It is a prevalent trend that Governments do not persecute criminals because they are criminals themselves, so they target the victims because the victims can't fight back.

The Jedi have proven that trend by their actions.

The Jedi order sleep when the Hutts be doing fuckshit and smuggling drugs and mfs. But god forbid a mf named Sheev do some sith magic and carry that mf thang on him. They priorities all fucked up and y’all wonder why people ain’t rocking with them. Dawg nobody care what Sheev do, how about y’all crack down on the smuggling problem y’all have

"Something that I think is fascinating about Tarre Vizla is how the mandalorians (and mando stans) just do not care about who he was".

Maybe the Mandos see Tarre Vizla as a traitor.

Maybe the Mandos consider the darksaber a purely mandalorian weapon since it was made with mandalorian materials.

So the Mandos are more concerned with the Darksaber than Tarre Vizla.

Reblogging because of the chinese at the end

Obi Wan is Asian coded because he takes inspiration from Indian and Chinese Buddhists and is based off Jewish people as well, he is very friendly to Muslims as well, that being said as a Black British Jewish Genderfluid person living in London, how dare you of accusing me being a “straight white male” in the last post I made calling obi wan “Asian coded and a ally of lgbtq people” which he is btw, his character is based off Poc people, and you’re taking the piss if you think otherwise.

OK nonny, I'm making an exception for you from my Delete and Block rule this second time.

Of course Obi Wan is a friend to all living things. All Mary Sues are! Its a common trope.

Don't even try pulling the "offensive" card on me, dude. It is you people weaponized the Mary Sue and made it onto an sexist slur to begin with. You have zero right to call it offensive when its applied to your fave. I'm using it in the correct sense to mean a character who has no flaws and is perfect.

George Lucas once said in an interview that he did not want any real world religions in Star Wars. I can understand why George Lucas didn't want real world religions to exist in any recognizable form in his work, he said it was because he didn't want to be seen as biased towards any one religion I think.

That is not to say that he didn't base stuff off real world religions, he did. Inspiration though is different from directly inserting stuff into a story. That's the beauty of fiction. Authors can use lots of different things for inspiration, but the end result can be a mixture of different inspirations and something totally new and unique.

Ergo, Woobie-Wan may be based on a couple of different religions, but those religions do not exist, in the form we know them exactly in the Star Wars universe. To say that he is "friendly to Muslims" is a ludicrous statement, because there are no Muslims and Jews in Star Wars. Nor are there any Hindus, Christians, Mormons or anything else.

This isn't me saying this, its Lucas. And don't give me that "Tuskens are Muslims" crap. That is as racist as fuck because it is tantamount to saying the Middle East is 100% Islamic and always has been. When you say that, you are erasing non-Muslim indigenous minorities such as the Yazidis, Copts, Zoroastrians and others in the Middle East and Africa. You are doing the terrorist's job for them.

Never mind that Woobie's only dealings with Tuskens, in canon, is to scare one away with a Krayt dragon noise. Don't even mention that dreadful comic to me, which makes him a hideous Mary Sue and vilifies Owen Lars.

This is an Owen Lars friendy zone, and no vilification of him will be tolerated here.

Obi Wan Is Asian Coded Because He Takes Inspiration From Indian And Chinese Buddhists And Is Based Off

Similarly, saying Woobie-Wan is an "ally" to a group who are not represented or do not directly exist in Universe is ludicrous. They were literally banned from including ANY LGBT characters in Star Wars until 2003. and even then they hardly jumped at the change for representation. Woobie-Wan is not an ally, because there were no gay people for him to ally with, in canon. Karen Traviss was the first author to include an openly gay character in any Star Wars material, and she's the most hated SW author today. Says a lot.

Therefore, any "coding" that exists is that which you have read into to the story. You might not be a straight white male, but Obi Wan very much IS. He's been played by two straight white male actors respectively. He as an aristorcratic white girlfriend with Posh British accent.

As far as coding and inspiration goes, you have another problem. It can apply just a much to other characters, and is not exclusive to Woobie-Wan. Anakin's story is based very heavily on Jewish and Christian tradition. Lucas even admitted it. Virgin birth, a slave in a desert, "The Chosen One" narrative. Although there are some pagan religions who have virgin birth stories as well. Shmi Skywalker either has a Hebrew name, or as is more commonly thought, the name of a Hindu goddess Lakshmi. "Ben is a Hebrew name" is the basis of your entire Jewish coded theory for Woobie-Wan isn't it? (Never mind that millions of people who have the name Ben aren't Jewish. I have a Hebrew name, but sadly I'm not Jewish.)

Well, Anakin's mother has a Hebrew/Hindu name, so what does that make him? Oh, what's more his childhood best friend Kitster was played by a boy of South Asian heritage, Dhruv Chanchani.

Obi Wan Is Asian Coded Because He Takes Inspiration From Indian And Chinese Buddhists And Is Based Off

The marriage of Padme and Anakin draws inspiration from Hindu Mythology @padme-amitabha can tell you more about that, as well as ancient Eygptian Mythology. In real life, Natalie Portman is Jewish, in Universe she has a Japanese name. That's enough to conclude she's "Asian coded" in this fandom.

Ah yes, this is the point where you start crying foul "Anakin isn't Asian coded! He's an evil white dude!"

Ohhhh, I see. So the character is only "Asian and gay coded"when you like them, right? Characters you hate are all white and straight.

Obi Wan Is Asian Coded Because He Takes Inspiration From Indian And Chinese Buddhists And Is Based Off

This coding thing is subjective, then. A matter of personal interpretation. Always has been. Well then you have no basis for going around, screaming at other people and demanding they accept your subjective viewpoint.

Sounds a lot like you are just using this crap to justify worshipping a character who your brain and reason tells you is straight and white. Listen to your reason. Its all subjective anyway, so I really an not required to accept any of it. If it makes you happy, fine, but subjective things do not require anyone else to accept them.

I can show you Lucas quotes showing Anakin isn';t the most evil being in the universe, and is the victim, but you won't find any saying Woobie Wan is Asian, LGBT coded, nor a tragic hero. Just let it go.

To be fair:

The destruction of the Jedi Order was less a genocide and more of a religious conflict that the Jedi lost. The Jedi Order is a sect of the collective religious culture of 'Force Users,' and their destruction cannot really be considered genocide as the cultural group of 'Force Users' still exists albeit heavily restricted and controlled by the Sith during the Empire Era.

Secondly:

The entire point of the Prequel trilogy was that the Jedi contributed to their destruction. Their wilful ignorance, isolation, and insulation from the corruption of the Republic they insisted on protecting, to the point the Jedi Council, for example, caused a schism in the Order because they insisted that Jedi Masters act as Generals for the Clone Army regardless of the individual Jedi Master's wishes, led the Jedi to become entirely isolated and perhaps hated by the Republic they had sworn to protect.

Order 66 and the sacking of the Temple were executed to the surprise of the Jedi, and no Jedi was present when Sidious became Emperor of the Galaxy. No one, save for a few Senators like Organa, protected the Jedi when they fell, and during the Rebellion Era, even Organa himself did not approach the surviving Jedi to aid in the fight against the Empire. Somehow, the Jedi even managed to alienate their chosen one and drove him to the dark side, allowing Sidious to turn the Jedi's greatest weapon against themselves.

The Jedi bubbled themselves up and the Council refused to face the problems that faced their beloved Republic until it is too late. Palpatine exploited their ignorance, but it was the Jedi who were ignorant themselves in the first place. That was the lesson of the Prequel Trilogy, speak out and speak loud so that the people are aware and always ready to fight against corruption and oppression.

I've seen a lot of posts on my feed lately that have, in some way shape or form, said "the story of the Jedi is tragic cause the Jedi caused their own genocide" followed by a list of just...stuff that's either untrue or the other option would've been worse in that game of roulette that Palpatine set up specifically to force the Jedi to make questionable decisions and wear them down with the weight of them. (Untagged posts btw, if you're gonna post shit along these lines please for the love of fuck tag it "Jedi critical," there are tags for a reason)

So I'm here to outline why that's complete and utter bullshit in one easy, simple to understand, post! No matter what the Jedi did, or what you think they did, they did not cause their own genocide. The fault of their genocide is solely on those who chose to commit said genocide of their people and culture.

Ignoring the fact that Palpatine's entire plan, the whole point of everything that we see in the Prequels, was to kill off all of the Jedi and erase their culture--so he was gonna figure out some way to do it, with or without Anakin/the clones/Dooku/etc.

You cannot make someone commit genocide against you.

That is the stupidest argument ever.

Committing genocide is a choice, one that you actively have to make over and over again--which we see Anakin do, even long after all (or all except a measly few survivors, most of which were literal children in the Prequel-era and couldn't have possibly done anything to piss Anakin off) of the Prequel-era Jedi--aka the ones that people say "brought this on themselves"--were dead!

The Jedi Order as a whole could've been the shittiest, most repressed group of arrogant assholes the galaxy had ever seen. They could've called Anakin a whiny bitch to his face and told him that Dooku should've gone for his head instead of his arm. They could've danced on his mother's grave and had tea parties with the Tuskens.

And guess what?

They still could not have made Anakin and Palpatine commit genocide against them. It was their choice, and their choice alone.

The only people that had no choice in committing that genocide were the clones and guess who took that choice away from them? Because it certainly wasn't the fucking Jedi!

Which is hilarious because most of these posts I've seen have said something along the lines of "the Jedi used the clones as slaves," ignoring the fact that--even if that were true (and it's not)--Anakin and Palpatine used them as slaves too!

And it was so much worse when they did it because, not only were they not given a choice, they were fucking mind-controlled in order to commit genocide against their will! So they didn't even get the choice to refuse and face the consequences of that--which is an option for them during the Clone Wars, albeit a shitty one.

So no, the Jedi did not bring anything upon themselves.

Start holding Anakin responsible for his own shitty decisions, and start tagging your damn anti-Jedi and Jedi critical posts properly!

I am going to fuck off your page, but I want to put this out for the Anti-Jedi guys who might see this.

The point of the Prequel trilogy was that the rise of Palpatine was the fault of the Republic. The Republic gave up its liberties for security and got a Dictator for their troubles. Even then the Republic was not aware of what they had given up, as seen in Padme's words: 'This is how liberty dies, to thunderous applause.'

It was in the political arena, the Republic Senate, that the battle for liberty was truly fought by senators like Padme, and Organa, who opposed bills that granted Palpatine greater powers or expanded the Republic Army, and petitioned that Palpatine relinquish his emergency powers towards the end of the Clone War.

But notice that the Jedi do not participate in the pivotal political conflicts that marked the fall of the Republic. The Jedi did not oppose Palpatine on his political moves throughout the Trilogy and the Clone Wars series. When Palpatine appointed the Jedi Generals over the Clone Army, the Jedi Council served. When Ahsoka was framed and brought before a military tribunal, the Jedi Council stripped Ahsoka of her Jedi rank and threw her to the Republic Military.

Sure, the Jedi may be fighting a war, but they were not fighting all the time, and Yoda was good friends with Padme. It can't be that hard to get some updates on Senate happenings over the cantina table at breakfast.

Ultimately, the fall of the Republic in the prequels was due to the Republic giving up its liberty and allowing an Empire to rise as a result. The Jedi were simply the first in line to give up.

Points about Jedi Survivor:

The entire story is about squatters fighting each other over squatter's rights for a planet neither of the parties had any legitimate claim over;

Cal decides to act like the Prequel Era Jedi and gets almost all his friends killed;

A lot of people die because Cal wanted a planet that was of no practical use to him whatsoever;

Bode Akuna killing Cordova was an Imperial Agent killing a wanted criminal;

Cal had no authority to pursue Bode or request Bode's surrender for his killing Cordova;

Cal spends the majority of the game fighting everyone except the Empire;

Darth Vader was wasted in this game;

The High Republic Jedi was wasted in this game;

AAA games always manage to make me root for the bad guy instead of the hero;

Bode Akuna is beautiful and if I were gay ...;

Bode is a family man?! My brother in the Empire, I forgive you for not surrendering Tanelor to the Empire;

The noblest thing Cal could have done was to let Bode live with his daughter on Tanelor;

Followed closely by Cal letting the High Jedi reclaim Tanelor and leave that High Jedi to get killed by Palpatine and Darth Vader;

Cal has gotten mad sus since Fallen Order;

The Jedi Suck

That is the entire premise of the Prequel Trilogy.

The Republic fell because too few were willing to fight for its principles.

The Jedi were, for better or worse, the lapdogs of the corrupted Republic.

It is arguable as to how the Jedi sucked during the prequel era, but to argue that the Jedi did not suck at all would be to fly in the face of the premise of the entire prequel trilogy.

A running theme about star wars is that one should never take what a Jedi says at face value.

For example, in the OT, Luke redeemed Vader and defeated Palpatine by NOT FOLLOWING Yoda and Obi Wan's advice.

The Jedi Suck

i think the Jedi-Positive and Jedi-Critical stances can be summed up on whether you value authorial intent or authorial execution.

Most of the Jedi-Positive people I follow quote George Lucas and director commentaries to prove their points, as well as utilize analyses from others at LucasFilm that have to keep the general status quo. It's all based on what Lucas was trying to portray, while ignoring the product in execution.

The Jedi-Critical stance tends to look at the prequel execution, and they question the obvious uncomfortable moments that have real-life parallels to atrocities. They tend to be more Legends fans, whose writers actually delved into the terrifying implications. It's all on criticizing execution while disregarding intent.

Like, take the argument about Jedi children. A Jedi-Positive person would argue that all the children are all given up with consent from their parents; this is what I am sure Lucas was intending to portray. A Jedi-Critical person will look at this and go "wait. how much 'consent' was in this encounter? the government can legally take these kids and have a representative show up to a farmer's house and tell the farmer they can technically say no? that is some bullshit." And there is real-life evidence for this. It's more on the execution.

Or the argument about love. Jedi-Positive people turn to Lucas's interview to show that they really meant it in the Buddhist sense, and if you value intent that works. Jedi-Critical people would argue that the marketing states that the Jedi cannot love, and nothing in the movies states that the Jedi meant non-toxic love when they eschew attachments.

They're both valid positions, but I think a lot of fandom brutality comes from not understanding either view, or demeaning one view in favor of another. It's perfectly acceptable to value one over the other.
