One of Eddie’s favorite things to do is to gently trace all the moles and freckles on Steve’s back til he falls asleep.
The first time he does it, Steve practically melts into the bed, Eddie whispering, “that feel nice, Stevie?”
“Mm-hmm,” Steve sighs into his pillow, slowly dozing off.
eddie would so be like “steve, my eyes are up here” and steve would say “i know” and keep staring at eddie’s mouth
steve sitting between eddies legs and leaning back against his chest and falling asleep like that because he never feels as safe as he does when he feels eddie at his back
i just love the idea of Eddie absentmindedly saying something like "i don't know, man" and Steve sharply turning around and going "what did you just call me?" and Eddie getting all flustered and sputtering, hurrying to correct himself like "baby! i meant baby!! i don't know, baby. Sweetheart." and Steve's just like "yeah, that's what I thought."
Thinking about the first time Eddie experiences how needy and clingy Steve can get.
Like, Steve drives Dustin home one day before coming straight back and the ride is only like half an hour but he practically jumps Eddie as soon as he's back bc "god that was so long! That felt like hours!"
Eddie thinks he's joking, at first. But as he slowly realizes that Steve is being serious... I think it would be the moment where Eddie decides that he's keeping Steve, forever if possible. It's probably the first time he would have felt truly and completely and unambiguously loved.
Eddie is the type of guy to lean in close to Steve and ask, "Can I tell you a secret?" And when Steve nods and leans in closer, Eddie grins wickedly and licks a wet stripe from the bottom of Steve's jaw to the top of his cheekbone. Steve doesn't even react. He just sighs, completely used to his boyfriends antics. And when he turns his head to level Eddie with an unamused stare, Eddie gently kisses his lips and says, "The secret is your fly has been down all day."
steve and eddie rough housing in the living room on christmas eve night. wayne only chuckles and shakes his head bc the trailer hasn't been this lively on christmas since eddie was a little boy.
however, he does eventually have to tell them to knock it off bc they've almost knocked the tree over twice and steve's got eddie in a headlock, demanding he say uncle, and eddie has a mouthful of steve's arm and growling like a rabid dog with no signs of letting go.
they are dating.
"Sooo..."
"Oh, god," Steve gusts, already rolling his eyes. "What now?"
Eddie, the bastard, just grins. Steve hates how smug he looks right now. It's practically nauseating, the way his smile curves up like an evil cartoon character, his dimples cutting deep into the softness of his cheeks. For all of the things Eddie does to make himself look scary and mean, Steve can only see the boyish roundness of his face and the brattiness in his big, stupid eyes, and it's all annoying.
It makes Steve want to bite him, but last time he did that, Eddie had complained for a solid week, even though he bites Steve all the time.
"Sooo," Eddie drawls again, grinning with all his teeth on display like some stupid shark. "A little birdie told me—"
"I'll kill Robin dead. I'll shave her fucking eyebrows off."
"A little birdie TOLD ME," Eddie shouts over him, practically singing now. "That you said that I was the best thing to ever happen to you."
"I'll shave her whole damn head."
"Oh, baby," Eddie swoons, theatrical and awful, his smile a mile wide. He's so goddamn annoying. "You looove meee."
"I hate you, actually."
"Sweetheart, baby, darling, love of my life," Eddie says, draping himself over Steve's back, pressing his cheek to Steve's and rubbing their faces together like a fucking dog. "You're a terrible liar. Because you really, really looove meee."
"Shut up."
"I'm the best thing that has ever happened to youuu," Eddie sings into Steve's ear, hot breath on Steve's neck, and Steve's back straightens at the feeling. He can feel the rush of blood on his face. Eddie is so goddamn annoying!
"Shut up, Ed, I swear—"
"Because, you love meee—"
Steve gives into the impulse, turns his head into Eddie's and bites the first thing he can get his teeth around, which happens to be Eddie's cheek. Eddie squawks and digs his fingers into Steve's sides, which makes Steve yelp because it tickles.
Fifteen minutes later when Robin walks through the front door, they're still wrestling on the couch, tickling and giggling and cussing each other out. They don't notice her at all, not even when she turns right back around and leaves.
Steve and Eddies first kiss is a little clumsy, a little too rough, bc Eddie tries to just go for it. He worries too much about rejection to it's more like he's trying to headbutt Steve with his mouth. Steve is just the human emodiment of the heart eyes emoji.
Eddie accidentally calls Steve baby one day. In his defense things had been hectic all day so he was really stressed and it just slipped out. He realized his mistake immediately and tries to apologize only to realize that Steve hadn’t even noticed his slip up. It caused Eddie want to get even bolder. He starts calling Steve different endearments to see if he’d notice. Soon he was only addressing Steve with pet names and Steve seemed none the wiser. Everyone else wasn’t so oblivious and made comments about this development.
