ok but here me out…
Nevada gave California a silver ring and California gave Nevada a gold one
so they can have a piece of the thing that brought them there (the gold/silver rush)
they both still have it even if they did end up breaking up bc it holds fond memories
I imagine California being very sentimental so he probably has his on a necklace and still wears it on occasion bc it’s pretty
