so apparently in the 1983 london workshop, the reason espresso reject’s ashley’s advances when she flirts with him is because his MOTHER. his MOM. his MAMA. told him not to date people who smoke. so this confirms that at least in the world of the workshop, trains do indeed have parents that raise them from conception to maturity. also since it’s never said what mother espresso is, so i’ve decided that she’s an engine like her son. shoutout to espresso’s mom for being the REAL first female engine in the show.
