Maybe this is me being picky, a bitch, or just using braincells but this didn't make sense on so many points???????!!!!!! You want me to believe Osha, who witnessed the deaths of the Jedi, INCLUDING HER FRIENDS JECKI AND YORD, right in front of her in the most BRUTAL WAYS, realized her sister had been/was being manipulated by Qimir, who got basically kidnapped by him, THIS OSHA, would go hand in hand off into the sunset with the man who murdered her friends right after she choked her master to death and they wiped the memory of her twin sister after finally finding her after years thinking she lost everyone and leave said AMNESIC sister into the hands of people she thinks are awful ?????
AM I GENUINELY TRIPPING ???????!!!
Don't even get me started on the Vernestra stuff because- Sol was not the only one on Brendok. They were 4. 4 damn people. One went into exile, one took the vow of silence, one didn't seem that affected by it (hello she was the one saying they should cover it up) and Sol did his very best to train Osha for YEARS. He wanted her and Mae to be safe. He tried to save them both and it backfired. Did he go about it the right way ? No. Did he deserve to die for it ? Definitely not.
Sol did try to redeem himself, tried to be the best teacher and parental figure he could be for Osha, taught younglings to not be like him (visible in the lesson he's giving, also he was the only one back to teaching, JUST SAYING) and there's no point in denying that. He thought Mother Aniseya was going to kill Mae. His heart got the best of him and he acted without knowing what was happening. But don't you dare try to say they went there to "steal children" because this wasn't the damn point of the MISSION. They have been seent to EXPLORE the planet, not to STEAL CHILDREN, or MURDER PEOPLE.
Their actions were not the best, yes, but there is no need to make it seems like it was part of a "grand plan" or even more messed up.
What happened was a kid tired of spending time on a planet for god knows what was starting to get restless and a man worried about two CHILDREN, thinking something terrible was about to happen with two other people trying to shut them down messed up big time.
The miscommunication caused all of this, this could have been avoided if everyone involved TALKED.
And what was the point of making the "twins" reunite only to wipe Mae's memory and do ANOTHER cover up??? Like my sister in the Force, WHAT THE HELL ????
Mae's character, the growth, realizing he should go and be judged for his crimes, her character was beautifully written and to just end this like that: this disminish her character, Sol's character, Jecki's, Yord's and all the others.
Osha snapping after learning the truth, I can understand it, but would she just go like this? Full darkside and believe the man who manipulated her twin, killed her friends and all to just run off into the sunset with him? Would she go that easily with him????
This genuinely feels like a fanfiction someone wanted to end quickly, no matter how far off the ending and characters seemed. But, with Leslye saying she loves "enemies to lovers", I'm not surprised she did this, just heavily disappointed.
If the Jedi are this bad... Why leave an amnesic Mae with them then?
Mae, Sol, Yord, Jecki, Torbin... They all didn't deserve this. If you have to kill two potential love interests (Jecki & Yord) + downplay the villain's actions to make sure your ship (Oshamir) happens, then there is an issue here.
How in the Hell becoming a Sith and going on a rampage is liberating? Genuinely, how is that good and freeing?
Haven't you guys watched the prequels??? And Anakin's downfall???
This series was so good, genuinely great with beautiful decors, scenes, fighting choreography etc and it just... It feels like an empty ending. Idk what she thought she did with this but this ain't it.
Again, this is just my rant about it, you don't have to like it. If you loved this episode, then good for you! Congrats!! I loved the show, I really did. Until episode 5. Then it just went downhill.
Killing Palpatine is catch 22 of sorts: you have to have a plan capable of taking Palpatine by surprise, but such a plan would likely alert Palpatine either through the force, or through whatever spy network or mundane security measures Palpatine has in place.
But Palpatine, like any force user, should be vulnerable to physical harm that can bypass the force. Darth Vader's level of force power is unique and even then Darth Vader can be taken down through skillful application of tactics.
So I have to agree, Palpatine is physically easy to kill, the problem is getting past Palpatine's defences.
one thing I find interesting is how easy palatine would be to assassinate. in single combat you'd likely lose, but sneak a bomb on his ship? or a droid suicide bomber? even palpatine can't survive the vacuum of space
Okay, so this is my head canon and I have no idea how many people agree with it, but--
I think Palpatine is easy to kill, period. I know why as a story concept he needed to be strong enough to fight off a bunch of the best Jedi in single combat in RotS, but like, when does this man train? You think Palpatine sweats? You think he works hard when he can take the easy way out? You think he has a bunch of beefy, overqualified killing machines as his apprentices because he's not scared of them being better than him?
Fuck no.
Palpatine is devious, charismatic, clever, manipulative, and unscrupulous. He's just good enough at combat to keep those under him in awe. The rest is smoke and mirrors, being prepared, and having no lower bound for how cruel he is. He doesn't fight anyone at their peak strength. He breaks you down mentally and emotionally and when he can physically before you even get to him. Before you make your first strike.
His entire plan for the destruction of the Jedi Order and usurpation of the Republic revolves around setting up elaborate schemes where his "allies" and enemies kill each other. This isn't just for fun. It's not just for the politics. It's because if he had to fight for more than two minutes together, he'd be a wheezing, sobbing mess on the floor. You think he wants a planet destroying space station because he likes giving his minions nice toys? No. That's his major project, his giant space laser. Vader is the one who asserts the Force is enough that they don't need the Death Star. Palpatine immediately builds a second one. A bigger one. Like that will make a difference or something.
The difficulty in killing Palpatine is a) realizing he's the main villain not just some harmless old man, b) catching him off guard so he doesn't have time to remind you of your dying wife and how you failed to save your mother or whatever other traumatic shit he can throw at you, c) catching him away from whatever more competent bodyguards he keeps to wear you out or distract you, and d) exposing him as a villain publicly so that when you kill him you aren't accused of treason (or you know, kill him after he's outed himself and there's a whole rebel faction behind you).
Darth Vader literally picks this man up with one hand and a wrist stub and throws him into a hole. Vader is actively dying of electrocution and suffocation and kills Palpatine. Vader was just taken down by his own son, and he had enough oomph to kill Sidious.
I'll buy that Palpatine is as resistant to blaster fire as any Jedi who's decent with a lightsaber. So many normal mooks would have a tough time of it. But like, canonically so many of the Jedi are killing by enough clones shooting at them at the same time. So it's not off the table.
A running theme about star wars is that one should never take what a Jedi says at face value.
For example, in the OT, Luke redeemed Vader and defeated Palpatine by NOT FOLLOWING Yoda and Obi Wan's advice.
The Jedi Suck
That is the entire premise of the Prequel Trilogy.
The Republic fell because too few were willing to fight for its principles.
The Jedi were, for better or worse, the lapdogs of the corrupted Republic.
It is arguable as to how the Jedi sucked during the prequel era, but to argue that the Jedi did not suck at all would be to fly in the face of the premise of the entire prequel trilogy.
