Does this mean they have both fell for each other on first sight?
Obviously, Taishin haven't figured it out at that stage because baby boy is a bit a lot naive. Still... 😅😅😅
Reading posts about Takara no vidro has been interesting in that I think a lot of viewers underestimate Takara when he says he is like his mother, for example by portraying him as a typical tsundere. The thing is, he is obsessive and possessive, and the only difference between his mother and him is that he wrestles with himself to try to keep it in check. These restraints are what outwardly has so far appeared as 'tsundere' behaviours. He isn't open about his feelings not because he's hot-and-cold or unaware of them, but because he is afraid and ashamed of their intensity and "ugliness".
Takara has not only liked Taishin from the start, he has been possessive and obsessive from the start. Rewind to episode 1, and see the face he makes when he sees Taishin make his first uni friends. This isn't the face of a senpai looking at a cute but naive kouhai who likes him find his footing after following his advice, and warming up to him. This is the face a man who is upset--because he feels irrational jealousy.
Takara knows that obsession and possessiveness would lead him to treat others like objects--because that is how his own mother treated him and his father. When the compulsion comes, people are reduced to obstacles or instruments, or to treasures to be displayed or possessed. It is one thing to collect marbles for over a decade, to have a life-long obsession with mountains or to always seek the same meal he never gets tired of eating--but now that what he wants is a person, he knows how much harm he can do, especially to a trusting, naive and already-enamoured person like Taishin.
So, what does he do? He sets safeguards for his impulses. The most obvious was that he set himself the strict rule that he would only allow himself to pursue Taishin if Taishin explicitly asked out him out first. It's not enough that Taishin's crush is clear for everyone to see, it's not even enough for Taishin to confess. Takara has to wait for the specific words, and once that restraint is lifted, he cannot wait a single second before kissing him.
However, the series shows us that Takara had set other rules for himself prior to this; how he decided not to encourage Taishin's affections by seeming aloof, to ensure he wouldn't 'influence' Taishin into wanting to date him; how he refused to set foot inside of Taishin's apartment until an emergencybecause he did not trust his self-control; how he gave his number but refused to text or call first; how he went to events just because he knew Taishin will be there, but won't allow himself to just ask Taishin to spend time together before they start dating even though Taishin would clearly be happy to; etc.
In a sense, he over-corrects because of his baggage. That being said, it's not entirely unfounded. Takara knows his own charms and the effect he has on people, and he is well-aware that Taishin is naive, young, and trusting. How easy it would have been for him to make a move on him in the tent after the first climb, to follow and stay with him at all times, and to mold and shape Taishin into a kept treasure away from others. He unfortunately is able to recognise himself in some of the impulses of the creepy stalker uncle.
At the same time, his self-restraint has limits: if Taishin willingly comes to him, he will allow himself to have what he wants even if aware he might end up harming Taishin.
Thankfully, we also come to know that, unlike his mother, Takara is kind and caring. Takara has experienced the hurt that comes with being treated as an object rather than a person with needs and feelings by someone who was supposed to love and care for him. He does not want to be treated by others the way his mother treated him, and he does not want to treat others the same. It's clear that this is part of the reason he has avoided romantic relationships despite being so popular. He does not trust himself and his impulses.
And falling for Taishin is the biggest test of his self-restraint, since the only safeguard in this relationship is Takara himself--Taishin is too innocent to realise the darker intentions and obsessions of others, or to know how to set boundaries.
In his view, Takara is the one that has been 100% committed from the start--once he likes something, he will like it for the rest of its life, whether it's marbles, mountains, ramen or Taishin. It's Taishin that can't possibly yet match the intensity of his feelings. But how daunting would it be to admit this to Taishin. This entire time, Taishin thought he was chasing after an unobtainable senpai--is Takara going to spell out that in reality he has always been the prey to a predator? Don't be scared, but I am constantly wrestling with my instinct and desires to possess you completely, and am not sure I'll be able to keep it under check if we get more intimate, and have been since the beginning? As viewers, we know that they will work it out together. But at this point Takara cannot even trust himself to be able to--how can he ask for Taishin to do so?
It's the finale of Takara's Treasure (before a special episode!), and Blue Boy Taishin is wearing a bit of Takara's black as he falls asleep on the phone.
While Black Brooder Takara is so damn light listening to Taishin fall asleep!
Because even though Taishin is visiting his family after his color-coded adjacent mom had a little accident, Takara is realizing it feels good to miss someone.
Taishin, once again in a bit of black, is horrified his mom had an entire conversation with his boyfriend,
But his boyfriend, in dark blue, is thrilled to know his boyfriend's family is just as sweet as his boyfriend is and that they know he exists.
Because it's good to have a sweet boyfriend. It's good to miss that sweet boyfriend. It's good to want to see that sweet boyfriend the moment he comes back home. It's good to want, and it's good to admit it.
But it's even better for it to be reciprocated which is why Takara continues to lighten up.
Taishin not only wants Takara just as much, but also likes when Takara admits that he wants him.
So for the second time this week, I got another Japanese BL allowing the characters to admit that they are equally crazy about each other.
And in the end, both their hoodies could be blue or they could be black, but the point is they are exactly the same.
Just like they have always been.

If Takara’s Treasure got another season and a movie to flesh out their story more, it might be a true contender for knocking My Beautiful Man off the #1 spot for my favorite bl. But since we only have one season, it will rest gently in my top 5.
