Pairing: Baekhyun x Reader

Genre: series, doctor!baekhyun au, fluff, angst, smut (in later chapters)

Word Count: 2,074

Summary: You’re about to start your internship in Seoul’s most prestigious hospital but before you devote your whole life to medicine, you decide to have one more night of freedom. But, what happens when that one night follows you to your job in the hospital? (inspired by Grey’s Anatomy)

A/N: I know it’s been a while since I posted but my time has been consumed with school and college apps. But I do and will try my best with updating. I know it might not seem like it, but I do try to make as much time for this as I can, it just doesn’t seem to be enough. Anyways, here’s the highly anticipated chapter. I’m not that proud of it and I wish I could’ve spent more time on it but I didn’t want to keep you all waiting.  ~admin L

Part 6:

It’s been 2 weeks since I last talked to Baekhyun. I’ve been all over the place, making sure everything I do is needed. I’ve run into him a couple times, but when I try talking to him, he just looks down and walks away. I shouldn’t care as much as I do, especially when Jihyo has been all over him these past weeks. She’s been stealing all the charts and patients that Baekhyun is likely to see just so she can spend more time with him. So to distract myself, I just dove into my work. I try to assist on every surgery that comes my way.

“Okay so Dr. Byun has a cranial case in which he’s going to need some help-” starts out Dr. Kim. “I’ll do it,” interjects Jihyo. “Don’t interrupt me,” warns Dr. Kim, giving her the death stare. “Anyways, I was thinking that Y/N can have this case. I’ve seen her working the hardest and making herself more useful than any of you. If you want a surgery, then deserve it. Jihyo you can go with her.” He pats me on the back, harder than I expected, making me wince. He continues, “Okay so Chanyeol, you’ll be doing labs. Chen, you’ll be helping me do a whipple. Can anyone tell me what that is?” We all raise our hands to answer the question. The residents and attendings, depending on who we’re working with, ask us questions, quiz us on our knowledge, hence this being a learning hospital. Dr. Kim calls on Chanyeol. “It’s a pancreatic duodectomy.” “Correct and what is it used to treat?” We all raise our hands again. “Chen.” “Abdominal mass,” states Chen proudly. “Not necessarily. Unless it’s consistent with…” Only Jihyo and I raise our hands this time. “Y/N.” “Pancreatic cancer.” “Correct.” Yes! I feel Chen pat my back in congrats as Dr. Kim continues. “Now go to your stations and get to work. Don’t page me unless it’s something important. Chen, come with me.” We all depart and go our separate ways. The closer I get to where Baekhyun is, the more nervous I get. What if he doesn’t let me scrub in? What if he only lets Jihyo in? What if he asks for another intern, making me look bad and possibly causing the hospital to renounce my internship. We just reach the door enough to hear Baekhyun say, “where are those interns I’ve asked for?” “We’re here,” I say. He turns around in his chair and looks at me with an unreadable expression. My breath hitches in my throat as we make eye contact. “Good,” he’s starts. He looks down, breaking our eye contact. “Come here and clean his scalp for me.” I walk over to where he’s sitting as he hands me the bloody towel. Our gloved hands overlap each other causing heat to rise up to my cheeks. He gets up off his seat and coughs awkwardly, getting my attention. “I was just telling the nurses and staff that he accidentally fell during his job at a construction site and punctured nails into his head from a nail gun he was holding.” “N-nails, like the ones you use to build things?” asks Jihyo in surprise. It seems like Baekhyun forgot she was there because he jumped a little at her voice. “Yeah, the thick, metal ones.” “I can’t see my hands.” We look to where the voice was coming from, on the patient’s bed. “Oh my god, how is he still conscious?” Jihyo asks. The staff begins to move frantically now that we know he’s conscious. “Use 4 milligrams of morphine. Titrate up to 10,” says Baekhyun. “Please don’t move mister…” I begin. “Choi Siwon,” adds Baekhyun. He shines his penlight at his eyes, checking for a response. “Somehow he managed to miss the blood vessel that is keeping him conscious.” “That’s basically a miracle,” I say in astonishment. “How many nails does he have?” “Seven. Although his optic nerves have been affected. What’s our immediate concern?” asks Baekhyun. “Bleeding,” Jihyo says abruptly. “No, not yet,” says Baekhyun. He turns around, finally looking me in the eye again. “What’s our immediate concern?” “Infection,” I say quietly. “Right.” He turns to the rest of staff. “I’m gonna be pulling these nails out in the next half hour. I need a C.T.” “C.T.s are down,” says a nurse. “What?!” Baekhyun runs a frustrated hand through his hair. “They exchanged them out last night,” continues the nurse. “The computers crashed, they said they will have them back up by 1:00.” “Fine. What are our other options?” Baekhyun turns to Jihyo and I. “An M.R.I..” says Jihyo. “The man has nails in his head,” Baekhyun says furiously, “why would we stick him in a giant magnet?” He points at me. “What are we going to do? What can we do to help this man and cause minimal damage?” Everyone in the room is staring at me and I begin to feel the pressure. Calm down, Y/N. You know the answer. Just stay calm. “We need films from 3 axis points and a c-arm in surgery.” “And what is the c-arm for?” He challenges. “It will provide images for us to know where to make our incisions.” “Perfect. You heard her people, prep a c-arm.” He turns to me. “I’m going to need you to stay with Siwon at all times and get him to a room. Page me if anything changes.” And with that, the room becomes empty, except for me and Siwon. “Hey.” And Jihyo. “Hmm?” “Do you like Dr. Byun?” My eyes widen. “What? No. Why would you ask that?” “Because you’re all over him.” I scoff. “I was all over him? You’ve been assisting in all his surgeries for the past two weeks. And I was assigned to this case, it’s not like I volunteered.” “Well ask Dr. Kim if you can switch.” “But I don’t want to switch.” “What?!” “Listen. This is a medical miracle. I’m not going to step out of this case and not enhance my medical career just because you feel a little insecure when I’m around Dr. Byun. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to prep Siwon for his surgery.” I stand up and push Siwon’s gurney out the door, leaving Jihyo alone in the E.R. ~ I sit down next to Chen in the cafeteria. “I hate him.” “Who?” he says with a mouthful of food. “Baekhyun.” “Why? He seems like a cool guy. Besides the fact he’s been ignoring you all this time.” “I hate him. I hate how he makes me feel, I hate how cute he is, and I hate that I care so much.” I put my hands over my face. “Because of that, now Jihyo thinks I like him and has declared this rivalry against me.” “Oh my god,” laughs Chen. “The one thing you hate the most is happening to you, with the most boy-crazy girl. I don’t know what you’re going to do.” “It’s not funny Chen,” I groan. “You know I hate fighting over boys. It’s so stupid and demeaning. Anyways what should I do?” “I think the first thing you need to do is clear up things with Dr. Byun. He’s the root of your problem so start from there and work your way down.” “Yeah, you’re right.” I throw my arms around him causing him to flinch. “Yay!! Thank you for being helpful for once.” “Hey! I’m helpful all the time.” I squeeze his cheek. “Sure you are.” “Hey, how’s the cranial case going?” asks Chanyeol. “It’s going great Chanyeol,” I get up from my seat confidently and pat Chanyeol on the shoulder on my way out. “It’s going just fine.” ~ I walk around the hospital looking for Baekhyun. If I’m going to be able to talk to him, I have to corner him somewhere where he can’t leave. Just then I see him entering the on-call room. Okay good. That’s where we had our last fall out and now we’re going to solve it. I enter the on-call room hoping he won’t leave when he sees me. He turns around and his eyes widen. They soon turn into eyes of anger and he attempts to walk out but I block the door. “Wait, please. Let’s talk. Please.” He stares at my pleading eyes and sighs as he steps away from the door, giving us room. He crosses his arms and stares at me intensely. “Chen is not my boyfriend,” I blurt out. “Then why are you always together, and why did I walk in on the two of you being really intimate,” he asks angrily. “He’s my best friend. Nothing more.” “It doesn’t seem like you two are just friends. Did you just lead me on even though you had someone else?” Now my blood begins to boil. He keeps making assumptions without hearing me out, making me look like the bad guy. “First of all, he’s just a friend. Second of all, I don’t have to explain anything to you because third of all, I did not lead you on. I never gave you the assumption that you and I were ever going to be anything more than co-workers. The second I found out you worked here, I told you that there was no possibility of there being an ‘us’ so just back off.” That seems to anger him even more because he takes two long strides to get in front of my face. “I don’t think that’s what you want.” “What makes you think tha-” My words are interrupted by the crash of his lips against mine. He holds my face with both his hands, deepening the kiss. My head is spinning. My hands are pressed against his chest but instead of pushing him away, I pull him closer to me. He soon pulls away, staring at my plump lips. “Told you.” I let go of his shirt and back away to sit on the bed. Why is he always right? I won’t give him the satisfaction so I stay quiet. He sits next to me on the bed. “Why won’t you stop denying it and let me take you out?” “We can’t,” I look down at my hands. “It’s inappropriate. And besides, this got me into trouble already.” Before I can realize what I said, Baekhyun speaks. “What do you mean this already got you in trouble?” I stay silent, hoping he won’t pry too much. Much to my luck, he won’t budge. He grabs my chin and makes me look at him. “Y/N. What do you mean by trouble?” I sigh. “I told Chen about us and when you gave me the surgery, he got angry and said it was because I slept with you.” Baekhyun furrows his eyebrows and gets up quickly. “I’m going to kill him.” He walks towards the door but I grab his arm, pulling him back. “Wait listen to me.” I pull him back to sit on the bed. Once I know I have his full attention, I continue. “That’s why I came to your office to clarify why you chose me for the surgery. That’s also why he and I were hugging. He apologized for what he said. Just please don’t be mad at him.” “Fine I won’t.” “Thank yo-” “Only if you go on a date with me.” I open my mouth to say something but no words would come out. “Just one date,” he clarifies. “I can’t.” “You can.” “No, I can’t. This is might be easy for you but not for me. Do you know what people will say?” “Who cares what they say?” “I do. Do you know how many people will dismiss and degrade my work just because they think I’m getting by by sleeping with my boss? If my own best friend thought that, imagine the majority of the interns and residents. I can’t put my career on the line for whatever this is.” Baekhyun seems conflicted. Before he can respond, my pager begins to ring, indicating an emergency. “I have to go.” I get up and walk towards the door to be pulled back. “Wait, we need to talk about this.” “We’ll talk more later. But right now I have to go.” I get out of his hold and run out the door, leaving him alone in the on-call room.

A/N: I’m sorry again for the lag and I hope this made up for it.

Part 7:

Avoiding Baekhyun is almost impossible, especially when you have to work with him the whole week. Every time we finish a simple task, like fill out a chart or do an x-ray, he asks: “Can we talk now?” And every time, I reply with a rejection. It’s been 3 days since we’ve been working together on this case and he won’t budge.

We’re standing outside of Siwon’s room waiting for him to sign the consent forms for his surgery when Baekhyun pulls me aside. “Can we talk now?” I look around to see if anybody is looking at us. I make eye contact with Jihyo’s menacing stare but quickly avert my eyes back to Baekhyun. “No,” I simply reply. “Fine,” he sighs. “I didn’t want to do this but if you don’t talk to me right now then I’m not letting you scrub in on the surgery.” “What?!” I yell before I can stop myself. I scan the room again and now everyone is staring at me. I cough awkwardly and bring my attention back to Baekhyun. “You can’t do that.” “Yes, I can. I can do whatever I want because I’m your boss,” he smirks. “That’s taking advantage of your power.” “I know,” he continues to smirk. “You’re annoying.” “There’s only room for one intern to scrub in on the surgery so I either choose you or Jihyo. Who’s it going to be?” “I hate you.” He laughs. “You love me.” I roll my eyes. “Let’s go.” I turn around and begin walking with Baekhyun following behind me like an obedient puppy. We sit at a table in the cafeteria, our lunch displayed in front of us. I pick up my sandwich to take a bite but feel uncomfortable with Baekhyun staring at me with that big, stupid grin on his face. I put my sandwich down and stare him down. “What?” “Oh, nothing. I just find it cute that you bring your own lunch from home.” “Well as an intern, I can’t really afford to buy lunch every day so this will do.” His smile falters a bit but then rises again as he reaches over and takes my lunch. “Hey! What the-” “Here. You can take my salad. I’m tired of cafeteria food anyways.” He takes a bite of my sandwich and immediately puts his thumbs up. “This is really good! You can be a chef.” I chuckle. “It’s just a sandwich, Baek.” “It’s the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my entire life,” he says as he takes a huge bite. I laugh at his exaggerations. He looks like a little kid, eating a homemade sandwich with a huge smile on his face and mayo splattered on the corner of his lip. Without thinking I reach over and wipe it off with my thumb causing Baekhyun and I both to freeze. He looks me in the eye with an unreadable expression and I quickly retract my hand, looking down at the table. “Sorry. You, uh, had some mayo on your face.” “Thanks, mom,” he chuckles to lighten the mood, which I’m grateful for. He pushes his salad towards me. “Eat up. I’m not giving you your sandwich back so you better eat up.” “I feel weird just taking your food.” “It’s fine. I stole your food anyways. Here.” He picks up a fork full of lettuce and chicken and aims it towards my mouth. I awkwardly open my mouth to take in the food as he hums in approval. “Good girl.” I laugh, “Shut up.” All of a sudden I hear a cough to my right and see Chen and Chanyeol with their lunch trays, staring at Baekhyun and I. “Are these seats taken?” asks Chanyeol. “No, uh, they’re not,” I say awkwardly. “Good,” says Chen, as he and Chanyeol sit to the right of me, all of us facing a lonely Baekhyun now. “So what’s going on?” asks Chanyeol. “Nothing,” Baekhyun and I both blurt out, making Chen and Chanyeol look at us more suspiciously. “With all due respect sir,” starts out Chanyeol, “why are you sitting with Y/N? Attendings don’t usually hang out with interns.” “Oh, umm, well I was just explaining to Y/N the procedure of the surgery we’re doing tomorrow. She’s going to be scrubbing in and I wanted to make sure she was prepared.” “Wait,” says a voice next to Baekhyun. We turn to see Jihyo with her lunch, staring down at Baekhyun. She pulls the chair next to him and sits down. “Why aren’t you explaining the procedure to me as well?” “Well there’s only space for one intern to scrub in and I’ve chosen Y/N.” “What? Why her?” She looks my way, shooting me threatening glares causing me to look down at my newly owned salad as if it’s the most interesting thing in the room. Before Baekhyun can reply, Chen speaks. “What a lovely surprise it is to see you Jihyo.” Chen tilts his head to the side. “You don’t usually eat lunch with us so why are you here now? Hmm?” Chen is a real one. He knows how much Jihyo despises me because of Baekhyun and now this is payback. She coughs awkwardly. “What are you t-talking about? I-I always eat lunch with you guys.” “No you don’t,” interjects Chanyeol. “I’m pretty sure this is the first time you’ve eaten lunch with us.” “I think I’m going to go now,” stands Baekhyun. “I’ll see you later Y/N.” “Wait,” calls out Jihyo. “Where are you going?” “I think I’m going to check on Siwon to see if his vitals are stable.” “I’ll go with you,” blurts out Jihyo. “Don’t you want to stay here with your friends?” “They’re not really my friends. I’ll go with you.” Chen clutches his heart jokingly and pretends to faint on Chanyeol. Baekhyun begins walking away and Jihyo gets up and follows behind. “Did she really just say that?” asks Chen. “Yeah, she did,” I say calmly. ~ “How are you feeling today Siwon?” He smiles at me with a gentle grin. “I’m okay for now Y/N. Thank you.” “No problem,” I smile. I go towards his screen and check his vitals. “Everything seems to be good. You ready for your surgery tomorrow?” “I have no choice but to be ready.” “True,” I chuckle. “Have you talked to Dr. Byun yet?” My eyes widen at the mention of Baekhyun. “What do you mean?” “I’m not deaf you know, I can hear your conversations. Especially when I’m in this hospital bed with nothing to do, I can’t help but find some sort of entertainment with whatever is around me.” I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. He pats the side of his bed, making space for me to sit. I sit and he smiles at me with pity. “So have you spoken to him?” “Not really.” “What do you mean ‘not really’?” I sigh. “It’s complicated. How much do you know about Dr. Byun and I? "Enough to know that he likes you and you like him, but you don’t want to date him because he’s your boss. And something happened between you two and now he wants to talk about it.” “You got it spot on.” “I’ve been told I’m a good listener.” I laugh sarcastically. “I’ve been told I’m a horrible listener.” “I can see that.” I laugh and get up when I hear a knock on the door. “Sorry to interrupt,” says Baekhyun at the door. “Can I steal Y/N for a little bit?” “By all means,” says Siwon. I look back at Siwon and he gives me a playful wink, causing me to roll my eyes. I walk over to where Baekhyun is now, at the nurse reception. “You called?” I say monotonous. “We never finished talking and I’m letting you scrub in.” “Okay …” “Let’s go into an on-call room.” “Fine.” I follow him into the closest on-call room and close the door behind us. I look around to see if anybody else is in here and when the coast is clear, I sit on the bed next to Baekhyun. “What’s up?” I turn to face him. “Go out with me.” “No.” “Please.” “No.” “Why?” “No.” “C'mon Y/N,” he whines. “No.” “I promise I’ll treat you right.” “I’m sure you will Baekhyun but it’s others that won’t once they find out we’re dating.” “I won’t let anything happen to you.” I stay quiet for a bit. He really seems genuine and I do like him but there are so many things at stake here. “Just one date,” he pleads. “And then if you don’t want to continue dating then we’ll go back to normal.” One date? How bad could it be? I bite my lip and look into his pleading, puppy-dog eyes. “Fine.” “Really?” “Yes.” “Oh my god, thank you! You don’t understand how much I like you. I was worried you wouldn’t like me back. And working with you is so hard because I want you so bad but-” I grab his face and crash my lips onto his to stop his rambling. He’s stiff at first but then melts into the kiss. His hands travel to my waist and the kiss soon becomes more heated as he pushes his tongue through my lips, eliciting a muffled moan from me. He slowly pushes me down on my back and hovers over me without breaking the kiss. With another roll of his tongue, I moan again causing him to break the kiss. “God I love those sounds you’re making, baby.” I slowly begin to regain my conscience and realize what’s going on. When he leans in for another kiss, I put a hand on his chest, pushing him back a little. I try to ignore my thoughts of how firm his chest is and sit up. He looks at me with confused and worried eyes. “We’ll save this for our first date,” I say nonchalantly. He smiles sweetly and nods. He soon realizes he’s still on me and scrambles off, causing him to accidentally fall off the bed. I quickly get off the bed and attend to his side. “Are you okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine,” he groans. His mood suddenly changes and he’s looking at me with those puppy-dog eyes again. “I would feel much better if you would give me a kiss.” I roll my eyes but nonetheless give him a small peck on his lips. I laugh when his lips chase after mine, wanting more. I put a finger on his lips to stop him from going any further. “Be patient,” I warn. At the sound of the door opening, we back away from each other, looking like deer caught in headlights. I look up to see Chanyeol at the doorway, looking a little flabbergasted. “What’s going on?” He asks softly. “I was, uh, sleeping in here when I heard a thump and, uh, saw Baek- I mean Dr. Byun on the floor. He must have fallen off the bed.” Chanyeol’s face turns into a face of relief, seeming to believe my story. “Oh okay, well Chen’s looking for you. Since our shift is over, we were thinking of going to the bar across the street. You wanna come?” “Bar?” repeats Baekhyun. Chanyeol seems to have forgotten he was there because he begins to stutter. “Umm, yes sir. If you want, umm, you can come too sir …” I shake my head really fast trying to make Chanyeol take it back. Baekhyun turns to look at me and I freeze, giving him a friendly smile. “Yeah sure. Maybe I’ll stop by,” replies Baekhyun. “Great,” I say with an awkward undertone. I get up and start walking to the door. “Well we better get going, let’s go Chanyeol.” I walk out of the room to the locker room where Chen is, Chanyeol following behind. Once I get to Chen, I turn around and angrily stare at the tall being in front of me. For such a tall person, he seems to cower easily. “What the hell, Chanyeol!” I yell. “Wait, what’s going on?” asks a worried Chen. “Chanyeol invited our boss to have drinks with us.” “What the hell Chanyeol!” repeats Chen. “I’m sorry, he was there and it would be kind of rude not to invite him,” mumbles Chanyeol. “Wait, which boss?” asks Chen “Dr. Byun,” mutters Chanyeol. Chen looks at me for a second and then back at Chanyeol. “Okay, that’s not so bad. It’s better than Dr. Kim. God, that man scares me.” “See Y/N. It’s not so bad,” says Chanyeol. “No, you’re still stupid but you’re not a complete dumbass,” says Chen. “Hey!” yells Chanyeol. “It’s fine Chanyeol,” I say out of pity. “You were just being polite. And you’re not stupid.” I jump up to mess up his hair and then turn around to change.

A/N: hope you all liked it. feel free to ask me any questions and keep me updated about you all think about the fic.

Part 8: We’re in the bar, sitting at a round table, our drinks in front us, talking about the dumbest things ever. “But I swear that patient was hitting on me,” says Chen confidently.

“No she wasn’t,” contradicts Chanyeol. “Her asking you for more morphine is not flirting.” Chanyeol and I burst into laughter as Chen turns red and tries to convince us even further. “What’s so funny?” We all turn around to the voice and came into contact with Baekhyun and Dr. Kim. “Dr. Byun, you made it,” said Chen awkwardly. “Please, call me Baekhyun outside of the hospital and I hope you don’t mind but I invited Minseok to join us.” “Who’s Minseok?” asks Chanyeol. “I’m Minseok,” says Dr. Kim. We’ve never heard anyone refer to him by his first name so hearing it for the first time was a little weird, probably even more so since we’ve had a bit to drink. “Since we’re outside of the hospital you can call me Minseok but if you dare call me that in front of my colleagues, I will make sure none of you see the inside of an O.R. again. Understood?” “Yes s-sir,” we all mutter. “Be easy on them Minseok,” says Baekhyun. “You’re only a couple of years older than them. Let’s sit.” Baekhyun and Minseok take a seat, Baekhyun making sure he takes the seat next to me. He looks at me innocently and smiles with all his teeth making me scoff, bringing my attention to the group. It’s awkward and quiet, no one is saying anything. I sip my drink hoping someone starts the conversation. Luckily, Chanyeol speaks first. “So, how’s everyone doing?” I suddenly feel a hand on my thigh and I know exactly who’s it is. “I’m doing much better,” says Baekhyun with a smirk. “I’d be better if I had a drink,” remarks Minseok. I stand up immediately, trying to remove myself from this awkward encounter and from Baekhyun. “I’ll go get them. We all need refills anyways.” “I’ll help her,” says Baekhyun. I inwardly curse at myself and turn towards the bar. “What are you doing Baekhyun?” I say as we walk towards the bar. “What? I’m just here having drinks with my date’s friends.” “I’m not your date.” “I was talking about Chanyeol.” I burst into a fit of laughter at the sudden joke. I see him smile at his own joke. His smile is not too bad. I wouldn’t mind seeing it all day. Maybe he’s not so bad. Maybe I should give him a chance. We get to the bar and wait for the bartender to attend us. “Deja vu,” Baekhyun turns to face me. “Shut up,” I roll my eyes, knowing he’s remembering about the first time we met at the bar of a club. “Hey Y/N,” says the bartender. “Hi, Jisoo,” I smile politely at him. “Can I get a round of 5?” “Anything for you,” he winks and then disappears to get my order. “Who the hell was that?” asks Baekhyun annoyingly. “The bartender? He serves us drinks,” I say as if it’s obvious. “Yeah, but how does he know you?” “We come here a lot.” Before Baekhyun can say anything else, Jisoo comes back with our drinks. “Here you go. Do you need help caring it to your table?” Before I can say anything, Baekhyun swoops over and grabs the tray of drinks from Jisoo’s hands. “No, I got it.” Baekhyun begins walking over to the table, leaving me behind. “Is he your boyfriend or something?” asks Jisoo. “No. It’s complicated,” I say embarrassed. “Oh so you like him?” he smirks. “What?! No!” I blurt out. He looks at me with questioning eyes that know I’m lying. “Okay fine, I do.” He chuckles, “He seems like a good guy. If he’s jealous, then that means he truly cares for you.” “Yeah, I know.” “Is he also a surgeon?” “Yeah.” “See, you two already have something in common. You should give him a chance.” “That’s the thing, Jisoo. He’s my boss.” He seems taken aback by this new information but nonetheless keeps his calm composure. “Ohhh, I get it. Well, I still think you should give him a chance. And he’s not so bad looking. He’s not as pretty as me but he’ll do.” All of a sudden, Jisoo’s eyes seemed to be intrigued by something behind me because his smile gets wider. “You should bring him over more often by the way. I like messing with him.” At that, I feel a hand on the small of my back. I turn to see Baekhyun eyeing Jisoo suspiciously. “The group’s wondering where you are. We should go.” “Fine,” I stand. “I’ll see you later, Y/N,” smirks Jisoo. I try to wave at him but is quickly pulled away towards the group by Baekhyun’s firm hand on my waist. As we’re walking towards the group, I try to remove Baekhyun’s hand off of me. “Baekhyun, let go. I don’t want the others to see us.” His hand tightens around my waist. “Well I do,” his voice much deeper now. “I want everyone to know you’re mine.” “I’m not yours. I’m my own person, now let go.” I try to remove his hand again but he won’t budge. His anger and possessiveness seem to be blurring his reason. I have to do something before people see us. I abruptly push him to the side out of the view of the group, catching him off guard. We’re now at a dark part of the bar near the dart board. “What the hel-” Before he can finish his sentence, I wrap my arms around his neck and drag his head lower to kiss him on the lips. He’s in complete shock at first, lips firm and still but then melts into the kiss, wrapping both of his arms around my waist. I break the kiss slowly before my lungs give out. I look at him as his eye flutter open. He’s blushing now, so I know the old playful Baekhyun is back. “Are you okay now?” I say quietly, our faces still in close proximity. He nods slowly, cheeks still tinted pink. “Good, now let’s go back to the group.” I get out of his embrace and grab his hand as I drag him towards the group. Once we get back into the vision line of the group, I let go of his hand, making me feel weirdly empty. When we return to the table, we encounter a giggly Chen, a confused Chanyeol and an irritated Minseok and they’re not even drunk yet. “Wait so if you’re from Canada, then why don’t you have an accent?” asks Chanyeol Minseok rolls his eyes and chugs his beer to avoid the stupid question. “So what’s going on?” I ask as if nothing happened. “Nothing, we’re just getting to know our resident supervisor,” says Chen, causing Minseok to pinch his nose in annoyance. “We were planning on playing darts once you came. You down?” “You know I suck at darts.” “That’s what makes it more fun,” laughs Chen. “Remember when you accidentally stabbed that scary guy with a dart but then he forgave you because you-” “Okay,” I interrupt Chanyeol before he can finish that embarrassing story. I look towards Baekhyun already looking at me with his brows raised wondering what the story is about. Before he can open his mouth to speak, I blurt out: “Let’s play darts.” “For money,” says Chen. “Baekhyun, Minseok, are you in?” “I’m down,” says Baekhyun. He looks at Minseok and he shakes his head no. “Fine, then you’ll be the ref.” “Should we have teams?” suggests Chen. “I call Y/N,” blurts out Chanyeol. “Why if she sucks?” asks Chen. Chanyeol seems a little taken aback by the question, especially with everyone staring at him. “I- uh, don’t want her to feel left out when no one picks her.” “Hey!” I accuse. “Are you saying no one wants to pair up with me?” “That’s exactly what he’s saying cause it’s true,” says Chen. “I want her on my team,” says Baekhyun nonchalantly. “I won’t mind teaching her and then splitting the money once we win.” “Oh you’re on pretty boy,” says Chen. He gets up and pulls Chanyeol to his feet. “Let’s go Chanyeol, we’re gonna win brain surgeon and his girlfriend here and strip them of their money.” I freeze at the name and Baekhyun must have noticed because he’s smirking at me. He holds out what I presume to be a friendly hand and I take it nonetheless as he takes me to the dart board where Chanyeol and Chen are practicing. “Okay so there’s going to be five rounds and at every round, each person gets two tries,” says Minseok. “At each round, everybody puts in five dollars and it’s winner takes all. I’ll be keeping track of the score.” “Got it,” says Chen. “We’ll go first.” Everyone stands to the side as Chen gets ready for his turn. He has two darts in his hand and is eyeing the dart board, mumbling some words to himself. We stand here watching him for quite some time now and I begin getting impatient. “Just hit it, Chen,” I say with a sigh. He looks at me with threatening eyes but nonetheless grabs a dart and throws it at the board then does the same with the other dart. He makes both darts a couple inches away from the bullseye causing him to curse under his breath. Next is Chanyeol and he basically gets the same score as Chen, receiving a smack in the head from his angry partner. Now it’s our turn. Baekhyun steps up first. He concentrates at the dart board, swings his hand back and throws the dart. He makes in centimeters away from the bullseye, closer than Chen and Chanyeol. He does the same with his other dart and makes it around the same place as his last dart. He turns towards me and motions me over. I walk towards him slowly, eyeing him suspiciously. He grabs my hand and places two darts in them. He then grabs my hips and positions then firmly against his body, my back against his chest. Caught off guard by his confidence, I don’t notice the confused murmurs from the others. He puts his arms over mine and begins giving me a walk through of how to throw the dart. “Okay look at the board,” he says against my ear, quiet enough only for me to hear. “Just focus on the bullseye. Then swing back loosely.” He grabs my wrist and swings my arm at the pace he wants. “Then let go when you feel ready.” I turn to face him, bad idea now that our faces are really close to proximity. I look him in the eyes and almost forgot my question until he hummed, waiting for me to say something. “Umm, how do I know when it’s the right to time to throw?” “You’ll just know,” he simply says. “Now let’s try it.” He repositions my hips, leaving tingles on the places where his hands have been. “I’m gonna help you with the swinging and  then you let go, okay?” I nod obediently and begin to swing my arm. I’m more nervous than I should be for a game of darts. Maybe it’s because of the money? Or maybe it’s because of how close Baekhyun is, his breath on my neck, giving me goose bumps with his arms around me. It could also be the suspicious looks and murmurs coming from the people looking at us. All of a sudden, my thoughts are interrupted by Baekhyun’s voice in my ear. “Throw when you’re ready.” I nod and take a deep breath. Okay, I can do this. After two swings I let go of the dart. I close my eyes as soon as I hear it hit the board, too scared to see the score and ruin the chances of Baekhyun and I winning. All of a sudden I hear screams of “What!?” and open my eyes to see that I hit the bullseye. I turn around slowly to see Chen screaming at Chanyeol and Chanyeol almost crying. I then turn to see Baekhyun’s head back, laughing at them and their failure. “How the hell did she get a bullseye?” yells Chen. He turns to me and then turns to Chanyeol. “I want to change partners.” He walks over and pushes me out of the way to face Baekhyun. “I want you as my partner. Hold me like you held Y/N.” We all burst into laughter at his desperateness and Baekhyun’s uncomfortable face. I go in between Baekhyun and Chen and place a hand on Chen’s chest. “Too bad Chen, he’s mine. Go back and apologize to Chanyeol.” He mumbles something under his breath and walks back to Chanyeol. I suddenly feel hands snake their way around my waist and a breath on my ear. “So I’m yours, huh?” I soon realize what I had said and feel the blush creep onto my face. “N-no. I mean as in dart partners. Don’t go assuming things.” He chuckles in my ear. “Whatever you say, babe.” I shove him off of me so that we won’t get any suspicious looks. “Okay let’s just continue the game,” I say. We continue on with the game and Chen and Chanyeol soon catch up, causing each of them to send a devious smirk. It’s the last round and everyone has gone besides me. We’re three points down and it’s up to me to win. I have two tries, it shouldn’t be that hard. I stand in front of the board, getting ready to throw. I aim and just as I throw the first dart, Chen screams in my ear causing the throw to come out chaotic and miss the board completely. “What the hell Chen!! That’s cheating!” I yell. I turn to Minseok, “ref, I request their disqualification.” “What?” yells back Chen. “That wasn’t against the rules. They said I can’t touch you while you were playing but they never said I couldn’t yell.” “He’s right, sorry,” said Minseok. “Fine.” I go back to my spot and try to concentrate, but then I get an idea. I turn to Baekhyun, lean into his ear, and whisper. Chen and Chanyeol look alarmed at first trying to hear what I’m saying. I soon back away as Baekhyun nods. He walks behind Chen and covers his mouth, embracing Chen’s flailing arms with his free one. Chen is squirming but can’t break out of Baek’s embrace. “That’s cheating,” exclaims a frightened Chanyeol. “No, it’s not,” I smirk. “He’s not the one playing so Baekhyun’s allowed to touch him. And wasn’t it Chen that said he wanted Baek to hold him.” Minseok and I begin laughing while I bring my attention back to the board. “I trust that you won’t try anything Chanyeol,” I say without looking away from the board. I position myself to throw the final dart. I breathe in and out. Okay, I can do this. Just throw. And with that, I let go of the dart to see it hit the bullseye directly. I scream in victory and run towards Baekhyun. He coming towards me as well and I jump in his arms and kiss him straight on the lips. He’s surprised at first, eyes wide and lips firm but he then relaxes and leans into the kiss, his arms wrapping around me further. “What’s going on?” says Chanyeol shockingly and I soon realize how wrong Baekhyun and I must look right now. I lean away from his face and he puts me down, his arms still around me. I try to get out of his embrace but he won’t budge. Chanyeol repeats the question more persistently than before. Before I can make up an excuse, Baekhyun speaks. “Y/N and I are dating.” Chanyeol’s mouth opens in shock and he looks around to see Chen and Minseok calm. “How are you two calm about this?” “I kind of already knew,” says Chen. “Me too,” says Minseok. “What?! How?!” “Y/N’s my best friend. She tells me everything,” says Chen. “Baekhyun confided in me with this information,” says Minseok. Baekhyun coughs as if offended by something. Minseok rolls his eyes and speaks again. “I guess we’re like best friends too.” “What?” says Chanyeol out of breath. He seems to be taking the news really badly. “I- uh, I need to use the restroom.” With that he storms to the restroom, leaving us in awe. “I’ll go check up on him,” says Chen. Chen walks over to where Chanyeol headed. I untangle myself from Baekhyun’s embrace and make my way to where Minseok is at. I pull out a chair and slump down as I put my head in my hands and let out a huge sigh. This could not have gone any worse. As I think about how to fake my own death, I hear the chair next to scrape against the floor and feel an arm around me. “Are you okay?” asks Baekhyun softly. I lift my head up and look at him aggravatingly. “Am I okay? What do you think Baekhyun!? I told you this was going to happen! You should have never said anything,” I yell at him. “Then when?!” he yells back. “What?” “When will we tell people about us? I don’t want to keep this a secret forever! It was going to happen sooner or later and I chose sooner.” “This isn’t only about you, Baekhyun! This is my relationship too! You should also have my consent when you want to tell people about us.” “YOU-” “SHUT UP!” interrupts Minseok. We both look at him quietly and it seems like he’s blowing steam. “Shut. Up. Stop fighting. I’m too drunk and tired for this,” he says. We blink at him, too scared to say anything. He notices he has our attention so he continues. “Baekhyun, you should have consulted with Y/N first before blabbing about your relationship. Y/N you can’t keep it to yourselves forever. You have to consider Baekhyun’s feelings too. Now that it’s settled. Shut up and make up.” We’re both still in frozen shock, staring back at Minseok. He seems to notice and rolls his eye before barking “NOW!” We both jump and turn towards each other. “I’m sorry,” I mumble. “I’m sorry too,” Baekhyun says back. “Can we please just keep this relationship between people that we really trust?” I say. Baekhyun gives me a disappointed look before I add, “at least until we become more serious.” He then smiles and nods his head fast, like a puppy. I laugh and lean in to give him a kiss. He smirks into the kiss before a cough interrupts us. We back away to see Chen looking down at us. “Umm, Y/N can I talk to you?” “Yeah,” I mutter. I untangle myself from Baekhyun’s embrace and get up to follow Chen to a more secluded part of the bar. “What’s up? Where’s Chanyeol?” I ask worriedly. “He left.” “He left?!” “Yeah.” “Why?” “Because he likes you.” “Wh-what?” “That’s why he took the news rather oddly. He told me that he liked you since the first day at the hospital. He couldn’t stand to see you and Baekhyun together so he left.” “Crap. Do you think he’s going to tell people?” I ask. Chen’s brows furrow. “Are you kidding me? That’s not what’s important right now. What you really have to worry about is how Chanyeol’s feeling and how you're going to make it up to him.” “You’re right. I’m being selfish right now.” Chen places a comforting hand on my shoulder and sighs. “It’s fine. I’m sure he’ll forgive you and everything will go back to normal.” “I sure hope so.”

A/N: Well, tell me what you think. Send me messages, I love when you all send me stuff.
