Gotta say, I don't think I could trust anyone who's still hating on Kaman by the final ep of Scavengers Reign.
(Vague spoilers but for real watch the show first then read!)
The thing about actually adult stories is that they don't simplify the very complex, often unforseen realities of living. He's not some stock cartoon villain, he’s just a guy. Like everyone else in the show, Kaman is a guy with problems who cannot and could not predict where his actions would lead. Just as Sam is not innocent, neither is Kamen the only one at fault.
So anyone just blanket hating on Kaman for being a fuckup seems like the sort of person unwilling to consider that everyone fucks up sometimes.

Me: Hey, uh, has anyone else noticed Kamen seems actually scared of his wife sometimes?
Everyone: Yeah, fuck that guy! He did a thing he didn't know would result in that much damage on purpose! Fuck him!

Don't mind me, just on my usual bs of falling into liking the characters that people tend to only read surface interpretations of again. :D But for real, I think Fiona and Kamen were real bad for each other and not because it was somehow all his fault (it takes two to tango y'know?). Poor bastard is literally on his knees begging and afraid while she glares down at him more than once. That framing is intentional. She is also just pretty casually mean to him, like, constantly. The only time we see her smile is that brief scene of them in bed and immediately after she's pissed that he has to go do his job during an emergency. Kamen's obviously no saint but I think Fiona is nowhere near saintly herself.

God right?! Every time she's on screen I am SO distressed, like hair standing on end upset. But also what the hell happened to make her so Like That?! o_o
i need there to be a scavengers reign season 2 so i can see more of kris being the most awful person alive

Like, I'm not the only one who low key thought Chris found an offshoot of the Third House, right? Also in the Discord it occurred to me that if Chris is a lichter that would explain so much about why she's Like That. :D
I'm obsessed with Scavenger's Reign now and wrote a couple of fics. Both post-canon, one about Hollow and one where Azi and Ursula discuss Kamen's presence in the settlement.
#scavengersreign is a rare bird, a shooting star. I was lucky enough to see it inside, work on it. Now it's re-released, let's keep this anomaly shining.
it has come to my attention that people who love Scavenger's Reign don't know about Scavengers, the short that started it all, and it's also great and worth a watch

Scavenger's Reign is out on Netflix TODAY! It's a gorgeous, thoughtful, mature, and wildly creative show about survivors marooned on an untamed alien planet, and it has instantly become one of my all-time favorite pieces of sci-fi.
If you have any interest in science fiction at all and are geographically capable of doing so, I am BEGGING you to watch it. The first season stands alone as a beautiful piece of storytelling, but I am so curious to see where it would go with a second season.
