A Snow Experiment

A/N: Disclaimer this is Tales of Arcadia Fanfic and the characters do not belong to me. And of course you own you. I'll be using [Name] and [Last name] as a substitute to Y/N and L/N. This will be a quick thing and I don't really know if I'll do a part two, unless you want me to (It was not a quick thing). Im so sorry! This is a female reader! You can change the pronouns and stuff. I'm a female myself so it's easier to do so.

[Name] [Last Name] was a regular teen. Or as regular as she can be. Right now she was sitting crisscrossed on the floor with a white dress. She inhaled and exhaled twice before opening her [Eye Color] eyes. Her cold stare matched the cold room. Ice everywhere, snow scattered on the floor, and ice sculptures on the bookshelf as little snowflakes fell.

She looked around hearing the clink clacks of heels coming from the hallway outside. The door creaked and a woman walked in. Her blonde hair that was in a high ponytail moved back and forth as she walked towards her. "Experiment 626 (six two six), rise." The woman said, more like commanded. [Name] obliged with it. She rose gracefully, her expression still cold, dark, and blank.

The woman looked down at the clipboard and wrote a few words. "You have visitors." The woman said as she glanced at [Name] before looking back at the clipboard. This peaked [Name's] interest. A visitor? That was new and forbidden. She wasn't allowed to see anybody. Especially since last time...

"Run!"

"She's gone mad!"

Sreams were heard so many screams. "Stop her!" She struggled to move from the grip of the fire Experiment. Those Experiments are used for her. "She almost killed her!"

She looked at the person with a bleeding arm. Her [Eye Color] eyes held unshed tears.

She blinked the memory away and looked down, her [Hair Color] fell on her face a little. (If you have Afro hair or smth like Muslim then ignore that). "Why are they here?" [Name] siad as she raised her head up. The woman looked at her and grinned. "You'll see." Was all she said and walked out the room leaving thw door open.

[Name] stood there. She wasn't sure if she should go. What di it was a trap? She walked to the door leaving trails of ice behind her. Every step she took made a clicking sound. She stepped out of the room and looked to the long hallway to hear faint whispers of people talking.

"She is very beautiful." She heard the woman's voice say. "How long has she lived for?" A man's voice came next. "Well, Borislav, she has lived sicne the 12th century...Camelot." The woman answered. [Name] was coming closer. "Camelot?" The man named Borislav said. "Mm, indeed." The woman hummed. "You know what this could bring to us, Isabella?" Borislav's voice rose.

"I do. And she has powers beond our reach. She could be the key for all our troubles." The woman that attended [Name] earlier is now known as Isabella, said. "And besides, you can take her. She's all yours for 50 million." [Name] could hear the grin in her voice. "50 million?" The man said doutful. "I'll take her." He announced.

"Perfect! We have a deal." Isabelle reached for his hand and he shook it. "Pardon, but what is happening?" Asked [Name] as she came up from behind the hallway wall. Her hand rested on her chest as the other was holding the side of the wall. "[Name], darling, you're leaving the lab." Isabella said as she turned to look at her.

The man looked at [Name] up and down and he grinned. [Names] cold, dark, and blank expressions were no more. It changed to a terrified one. She didn't know where she would go.

As she sat on the soft surface of a couch she looked down at her hand that rested on her lap. The clink crack of heels. She lifted her head up and stared at the blonde woman known as Isabella.

"Experiment 626 (six two six)," She stopped infront of her. "You are going to Arcadia Oaks."

"Jim!"

She ran down the paths of Trollmarket, worried for the aftermath. "Jim stop!" All she knew is that she could not lose the one person who truly cared for her. "Were not gonna make it!" Toby yelled as he ran as well. Claire furrowed her eyebrows with a frown. "We are!" She yelled back. Blinky was also running.

They all ran towards the door where the Killahead bridge was stored. "Master Jim!" Blinky pleaded. On the other side the Trollhunter, Jim ran up to the switch, clicking it as the rest of his team had already caught up to him. The doors began to close, cutting Nevada, Claire, Toby, and Blinky off.

"Dude, what are you doing?" Toby asked as he stopped infront of the closing door. "Jim, don't!" Claire pleaded. "Jim, please. I need you!" Nevada cried as she banged her fist on the stone door. Tears in her eyes. Her curly hair moved due to the force. Getting in her face but she didn't care. She has more important things to attend to.

"Jim, stop!" Claire cried, Jim disappearing behind the doors. "Jim, no! You promised we'd go together!" Nevada said angrily, her other fist pounded against the door as Jim leaned on the other side, voice breaking. "The amulet chose me." He looked down at the other amulet in his hand. "I can't lose any more of you." He pushed himself away from the door, running to the bridge.

Nevada pounded and kicked against the door as Blinky inspected it. Soon Toby and Claire joined in the pounding. "Maybe I can manually override the lock." As Blinky attempted, Jim raised the amulet, the device floating and twisting until it locked itself into the bridge. It shot out a blue stream of light, the bridge magically builds itself as blue lightning shoots from the amulet, causing Jim to shield his face.

He groans and looks up from behind his arms. "Whoa." Jim breathed out, now standing in front of a complete bridge, the portal finally open. "Come on, Jimbo! We're a team! Don't do this!" Toby cried through the door. "I'm sorry! I have to finish the fight. Alone." He began to step to the portal, Kanjigar's words clouding his mind.

"But the amulet chose me." He looked down, readying himself right as the doors began to open. Nevada, Blinky, Claire, and Toby came charging in, hoping to stop him. "Jim!" Claire yelled. "Im sorry." Jim added before he let his body fall through the portal, Claire's voice still reaching him.

"No! Jim!" Nevada ran to the portal but got stopped by Blinky. He held her in fear that she would jump and tried to get him back. "Jim." She whispered in dread. "Jim!" Toby yelled. "Master Jim, what have you done?" Blinky asked, holding a horrified Nevada.

In the Darklands, Jim stepped to a cliffside, peering down at the vast world in front of him, a vortex formed farthest away. He donned the Eclipse blade, letting it circle in his hand. Jim slid the sword against his back and clenched his teeth. "Get ready, Gunmar." From Jim's determined face, it changed to Nevada's horrified face.

She had Just watched her step-brother fall into his death. From her horrified face, it changed into the amulet which its arms were spinning rapidly.

In the morning, the sun is bright, and the sunlight is warm and not harsh. The birds keep chirping, and the breeze is cool. The Lake residence has been quite since that horrible day Jim went into the Darklands.

The mother, Barbara Lake laid limp on the red couch. The TV was on and playing a movie. "I am Gun Robot. Resistance is futile." An alarm starts beeping. "Give up, Sally. Give up." Barbara gasp as she wakes up. "I am Gun Robot. I am superior." The TV character said as Barbara placed her glasses on.

She walked to the TV and turned it off as the alarm stopped. She looked up to the stairs and walked up with a hand on the wooden railing. She went to the right and passed her bedroom to another and knocked softly. "Nevada, sweetie. Are you awake?" She asked through the door. Sounds of stuff moving could be heard from the inside.

"Oh, uh, yes!" Nevada opened the door and looked up. "Good morning, Miss Lake." Nevada greeted with a smile. Even though Nevada was living with her she still felt like she didn't belong. Barbara is her step-mom after all.

"Oh, morning." Barbara greeted back. "Is Jim up?" Nevada asked as she closed the door to her room. "I'm not sure." Barbara walked to Jim's room and knocked. "Jim? Jim, honey, are you up?" She asked.

Nevada's eyes widened and she stepped forward. Barbara looked at a note that read 'ʟᴀᴛᴇ ɴɪɢʜᴛ ʟᴀꜱᴛ ɴɪɢʜᴛ. ꜱʟᴇᴇᴘɪɴɢ ɪɴ. - ᴊɪᴍ' Barbara opened the door saying, "Honey, are..." But Jim wasn't there. "...are you here?" She looked around for him. "Jim?" She entered the room worried. "Oh, hes probably, uh..." Nevada started brainstorming an excuse.

"He's probably in the bathroom." But unfortunately for her the bathroom door was opened and obviously Jim wasn't there since Barbara had walked past it. But then 'Jim' appeared from behind the bed. "Oh, hey! Sorry, Mom." He hesitated. "Putting these socks on is so easy today." He said walking to them. 'Jim' looked behind Barbara to see Nevada with wide eyes signaling him to stop.

"You scared me. I was worried you'd run off or-" Barbara started. "R-r-run off?" He scoffs. "Where would I go? Some scary underground world?" Nevada's eyes widen. "No, I've been here the whole time." He chuckles dismissing it with a hand. "Oh, your-your-your breakfast! Almost forgot." He said and ran down the stairs falling in the process.

Barbara looked at Nevada and she turned to her with a nervous smile. She shrugged and ran down the stairs. 'Jim' tried grabbing ingredients but they fell backwards. He yelped and grunted. He chuckled as he grabbed a box. He goes to the fridge and takes out a red bowl full of food dropping stuff in the process.

'Jim' throws a knife around trying to do cool tricks but he yells as it gets out of hand. He ducks down and the knife landed on the cutting board. He whimpered as he looked up. He drops some eggs in a bowl. He grabbed a milk carton and hummed. He poured the milk in the bowl with a chuckle.

He mixed the bowl and turned the stove on. The pan was on fire as he flipped the omelet. He grunted as he tried not to catch anything on fire. "Looks like you've been taking cooking lessons from me." Barbara said coming next to him as she saw 'Jim' almost burn the food. Nevada had an agape mouth and she dared not to enter the kitchen.

"The doctor said, after that concussion and loss of memory, you need all the nourishment you can get." 'Jim' said as he looked for the omelet he just flipped but ended up in the ceiling. "And voila!" The omelet ended up falling into the plate. "Omelette a la Jimbo." He said handing the plate to Barbara. Nevada looked down at the food next to Barbara with a disgusted face.

"I don't think you should eat that." Nevada whispered. Barbara gasped at the food and smiled nervously. "Thank you, Jim." She said trying not to gag. "Yes" 'Jim' cheered. "Must've been some concussion. I still can't remember when we redecorated the house." She said placing the plate on the sink and going in front of it.

The last time they 'decorated' the house was when Angor Rot lost his soul and Strickler was in danger which meant Barbara was in danger. Barbara had come home after a worker at the hospital messed up her schedule. She placed her bag on the coat hanger and an axe lunged her way. Luckily Jim was able to push her out of the way. "Whoah!" Jim yelled in surprise as the axe stabbed the door worded by wooden planks. "Uh.." Strickler hid a crossbow behind his back and accidentally set it off making some glass shatter behind him. Angor Rot was smashed by a fridge. He used his dark magic to strike Jim and Strickler. - Such a crazy memory!

'Jim' laughed nervously. "It's a shame. I-I really loved the wallpaper you picked, Mrs.-- Mom." He caught himself as Nevada had her hands on her face and she groaned. A second later Nevada got a phone call and she looked to see it was Claire. "Gotta go, but we'll be back for dinner." Nevada said running out and grabbing her bag. "See you later, Dr. L!" 'Jim' said and took his bag and ran out.

Barbara was stunned. "Dr. L?" She questioned herself. In the garage 'Jim' and Nevada took their bikes and opened the garage door. "We are late, Jimbo." Claire said teasingly. Nevada walked her bike outside of the garage and got on it, slowly pedaling next to Claire.

'Jim' sighted. "Keeping up appearances is hard." 'Jim' said getting on the bike and pedaling. The three peddled through the streets like nothing. "She was so close to finding out today." 'Jim' said following Claire and Nevada through the short cut. "I don't know how long I can keep this up." He peddled next to Claire as Nevada was a few feet in front.

Claire rolled her eyes as next to her a green light shone. "One of you wear the glamour mask and play Jim. It's got this sweaty troll stank to it." Toby said as he shook the mask getting the sweat off then placing it inside his bag.

"No way. We made a deal." Claire said looking behind her shoulder. "You cover for him in Arcadia, we handle all his duties in Trollmarket." Nevada slowed down and paddled next to Toby. "Besides, Miss Lake would get suspicious of me." She tried to reason.

Toby huffed. "Fine. Speaking of which, any word?" Toby asked. "Come on, Tobes!" Claire said as she rode her bike on a small hill and flew for a few seconds. She looked behind her shoulder as Nevada did the same with a laugh. "It's only been two weeks, and the amulet hasn't called for anyone else." Nevada said as she peddled faster. "We know he's okay in the Darklands. He'll be back, and with my baby brother." Claire said determent.

Toby caught up to them as they passed the bridge to go to school. "I hope so. I don't know how much longer I can deal with this stank." Toby complained. "Where are you, Jim?" Toby called. In the Darklands Jim blew on black rocks that had fire sparks.

"Come on." He kept blowing. "Come on. Come on." The rock finally caught on fire. "Yes!" He stood up and activated his shield. The shield appeared giving a red glow. He swag the shield back and forth making the fire rise and fire sparks fly around. As soon as he stopped a creature snarled.

He gasped and flinched back. He hid behind a huge rock that sprouts from the ground and grew faced up. The beast appeared, its teeth huge and long. Its mouth glowed a blue hue as it growled. It roared loud and extinguished the fire. Jim stood hidden as the beast growled and it slithered away.

Jim exhaled in relief. He narrowed his eyes and picked a sack off the floor. Grabbing a piece of chalk he drew an arrow pointing the other way he had run off to ->. Jim ran to a pile of rocks reviling red eggs. 'Yes! Dinner!" He cheered and grabbed them placing them in the sack as he chuckles. A scratching sound was heard scaring Jim.

He hurriedly picked up the full sack and swag it over his shoulder. He turned to face forward coming face to face with the slithering creature. He gasped at the sight. The beast snarled and lunged at him. He yelled as he ran away.

It's been a while and the Trollhunter sat on the ground, exhausted. "Where are you, Enrique? There's no end to this place." Jim said safe from the creature and drinking an egg he managed to keep.

In another world Nevada stood in her room, it was after school. Toby and Claire were in Trollmarket. Sighting, she fidgeted with her locket. It was big enough to store small round photos. A gift from her mother, the side chick of Jim's father. While Barbara was pregnant with Jim, her husband was having an affair with another woman.

By the time Jim was born Mr. Lake decided to propose to the side chick. And they decided to get married a year later, when Nevada was born. She was born a year later than Jim. Raised hidden from the original family of her father. Living a lie for years, until...

"Stop! You're hurting me!" A younger version of Nevada yelled as her father dragged her by her forearm. "I don't care!" The father yelled. The father, Mr. Lake, or so he was, opened the door. Her father tightened her grip on the 15 year old girl. "Ow! Stop!" She tried to get away but her father just tightened her grip more.

This brought tears to her brown eyes as she bit back a sob. Her mother crossed her arms as she stared at her. Her father pushed her out. "You are worthless! I don't want you in my house any longer!" Her father yelled. "About time you get rid of this brat." The mother scoffed.

Next thing she knows they're taking her away to live somewhere else because her parents didn't want her anymore. "Don't worry sweety. Everything will be alright." The nice policewoman held her as she cried. She doesn't cry very often but this time it felt like her heart was shredded to pieces.

"We're going to take you somewhere safe." She got in the back seat and they drove her to the airport. She got sent to a small suburban town called Arcadia Oaks. "Things will get better, I promise." One of the local policemen drove her to a house. Then he parked the car at the curb and she followed him to the door.

"Don't worry, you're going to love it here."

She blinked her tears away. With a grunt she ripped her locket off her neck. It was a pain but she didn't care. She threw it on the ground and the golden colored chain clanked on the ground. She turned away facing the covered window with crossed arms. A small self hug. The locket stopped moving and opened once it landed in its current position.

Nevada sobbed as she brought her hand up and wiped her tears. She turned to the locket angrily but that anger died down once she saw the image. She lowered herself and picked it up slowly. Tears pricked her hand which held the locket. An image of a five year old Nevada with her mother and father.

She breathed heavily as she sat seiza-style. She brought the locket close to her. There was a small round notebook with images inside the locket. She flipped through them. Each of them were precious memories of her childhood. She stopped at one. Where her and her parents stood just close enough to a cliff-side. Watching over Arcadia as the sun stetted.

Her brown eyes widened. She had been to Arcadia, she just didn't remember. "I've been here before?" She whispered as she looked up at the door. Thinking of going to find this cliff. She looked back down at the photo and squinted her eyes. Her mother wore a bracelet it was black and had a rhombus shape in the front, it was big.

She gasped and her eyes widened. She stood up quickly and ran out the door. Running down the stairs and out of the house. She reached for her bag that went from her shoulder and to her other hip. sliding down the concrete wall and landing safely she took out the horngazel. She held it in front of her, but she had been touching the crystal not the handle.

Her eyes widened but she shook it off. Holding it correctly, she ran under the bridge and opened the door for Trollmarket. She placed her palm at the center making the concrete slowly part. A blue hue was light as it did, she bounced up and down anxious about getting in. She placed the horngazel away in her bag.

She looked up and ran in, jumping from the blue giant stair crystal to another. Once she made it to the bottom she kept running not looking where she was going just knowing the direction of the library. She bumped into someone. They were stone, a Troll.

She looked up to see Blinky. "Blinky!" She beamed and jumped up. "Ah, lady Nevada!" Blinky said turning to her. "What a surprise to see you today." He commented. "Yeah, I know." She sighted. Nevada never got involved with the Trollhunting business. She didn't really care what her step-brother did.

But occasionally she would help. But seeing her in Trollmarket without a heads up or a reason was weird. "I need to talk to Claire." She said hurriedly. Claire pecked from behind Blinky. "Yeah, what's up?" Claire said. "We have a problem! I'm-" She tried to say.

"Yeah, no kidding!" Toby interrupted. "They're going to destroy Killahead Bridge!" He yelled. "What!?" Nevada panicked. "No! They can't!" She said and looked at The Tribunal which were already retrieving. "Jim's still in there!" Nevada looked to see Vendel.

"Vendel!" Said Troll turned around to face the girl. "Yes, dear?" He asked. "They can't destroy the bridge, Jim won't be able to get out." She said panicked. Vendel sighted. "I'm well aware of that, and I'm trying to prevent it." Vendel told the brown-eyed girl. "Let's go, Blinkous." Vendel said as he motioned Blinky to go with him.

Nevada scoffed, not believing this. She narrowed her eyes as the others came up next to her. "There goes our hope." Claire said. "Yeah," Nevada said glancing up at the slightly taller female. "no kidding Sherlock." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Now, now, lady Nevada," Blinky said placing a hand on Nevada's shoulder.

"We must keep searching. Master Jim's time is running out." Blinky walked towards The Tribunal. He turned to look at them and gave a thumbs up with his four thumbs. The two Krubera guards blocked the way with their big hammers that had spikes on each side, just as soon as the three tried to catch up.

The three looked at each other in sadness. The Tribunal walked on the bridge past the Heartstone. In the Darklands, pale white Goblins ran around panting. They sniffed trying to find something or someone. A Goblin turns around and speaks in the Goblin language to a Troll wearing a hood.

Jim turned around with a gasp. He hurriedly rubbed off the drawing of a maze, all the pathways he had tried. Some spots had huge 'X's in them. The mysterious Troll walked in with the Goblins behind him. In his hand a spear from a Gum-gum. "The human Trollhunter is here." He told the Goblins. "The bridge can be opened. Find him." He ordered. All the Goblins spoke the Goblin language and ran off to find him.

Jim panted as he ran away from the Goblins. He yelled as he fell off a cliff, screaming as he hit some rocks along the way down. He rubbed his head while panting. He grunted as Goblins hissed not seeing him. He sighted and looked up. "No way. The nursery." They were small beds hanging from the ceiling with glowing yellow crystals to lighten the room. "That's a lot of babies."

Claire, Toby, and Nevada sneaked into the meeting. "What if we get arrested?" Nevada whispered harshly. "We can't get arrested." Claire whispered back and rolled her eyes. "What if they throw us in the dungeon?" Nevada said as the three got in position. "What if we get executed?"

Claire turned her head to look at her as well as Toby. "Stop with the 'What if's." Claire said. "I see no reason for your impatience. He may still be alive. There's been no other Trollhunter chosen. Why do we have to move now?" Vendel said as the three pecked out from the yellow/orange crystals.

"We cannot allow the child's folly to endanger all of trollkind." The Krubera Queen, Usurna said as she held her staff. It was a long crystal much like Vendels only blue/pruple. "Foolish he was to go in alone. Should not have gone at all." The Wumpa Queen said.

Bork shook her head next to the Wumpa Queen. She was a slim troll. "If Gunmar finds the boy, what's stopping him from getting out?" She said. "Killahead Bridge is locked in the vault." Vendel argued. "Like a vault will stop Gunmar." Usurna fired back.

Gatto, a smaller version of him appeared from rocks. "Tear it down, and let the flesh thing perish in the Darklands. Your toy amulet will choose another." He said. "Those ungrateful turds!" Toby whispered while hitting his fist on the crystal, not too hard. "We don't have a say about Jim, but volcano guy does?" He said.

"The Trollhunter's fate is not yet sealed. The amulet has yet to call another." Vendel said as he banged the end of his staff on the ground. "He may still return to us." He argued. "Captured already he may be, with Gumm-Gumm horde marching for us!" The Wumpa Queen yelled with her fist raised.

Nevada gasped and she stood up but Claire held her back. "Shh!" She whispered harshly. "I am astounded at what I'm hearing." Blinky said finally entering the argument. "Master Jim's deeds may be brash, yes, but, in his short tenure bearing the sacred mantle, the Trollhunter slayed Bular the Vicious..."

Without hesitation, Jim quickly pressed his hand into Bular, a blue blast radiating from his hand and shooting through Bular's thick body. The blast shot hard through his core, the blue pouring from his mouth and eyes as he screamed in pain.

"Railed Trollmarket against Angor Rot,"

Jim raised his fist as the crowd cheered, their mood completely changing as they supported him.

"Uncovered the changelings in our midst,"

Strickler growled as green smoke and lightning covered his body a harsh hiss accompanying it, transforming him into an almost naked and very hideous troll.

"And captured the very bridge you now wish to make his tomb."

Jim stood in front of the Killahead Bridge in his new red armor, holding his fists at his side.

"So many times he has granted our kind mercy, saved us from ourselves. I don't merely ask that we keep the bridge standing. I demand we go in after him!" Blinky finished with his two fists raised. "Very moving, Blinkous, but answer me this. Who's to say this human isn't a changeling, who went in to free Gunmar himself?" Gatto said slowly.

Blinky gasped. "I am flabbergasted!" He yelled. "I see no proof otherwise." Bork agreed. "How dare you!" Nevada yelled getting away from Claire's grasp. "You were the ones who said he has to answer every call!" Claire agreed as the three of them stood in front of The Tribunal. Toby struggling but he made it.

"He went in to hunt down Gunmar, the one troll the rest of you are too scared to deal with!" Toby yelled. "Oh, not these three. They're always a pain in my rear!" Gatto complained while rolling his eyes. "They deserve to be heard!" Blinky said as a Krubera grabbed Claire from her shoulder making her gasp.

Nevada looked behind her to see the other Krubera. She started backing up with her hands up in defense. The Krubera grabbed her making her yell. The Krubera grabbed Toby next. They all struggled. "If you boot them from these proceedings, you may as well do the same to me!" Blinky told The Tribunal. The Tribunal looked at him blankly.

Blinky grunts as he is thrown in the floor. "Scum of the earth!" He yelled. Nevada stood up and dusted her jeans. With a sigh she turned around placing her hand on her hip. She's so close to losing all hope.
