Sprites - Tumblr Posts
Was replaying the original Bowser’s Inside Story earlier. God, I forgot how much I love the sprites in that game. They’re so expressive and fun!
Like, you got Bowser doing this big toothy smug grin

There’s Mario and Luigi posing like absolute dorks

There’s Luigi dropping his hat and just staring at it like “fuk”

There’s Bowser’s sprites from when he appears in the crystal ball(and oh my god the friggin sneer sprites are amazing)

You got all those wonderful smear frames

And I dare you to look me in the eyes and tell me that this face isn’t wonderful

SERIOUSLY
LOOK AT HIM
HE’S ALL POUTY AND GRUMPY
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

Name: POW Pep, DEF Pep, and SPEED Pep
Debut: Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
Look at these things. Such incredibly simple designs. And boy howdy, do I love it! Just an absolute sucker for simple designs over here! Can’t get lost in THESE designs! Unless you count getting lost in their beautiful eyes… wait, where am I?
As you can see, the Peps are a Terrific Trio. There’s the POW Pep, who’s got beefy arms to punch with, and can fuse with other enemies to increase their strength.
Next is DEF Pep, who really doesn’t attack at all, and just sits there being an orb until it fuses with an enemy to increase its defense.
Finally, there’s SPEED Pep, with legs for dashing around, and even tripping the Mario Bros! Like that blue character who goes fast… what was his name… Oh yeah! Dankey Kang. SPEED Pep is the only Pep that does not fuse with enemies to boost stats, because it simply does not have the time. Also, it has a dorsal fin or something.
Peps are especially important to me because they helped me in science class, kind of! I first played Bowser’s Inside Story when I was a wee one, and then when I had my first biology class, and we were learning about proteins… which are held together by PEPtide bonds! But that’s not all! Let’s go over some of the key functions of proteins…

Providing structure and support to strengthen cells and tissues!

Protecting the body from infection!

Providing energy and transporting molecules!
I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but there you have it. Funny Jumping Man Game is educational! But you should still go to school though, probably. Just in case there’s anything Mario hasn’t covered yet.

Name: Sniffle Thwomp
Debut: Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
On the last day of Thwompsgiving, my true love gave to me… a sick Thwomp. That’s not a very good gift! I hope it’s not contagious!
Right off the bat this thing is weird. Thwomps are made of rock, right? Well, I guess they have immune systems anyway! And sinuses. And mucus. I guess if you’re gonna give a rock a functioning face, you have to go all the way.
Besides the typical Thwomp Stomp attack (I made up that name just now), Sniffle Thwomp has some cool moves at its disposal!
For example, it can… sneeze on its opponent. It makes him sick.
But that’s not all! It can… faint. And then a bunch of Shy Guys need to carry it.
Also, it constantly takes damage, and this damage increases if its adorable little ice pack is removed.
Geez. This is just sad. Why are we fighting this thing? To put it out of its misery?
…have a happy Thwompsgiving, everyone. Please stay warm this winter. Don’t get the sniffles. It’s far worse than you could imagine. And if you do, don’t sneeze on Bowser. It’s rude.

Name: Piranha Plorp
Debut: Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
Have you ever sat in biology class, learning about anatomy, and thought, boy, I really wish I had a carnivorous plant-shaped vein in my body that spits acid? That would really spice things up! Search no longer my friend, because… this! This is that thing!

Yeah, even though nothing in Bowser’s Inside Story is explicitly gory… this has too much of a resemblance to a real human heart! I can just feel the meat! Well, not that that isn’t pretty cool in its own right! But it makes up for that by having a very silly name like “Piranha Plorp”. And wiggling around the way it does. Man, idle animations are always made better with some wiggles, don’t you think? Take notes, Game Freak!
Well, despite looking like a heart or maybe a vein, this thing doesn’t have any relation to blood! Rather, they’re found in Bowser’s intestine, and all their abilities relate to poison or acid. I think it’s pretty safe to say they help with digesting stuff, which would actually make them more like the symbiotic bacteria living in our stomach! Yeah, we all joke about how wacky Bowser’s insides are, but there’s a whole ecosystem of Little Fellas living inside of you, too! And they’ll be there for you when no one else is. Isn’t that wonderful?
But, I really gotta know… what is that hole that Piranha Plorp comes out of? ‘Cause I don’t like it.
So while looking at Fawful’s BIS sprites I found a set that’s called “Presenting Bowser”

Like I know the sprites are used when Fawful’s doing his little show and launches Bowser onto the stage but when I read the name my first thought was just
Fawful opens up his hand and there’s a tiny Bowser figurine inside

Idle battle sprites - Bowser’s Inside Story

Was doing lil sprites for bosses for my soulslike project and finished this dude
Called him Ruin God, Saebald
I'll add his weapon later
One of the more difficult bosses of my soulslike.

Dawnbringer Apostle, Sahali
The game is being called Tower of Stig for now, a boss blitz!

Tiny Plants’ Spirit Folk - compilation 4 (ink + gouache)

Not only does he have a name now; but also a weapon.
