“peeta’s lifelong obsession with katniss was super creepy” have none of you ever had a crush? have you never even heard of a kid having a long term crush? that began when they were little and was reignited on and off over the years? do you guys realize we’re talking about two teenagers who have been in the same classroom five days a week since they were kindergarteners? katniss may not mention it much but they were in close proximity with each other for their entire childhood. it’s not like peeta saw her once and held onto that image of a five year girl forever, he was literally sitting across the room from her constantly.
and the real kicker is peeta himself says he didn’t let the crush on katniss stop him from getting interested in other girls. does that sound like some crazy obsession? no. he flat out had a crush on a pretty, mysterious, standoffish girl that he figured would never be interested in him. anything else is either fanon (because yes, lots of people like the idea that he was solely committed to only the idea of katniss his whole life and nothing else) or something the movie botched (the cave confession is hauntingly bad and honestly, josh doesn’t help the case. he very much goes along with the implication the movies made of peeta having no identity outside his crush on katniss).
