Jaskier loves Geralt, and how beautiful he finds him. He finds Geralt sat by the fire, and Jaskier stares at his back for a moment, before clearing his throat, and softly asking Geralt what Geralt thinks about love. Geralt speaks of grief, and loss, and pain. About how it's not worth it in the end. Jaskier is heartbroken but he laughs it off and hides the bouquet deep in his bags. He goes to bed early, and prays that Geralt can't smell his soul-crushing devastation.
Geralt is beginning to panic. Jaskier and him have been flirting, and Jaskier touches him more and for longer, and That One Talk they had that night. But everyone to ever love Geralt has died. Quite horribly. Sometimes by his own hand. He can't love Jaskier, for it'll end with his bard's beautiful lively blue eyes unseeing as he lays dead on the ground. He has nightmares about it for four nights straight. One night, he's poking around at the fire at camp when Jaskier from behind him asks him what he thinks of love. He gives his honest answer. Loving Geralt just isn't worth it. It always ends with pain and heartache.
A few nights later, Jaskier asks Geralt to grab him something from Jaskier's bag. It's nothing. It's simple and unassuming. And yet while Geralt rummages through the bags, he accidentally stumbles across a crumpled little withering bouquet of flowers, complete with a beautiful poem about loving... Him. Jaskier wrote a poem about loving Geralt? Were the flowers for Geralt? Why is it in Jaskier's bag? Did Jaskier lose his nerve? Did Jaskier think better of it? Or was- FUCK. The night at the campfire! Shit, he always does this- This is precisely why he didn't want them to fall in love in the first place! Jaskier would get hurt. But it's too late to stop them falling now, he supposes... He'll think more about the repercussions about it all later. First thing's first, Geralt has to make a bouquet and try his hand at writing.
