Zhao’s blast of fire, directly to Zuko’s face, during their Agni Kai was such a deliberate and nasty move. And yet, even though he was faced with an exact replica of his trauma, Zuko broke from his paralysis, breakdanced Zhao off his feet and made him back off with the basics/“breaking his root” and Iroh looked so goddamn proud.
I love this show so much. I love that Zuko listened to his uncle, and triumphed over Zhao and his past experiences in one moment

made more impressive from a writing standpoint for how early it occurred in S1
the first time we root for zuko against someone else
even though he's ostensibly still the main villain
and we don't even know his Tragic Backstory yet
but already the show makes us want him to succeed at some things
