I'll give a quick rundown

Team Star was a bunch of bullied kids who thought starting a team to fight the bullies would be a great idea.

Team Yell were just an overly enthusiastic punk-rockstar fanclub whose grunts tried to sabotage the Galar league against their leader's wishes and without his knowledge. He straightened things out.

Team Magma wanted to create more inhabitable land for people to live on while Team Aqua wanted to create more ocean for water Pokemon to live in. They just didn't realize Groudon wanted to get rid of ALL water, and Kyogre wanted to get rid of ALL land. So basically this meme

Team Star wasn't evil. Team Yell wasn't evil. Teams Magma and Aqua weren't evil, just really bad at planning and thinking things though.

to be fair my only experience with teams is plasma and galactic and rocket i grew up pretty secluded i dont know what the other ones are

but the evil teams i know wanted to hurt people, hurt pokemon, and/or end or take over the world.

i know obviously not everyone in these teams wanted these things and were either ill-informed of the intentions and were forced to be there (anthea and concordia and n). but the people heading these teams, and their admins and such. they wanted these things.
