DASHBOARD UNFUCKER V1.0
as 90% of desktop users have probably found out, today @staff released an update that for some insane reason COMPLETELY remodels the dashboard to replicate twitter's. this is of course in the wake of numerous other thoroughly hated changes and a continued refusal to fix any of the site's actual problems, half of which stem directly from site management.
HOWEVER, thanks to the power of jQuery, i was able to throw together a userscript that remodels the dashboard back to its original look almost perfectly.
here is my dashboard right now, with the script active:

and here is the old dashboard in separate tab container that hasn't received the update:

it's hardly perfect; i had trouble making it force reload to the fixed layout when switching between other pages and the dashboard, and it currently only fixes just the dashboard. it's also completely untested on browsers other than firefox, and chances are it looks a bit screwy on ultrawide monitors. but for now at least, it's a good fix.
the unfucker is a tampermonkey userscript. all you have to do to use it is install the tampermonkey extension, hit "create new script", and replace the default code on the page with the script (link here) and save it.

Self-ship game for people with lots of F/Os!
Hello everyone! I had this idea very randomly! This is for those of us who have a handful or WAY more than a handful of f/os! Something fun that we can engage in to show off our f/os and self-ship stories! So, this is how it works: Count all of your f/os, and assign them all numbers as you count! ie: 1. f/o 2. f/o 3. f/o et cetera! Reblog this post and state a number 1 through however many f/os you have on that list. ie: 1-56 There's no limit on f/os, I promise! People can then send you asks with numbers, ones that they randomly pick from however many you have! When you receive asks, you find the number and whichever f/o it belongs to and you reveal who they are and talk about them and your lore for them! This is a practice in which you can talk about f/os you might not have spoken about yet! Or to make up something on the spot! --- I hope the structure makes sense! I'll be reblogging this shortly after on my main as an example! I have...a mother load of f/os, I might have reached 100 by now!

Just to make a point, every time I finished a panel of this I would export it as a PNG on the perceptual setting and use it as a color reference for the next panel
IT'S BAD
PLEASE CHECK YOUR COLOR SETTINGS
EDIT: If you're still having problems, it might help to switch from "Save/Save as" to "Export (as a) Single Layer". Just. Make SURE the box labeled "Expression Color" is set to RGB. I've been messing with this all day, and it looks like this combination of settings will allow exported PNGs to maintain their colors perfectly. To you. So far both Discord and Toyhouse still only display desaturated images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why

Dropping this here for anyone who may not already know about it. paywallreader.com
hello. have YOU been looking for all the sprites and textures in ot2 but found nothing but character/npc sprites?
well look no further! as i hinted at in my last post, i went through all the texture files in the game and i exported all of them as pngs bc viewing them in the program was terribly annoying.
so! obviously i'm also gonna share them bc all the sprite uploads i've seen are only of npc/character/a few object/weapon sprites.
so here's the link! yes, with ALL of the textures and sprites (or rather about 99.9% of it, i left out some generic textures), including:
every enemy sprite (unfortunately i really don't have the energy to look up and rename all the files to the enemy names so you'll kinda have to guess based on the shortened names)
ui elements (did you know the speech bubbles are chopped up into many small pieces!)
that one folder with the old screenshots
building and ground textures
a folder with prototype textures/sprites!
doesn't include any 3d models of anything tho. textures only. that thing's already 3.1 gb large and i don't want it to take up more of my google drive space.

so i went ahead and went through all the sprites and textures in ot2. found smth interesting (as if all the various textures in the game aren't interesting lol), for some reason there's a folder with old screenshots from some points in development?
well, firstly there's- world's worst pathetic fucking tiny sacred guard headquarters. couldn't even afford roof textures. featuring my girl kaldena ofc.

and now for smth a little more interesting (to others. kaldena is always interesting to me), there's this screenshot from the start of temy's stormhail chapter where the mint writes a letter to him. (for some reason it's still got that window title bar at the top??)

so here, she calls him veritas. in fact, none of the screenshots call him temenos, just veritas. suppose they didn't really have a name for him yet at that point and picked a placeholder name, but vados, the mint and crick (whose names appear in the same screenshots as his) do get to have their real names. of course, this name fits with temy's whole truth thing, but, as a friend said, it's a little too on the nose.
and one more thing:

there's 8 statues here instead of 2!! they all look the same yes. i assume they wanted to change them to the other god statues but just removed them? maybe because it would cover some npcs or smth? it certainly would have made more sense to have all of them there instead of just... 2. well fuck man maybe someone stole them... or smth. but my god for a world with at least 8 gods they sure like to focus only on One (1) god. maybe 2.
i've nothing particular to say anymore but if you want to take a look at them yourself here's the link for these screenshots. a lot of them are temy related for some reason.
PLEASE for the love of the universe read anti-colonial science fiction and fantasy written from marginalized perspectives. Yāall (you know who you are) are killing me. To see people praise books about empire written exclusively by white women and then turn around and say you donāt know who Octavia Butler is or that you havenāt read any NK Jemisin or that Babel was too heavy-handed just kills me! Iām not saying you HAVE to enjoy specific books but there is such an obvious pattern here
Some of yāall love marginalized stories but you donāt give a fuck about marginalized creators and characters, and it shows. Like damn

i know we joke about cis artists having the weirdest sense of anatomy, but also even when the anatomy is fine, no one seems to want to draw women doing normal things
Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.Ā It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search termsĀ
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.Ā As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
ā
Google is so powerful that it āhidesā other search systems from us. We just donāt know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
