Setsuna - Tumblr Posts
This is one of my favourite posts đ«â€
Kagura Mom Connections: Everytime thereâs new evidence, I like to make an updated list. I wish I could have included more pictures, but tumblr has a 10 pic limit. Keep in mind that I likely forgot some details, but these are the main points that indicate Kaguraâs relation to the twins. Moreover, as a Naraku incarnation, itâs theoretically possible for her to pass on his genes, which is something that I explain in detail down below âșïž
Hair:
When we first meet kid Towa, she had a very Kagura-esque ponytail, which I think is an important distinction to make since we know the mother is someone from the main character line up, and unlike everyone else, Kaguraâs hairstyle is uniquely hers. For Rin, she has a signature side pigtail that weâve never seen the twins possess.
As for Setsuna, we can clearly see that her kid hair doesnât really match either options, but as she got older, her hair was worn in a high-ponytail. Initially, a lot of shippers believed her hair to be âwispyâ like Rinâs, but as we can see with the official holiday image, her hair is actually straight like Sesshomaruâs.
And because Setsuna has largely been depicted with a ponytail rather than a low bun (her initial hair style) or side pigtail, I do think itâs important to note that both Toga and Naraku have been shown to wear ponytails, as well as Byakuya whoâs another Naraku incarnation. However, Iâm aware that there are other Inuyasha characters with ponytails (both high and low), so this particular hairstyle isnât something exclusive to the aforementioned males. Meaning, itâs not something as distingushiable as Kaguraâs and Rinâs hair designs.
Color Scheme:
Towaâs color scheme is pretty obvious. She definitely matches her dad (white and red), but in the ending song, I do think itâs interesting that her character slide has blue. Setsunaâs color scheme fits more in line with Naraku and his incarnations. Plus, her character slide in the ending has purple. Both of which are colors that have always been associated with Naraku (same for red).
Rinâs color is orange and that has remained pretty constant for the past 20 years. Even with the releasal of Yashahime, all of her promotional items include orange (sometimes yellow). Neither of which have been shown on the twins. Now, during the Final Act she is given a purple kimono from Sesshomaru, however, thereâs still two primary issues:
1) Her color scheme has never been updated to include purple, meaning sheâs still associated with orange. We see this in Inuyasha, and we still see it in Yashahime with her promotional merch.
2) In the first episode of Yashahime, sheâs actually retconned into her iconic orange kimono that weâve always associated with eight year old Rin. A very interesting decision, since sheâs actually eleven in that scene and should have actually been wearing that purple kimono. Clearly, the intention was to either remind you of her age or stress the importance of the color schemes (probably both). The reasoning is likely related to the children of this series and their color schemes matching with their guardians (not exclusivly their birth parents).
Red = Inuyasha and Moroha; Kagome also has red in her miko garbs
Pink/Green = Gyokuto and Sango
Green = Hisui, Sango, and Kohaku (he took care of hisui, and is likely considered more of a parent figure than Miroku).
Green = Kinâu and Sango
White/Red = Towa and Sesshomaru
Blue/Purple = Setsuna and Kagura (as a Naraku incarnation, sheâs always been associated with blue, red, and purple. Her kimono literally contains blue and red, whereas Narakuâs garbs contain either blue or purple (sometimes both). The point being that Kaguraâs color scheme directly relates to the twins as she quite literally wears and is associated with the same colors that make up their palette (same for Naraku and his other incarnations).
Even when the girls were four, their kimonos didnât contain any orange, so not only does Rinâs hair not match the girls, but even her color scheme doesnât match. Personally, both of these design choices (hair/color) would have been the easiest and most obvious way to connect Rin to the girls, yet the parallels werenât made (and likely for a good reason). đ€·đœââïž
Eye color:
Towa has red eyes. The same as Naraku and Kagura. Iâve seen theories about the eye color coming from Sesshomaruâs demon markings, but there are way too many issues there:
1) Thatâs not how basic biology works. Thatâs comparable to me saying my hypothetical yellow freckles will cause my daughter to have yellow eyes. Freckles â eye color, similar to how demon markings â eye color.
2) Weâve never seen a character in Inuyasha or Yashahime inherit their eye color from their parentsâ demon markings. In fact, the existence of Sesshomaru pretty much debunks the notion. He literally inherited his parentsâ yellow eyes and the color of his motherâs demon markings, which would imply that demon markings = demon markings and eye color = eye color. Even Inuyasha has the eye color of both his parents. Yellow to match Togaâs and brown to match Izayoiâs on his human night. Moreover, weâve now seen Setsuna with her demon markings and theyâre a perfect mix of Togaâs design with Sesshomaruâs color, so I highly doubt the twins have inherited their eye colors from Sesshâs demon markings.
3) All of the other kids in Yashahime have eye colors that match their parents. Morohaâs matches Kagomeâs and when she uses her rouge, it matches Inuyashaâs. Hisuiâs matches his parents, etc. More reason to not believe the demon markings = eye color theory.
Setsunaâs eye color matches Byakuyaâs (Naraku incarnation). Since Kagura is already made from Narakuâs maturing parts (flesh), I think it would be possible for her to pass off his wanky genes. Meaning, if she is the mom, then sheâd be able to give her kids red, purple, or black eyes as all of his incarnations possess either or. Itâs what we realistically call, âskipping a generation,â and would explain why itâs possible for two blue eyed parents to have one brown eyed kid.
*itâs also a good way to make the mother a mystery since the choice wouldnât be too obvious*
*Also note the similar widowâs peak she has to Byakuyaâs*
Powers/Weapons:
Towa uses a sword, more specifically an energy blade, which we clearly know is a direct callback to Sesshomaru. However, what I do find interesting is how she has an affinity to Tokijin rather than Bakusaiga (a sword made from himself). Tokijin is a sword forged from Goshinkiâs fang. Goshinki being another Naraku incarnation. Sesshomaru is 99% of the time shown to use his blue dragon attack while wielding Tokijin, which would imply that itâs a main attack linked to that blade. However, he does do this move once while wielding Tensaiga in the 3rd episode of the Final Act. Personally, I donât think that detracts away from the main point, since he still never uses it with Bakusaiga or by himself (no swords). Towaâs blue dragon serves as symbolism for Sesshomaru, and since he mainly uses that attack while weilding Tokijin, I think thatâs another large connection to Naraku and Goshinki. Furthermore, she also has the ability to absorb demonic energy through her blade, which is interesting because I donât recall Sesshomaru ever being able to do that. However, Naraku has always been known for his absorbtion abilities, which again, is another symbolic node to grandpa Raku.
Setsuna fights with a naginata and the only other character known for doing the same is Hakudoshi (another Naraku incarnation). She also has wind based abilities that matches with Kaguraâs and imagery that includes moths/insects (Naraku is associated with insects since he can control Saimyosho and Byakuya has been described to look similar to a moth yokai). Also important to remember that the puppy family doesnât have wind powers and have never been associated with wind.
*Sidenote: Setsuna having dream problems can also be a callback to Byakuya as heâs called Byakuya of the dream/illusion.*
*Another Sidenote: Towa was literally seen wearing the infantâs robe (Naraku incarnation containing his actual heart). Hakudoshi, which means white child, was made from the infant after he was split in two, so thatâs yet another Naraku callback.*
Immunities:
Towa is immune to miasma and Setsuna is immune to venom. Sesshomaru is immune to both, however, I still find it interesting that the show decided to emphasize the girls having two seperate immunities rather than giving them the same kind or making them immune to both. It could be because theyâre fraternal, but I at least want to note that Naraku is immune to miasma himself. And as explained earlier, Kagura would be able to pass that trait off to her children if she is the mother.
Human night:
The red streak remained in Towaâs hair while she had her human night, which would imply that itâs not something demonic. Meaning, itâs not something inherited from Sesshomaru. Personally, I thought Towa looked more like Muso (another Naraku incarnation) than she did Rin, and even so, Rin doesnât have red in her hair. Kagura doesnât either, but her fan does contain two red streaks that are very similar to Setsunaâs and Towaâs. Itâs been theorized that if she was ressurected with her fan, then she might have came back with an altered design, similar to all the other rehashed demons that have appeared in Yashahime. Itâs also not impossible, since Yura is a yokai whoâs original form is that of a comb.

Kaguraâs fan and the red streaks:
Within the same episode, it was implied that Setsuna might be able to chose her human night like Naraku. Unfortunately, the recent episode didnât divulge any deeper than that, so itâs not entirely clear whether or not she can. However, the fact still remains that they made a direct connection to Naraku when addressing the twins and thatâs extremely interesting.
This isnât even including all the wind references weâve seen, both in the first and tenth episode. The lake being referred to as a âmirrorâ (look at Kanna in the above image). The butterfly having an hourglass mark on itâs bottom, which relates back to spiders (Naraku). The butterfly woman having spiders in her design, and Naraku having a butterfly pattern in his kimono (see the pic below). The fan imagery in Setsunaâs character slide in the ending. The loops in Towaâs that matches with the loops in both Kaguraâs and Narakuâs kimonos. The parallels between SessKagu in Towaâs and Setsunaâs relationship. Thereâs probably even more that I havenât addressed, and likely wonât be able to, since Tumblr has a limit. The point is, thereâs a lot of Kagura and Naraku symbolism in both this sequel and in the twins. The only thing Rin can contribute is being a human, which is already looking shaky, since Hanyou has been used as an umbrella term in this sequel. We saw this with Moroha when she was considered a hanyou by Treekiyo. To me, this would imply that itâs possible for the twins to actually be 3/4 despite the showâs persistent â1/2â nonsense. Red herring maybe đ€.

Everyone in the fandom upset and worried because they assume Kagome is dead or sealed in the tree just because she didnât show up in the poster: WHERE IS KAGOME??
Kagome waking up late cause she hung over again: Shit. Did I forget to take the poster shoot?

In this house, we stan this family đđ
I'm tired. Itâs the first time in a while that I draw so many characters together...and yes! It's kinda based on the second op.
[Don't repost!]
You know, it isn't a surprise that Setsuna is the one that most resemble Sesshomaru. If she was training with her father all this time between the events of the forest fire and prior the events Yashahime...It's have sense she would mimitic her father's behavior, specially if that would makes her stronger.
Of course, with this I don't mean "Sesshomaru is a bad parent. He teach Setsuna to keeping her feelings for herself!!!".
I want to clarrific it since sadly it's pretty commun to blame parents and end the discussion there without looking at both sides of the coin đ¶.
1) If this was part of Sesshomaru's plan or not...it doesn't change the fact that his family is "broken". I don't think he wasn't affected in someway.
2) He can't be soft with his only remain daugther. If he does, she wouldn't survive in this word. Unirronically, it isn't a fairy tail. If he didn't propely train her she would had die.
3) Unlike Inuyasha and Kagome that had allies (actually friends) in which they could trust....Sesshomaru have no one. I mean, aside of Jaken and Rin, he only âtrustâ Inuyasha and his friends...but they were involved too and probably out of the village. They couldn't take care of her and I don't think Sesshomaru would leave Setsuna in such vulnerable state in a human village.
OOF, this post become longer than what I expected. Anyway, those are my thoughts right now. I can't wait to have the whole picture about Setsuna's childhood...and I'm sure I'll cry.
It's OK dear, mama's here now.

Overall, Iâm happy with the outcome. Idk about anyone else, but it gives me Star Wars poster vibes. đ
