3DS Thoughts

I love the system so far and I anticipate a lot of cool/strong titles coming out for it (the main reason getting it being the games, rather than the titular 3D gimmick.. I'm still honestly happy with my DSi), but the 3D effect makes my eyes do a nauseating backflip due to my amblyopia. (it doesn't function as two distinctive vision sensors in regards to direction because my right eye follows the focused left, so my depth perception is kind of awful and doesn't work well with the screen's parallax barrier)  It's more comfortable when I leave the 3D effect off.

Ironically, even if my eyes have that condition, apparently many fellow art-focused people have something similar, which actually benefits them when drawing pictures on 2D surfaces (screens, paper), the truncated degree of depth perception helps them put lines to the surface more "accurately" than a person with better depth perception. It's really interesting how that works, I think.

I got two titles for the 3DS! Luigi's Mansion, which I've been playing on and off (it's a lot like the first, but it integrates a lot of new gameplay elements that keeps it fresh) and I finished Layton 5 (Miracle Mask), recently. oh my god, so many feelings, it was so good, but I got spoiled for this game really badly, so I expected most of the major plot twists... it still didn't make the story any less sad, but I hope I can fanart for it someday.

Now I'm just waiting on some commission payment so I can get Animal Crossing: New Leaf and play with friends, aww jeah.

Organizing image based files is really difficult

Because I get reminded/distracted by everything, then I go back to draw new things some more, then after awhile, I realize I have shit to sort...

Ah...

Good night, world.

drawing bs

I'm thinking of changing up my drawing style, particularly in the vein of creating comics- my style for "serious art" has developed into something that is way too stiff and detail intensive for my liking... It can still stand to be developed further into something that translates more fluidly and still be (even more) anatomically (approximately) "correct", but I also love how some people can streamline forms so easily while maintaining the integrity of the muscle structure. Right now it's a strange concoction of eastern something and western something else.... I don't mind straddling the fence between an approximate stylization and approximate realism at the moment, but I think I want to try leaning harder in either direction more clearly, instead of having this muddy cloud of indefinite... style definition lol

This Is A First Hand Look Into The Experience Of A Sudden Note Surge, In The Shoes Of A Person With No

This is a first hand look into the experience of a sudden note surge, in the shoes of a person with no prior significant precedence on the Tumblr sphere. My follower count went beyond tripled over size, too since that post.

While I'm grateful for the sudden surge of attention/interest in my blog-- I need to get it out there; Damn, I'm sorry, I bet people were going on here expecting tons of cool shit because of that one art piece, but I mostly just post poorly-constructed comedy here or irrelevant personal shit, IM SORRY. (I noticed my personal comic on clumsiness got a lot of love too, which I'm happy that many people can relate, :^) )

I don't get why shampoo companies need to market their products specifically "for men". Don't they know sometimes, just sometimes, we want our hair smelling like the lemon freeze citrus breeze on a spring day too? :^(

Thoughts on Blacksad

I was spending this night writing a paper section analyzing a medium transference of a work, in particular the comic "Blacksad", because it is one of my favorite comics of all time. It is a masterpiece. I recommend it to those who have not read it, and in particular enjoy Film Noir, detective type of stories, as well as watercolor medium pieces. Every single panel has so much technical proficiency, so much detail, and attention put into it. The writing is also intelligent and well done.

While conducting research on some of the comic's external information, I saw that it was slated to have a 2009 film release, but for unknown reasons, the project never saw or even initiated production, so it made me wonder what a Blacksad film would have ended up looking like.

To cite an example of visual styling, the film Rango - worked on by Nickelodeon Studios, I thought, did an excellent job as far as setting apart visual design and rendering from other production studios that work on 3D animated film, because they actually conducted direct, careful observation of animal textures and rendered them on a practically realism level accuracy - the scales, feathers, and fur, were precise to the actual animal.

The commonplace cartoonish overtone of most 3D characters, took more of a backseat compared to other movie characters. Just compare.

I thought Blacksad, would be excellent having a visual look akin to that to a similar effect. I spent some of this time drawing what I thought this could look like.

Thoughts On Blacksad

[Larger version here]

Granted my picture doesn't really do my thinking justice, I should've settled for a close up and personal shot (and perhaps drew in Weekly sidling behind him, as he has more/longer fur) to nail my visual thinking for it, but then my mind ended up wandering and I wondered what a Dreamworks (or even Pixar) styled Blacksad would've looked like.

Mod And I's Comic Trade In A Nutshell.

Mod and I's comic trade in a nutshell.

I kind of imagine, OC/character interactions sort of like bringing your barbie doll over to play with your friends's barbie doll or something. But being the painfully stereotypical male I am, of course I make them smash into each other.

(I will continue working on the other half of my comic hopefully tomorrow ;/)

I’m on break right now but somehow I’ve managed to accumulate so much bullshit to worry about even when I think I’ve done a lot for one thing, something else sneaks up behind me and requires my attention. (so much bullshit) DON’T KNOW HOW I’LL MANAGE. I JUST WANT TO GO BACK TO BED AT THE MOMENT AND JUST, LAY LIKE THE ISOLATED LOG IN A CALM SPRING MEADOW THAT I AM, BUT I NEED TO DO THINGS. MAN.

While watering my plants today (I own bamboo now), I remembered this particular incident, which happened several months ago.

Because I was too haunted by my mother's distrust in my sense of responsibility for living things, I neglected to research this particular plant's needs :,^( Cacti do not need much water at all.

Steel does a Moving

Note to self, but also anyone it applies to; if you ever plan to move out in the foreseeable future, whether its to be closer to a university or college, workplace, significant other, family, new area, or anything else.. here's some notes I've made since packing has been taking some time lately.

When it comes to looking for places to live, do plenty of research, read reviews and information on the area, and don't be afraid to take your time to pick a location that is just right for you and what you need. There is a wide variety of options out there for living quarters.

It's best to plan for moving in around the end of the month, because rent is monthly, so allocate time up until that point.

Do not pick a place that has nearby power lines, radio tower, airport, train station, busy street,  noise, or a place that looks like it might have potentially higher crime rate.Power lines and radio tower will cause unwanted electronic interference, headaches, or cause radiation-related health problems. Airport, train station, busy street, will have lots of noise or unwanted traffic.  Be safe and stay safe.

Make sure the actual living space is very close distance and accessible to what you're moving in for, like if for school, or work, make sure you are very close to it, even if you have a car or method of transportation- it will make your life MUCH easier.

Make sure the windows let in plenty of sunlight. It is good for your health. (Bonus if the window is facing east where the sun rises, especially in your bedroom- morning sunlight is the purest)

In general, try to throw away, donate, or recycle junk you don't need or use and make that a regular habit or it will be hell to sift through everything when packing.

Discard things that are no longer of use, such as casing for products you are certain you won't need to return. However, if you're dubious about a product you recently purchased, keep the casing and return ASAP with receipt.

If you're going to keep receipts, they are only going to be useful if the items can be reimbursed or if you're definitely sure you're going to return them.

Boxes are useful to keep around. You might need them later or just in general to store things.

Sometimes receipts will have coupons or discounts on the bottom, and the stubs might be worth clipping for yourself to store in a box if you return to the store frequently, but do it immediately after your trip to the store, otherwise toss 'em ASAP because they will build up fast.

The alternative is, if you wish to keep records of your purchase, regularly organizing them and filing them away in financial binders sorted by dates, daily would be good.

Saving things when you have space seems like the easy thing to do, but if you actually cannot see a purpose or function for them in the foreseeable future or you don't have time to consider whatever it is is on there, it may be better to toss it.

Get a paper shredder for discarding papers that contain more private information.

Toss/shred mail that you don't need. Keep sentimental/personal/valuable mail safe together in a separate box immediately after viewing it.

Donating furniture you do not want to take with you on your move, can be considered a tax write-off for the value of the item.

Donate or trade away clothes you don't want, or don't wear anymore to lighten the load, especially if you don't wear most of your closet. Clothes also build up over time, and you might have items that doesn't fit anymore.

Literally keep only what's most important or useful to you.

The Container Store, Lowes, and Uhaul have moving containers you can purchase to store items.

Movers /moving services and moving trucks (Uhaul) are hire-able (though separate) if you have a lot of stuff or don't want to do it all yourself, or don't have people willing to help.

I'm trying to pursue a more minimalist/organized lifestyle so this is just me writing shit that is on my mind.

Unsure if this is obvious information or not to most people, or whether its even applicable to most people. These are just notes I'm keeping in mind for the future since I've let a lot of things pile up during my solo apartment living during my stay during college. Couldn't make a regular habit of disposing things because I had a slight hoarder mentality "what if I need this later?" My life was hectic and I was still feeling my way around. So basically don't make the mistakes I made, lol.
